After leaving Changle Village, Xue found himself at a loss for where to go next. 0

Yet he understood that the woman associated with Qiao Er and her husband was likely a key figure. Although his purpose for coming to the mortal realm was to capture Star Lord Yao Guang, the events unfolding here could not be ignored. The heavenly court was no longer as sacred and pure as it once was, and this brought not only a crisis to the Three Realms but also posed a significant threat to the common people. Among all realms, humanity was the weakest. When disaster struck, it was humanity that would bear the brunt of the suffering. 0

Xue took out the purple stone. The nourishment from lost souls had dimmed its luster, making it appear like an ordinary rock from a distance. Whose stone could this be? It clearly bore an aura of immortality, yet it was carelessly used to absorb souls, akin to the practices of evil spirits. Xue pondered but found no clues; this stone had no distinctive features. He attempted to trace any celestial magic associated with it to track its origins. However, after being in Gao Jun's possession for too long and having absorbed too many mortal souls, even the remaining trace of celestial energy had become murky, leaving Xue unsure of where to begin his investigation. 0

After much contemplation, Xue still couldn't devise a suitable plan. He tucked the stone back into his robe; it seemed there were no leads for now. Gathering his thoughts, he strolled leisurely toward the town. Since he had come this far, he might as well make himself comfortable. 0

"Fresh candied hawthorn!" "Steamed buns just out of the oven—if they're not delicious, you don't have to pay!" The lively shouts filled the air as Xue looked around with satisfaction at the bustling town. It appeared that the people here lived quite comfortably, and commerce thrived. Secretly casting a spell to sense his surroundings, he confirmed that there was indeed a reason for this prosperity—there seemed to be an immortal presence here. Shaking his head in self-mockery, he thought that none of this had anything to do with him anymore. 0

Just when he thought he could enjoy some peace, an unexpected visitor came to see him. 0

"What brings you here?" The person sat across from Xue, gazing at him curiously. 0

"The Underworld sent me on business to the mortal realm," Xue replied coolly. 0

"After all these years, you still have that icy demeanor. I wonder how people from the Underworld can stand you," the visitor teased lightly. 0

In the dim candlelight, Xue could vaguely make out a woman across from him, her alluring eyes glinting with mischief. 0

Xue stared at her; she was an old friend, yet he found himself at a loss for words. After a moment of silence, he could only listen as she continued to jest at his expense. "Phoenix Empress, I hope you've been well all these years!" 0

As the voice fell, the room was enveloped in silence, the candlelight flickering against the walls. 0

"Well, what's wrong with that?" Phoenix Empress said with a smile as she looked at Xue. 0

"Phoenix Empress, you know that's not what I meant..." 0

Suddenly, Phoenix Empress stood up. "Wheel King, it has been ten thousand years since this world has passed. Many things I have long forgotten. Tonight, you shall rest here!" With that, she quickly walked out the door, as if a monster that devours people were behind her. 0

Indeed, she still couldn't forget. Even after ten thousand years, the wounds in Phoenix Empress's heart had not healed. The candlelight on the table continued to sway. "Candle Dragon, what should we do?" 0

Seeing Xue on the street by chance, she thought she could face some memories, but unexpectedly found herself collapsing before him once again. Phoenix Empress walked into the garden and sat quietly for a long time. "Candle Dragon, what should I do? I thought ten thousand years would be enough for me to forget you, but why can I still feel your presence? Even though I can come and go freely in this three realms, why do I still feel so lonely?" 0
