Murong Feng often appears in Zhong Ruyan's dreams after he left.
Every night, lying on a simple wooden bed, as soon as she closes her eyes, her spirit flies to the lake, like a fairyland, where moonlight pervades and it feels like one can touch the stars. Standing by the lake is Murong Feng, dressed in a white robe, leisurely playing the flute. His gaze is profound, revealing nothing, and whenever he looks at Zhong Ruyan, it's as if he sees the deepest secrets of her soul.
In every dream, she experiences sweet moments with Murong Feng over and over again. They stroll by the lake, sit and talk about various topics, and even fly hand in hand in a fairyland. However, no matter how pleasant their time together is, the dream always abruptly ends at the moment they are inexplicably forced to part ways.
One night, in the dream, the willow tree by the lake suddenly made a strange sound, and the lake surface instantly changed. The previously calm lake became turbulent, and Murong Feng suddenly frowned and said to Zhong Ruyan, " Ruyan, I need to handle some things and can't accompany you anymore."
"Why?" Zhong Ruyan felt a wave of loss and unease.
"Some things are beyond my ability to explain," Murong Feng looked puzzled, but still had his usual smile on his lips.
Then, the dream shattered, and Zhong Ruyan woke up, sitting on the edge of the bed, touching the fox tail bracelet on her hand, feeling a mix of emotions.
This made Zhong Ruyan involuntarily start to question, is this really love? Everything in the dream, the sweetness and the loss, all felt too real.
Standing in front of the window, at that moment, all the sounds seemed to fade away, leaving only the moonlight quietly spilling into the room, as if it had sprinkled a layer of mysterious silver yarn. Zhong Ruyan took a deep breath, as if she could smell that subtle coolness, mixed with the depth of the night.
The moonlight sprinkled on her cheeks, leaving a bit of haze, as if carrying a bit of mystery. Everything in front of her seemed unreal as if in a dream, but she knew in her heart that all of this was more real than any dream.
At that moment, the doubts and unease in her heart seemed to be wiped away by the tranquil moonlit night. The bracelet made of fox tail fur sparkled in the moonlight, as if possessing some kind of magic, reminding her of the time spent with Murong Feng.
Suddenly, a gentle breeze blew through, causing the curtains to flutter, accompanied by a slight chill. Her heart suddenly stirred, as if sensing some kind of omen in this moment.
She took out the hairpin from the bedside, tied up the scattered hair, and sighed softly. The scenery under the moon was beautiful, but ultimately she had to return to reality.
At that moment, suddenly, the fox fur on the bracelet trembled slightly, as if conveying some kind of message. Zhong Ruyan was shaken, what did this mean? Was Murong Feng calling her?
She suddenly turned around and looked at the empty room.
The moonlight was still gentle. She stood by the window, feeling the warmth and tranquility of the moonlight. Just then, a faint sound caught her attention. Zhong Ruyan looked down and found that the fox tail hair bracelet had suddenly broken and fallen to the ground.
A sense of inexplicable unease arose from the bottom of her heart, as if cold water was poured over her head, instantly chilling her whole body. Subconsciously, she touched the empty wrist where memories from Murong Feng used to be tightly tied.
"What's going on? Has something happened to Murong Feng?" Countless question marks emerged in Zhong Ruyan's mind, and the more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.
She immediately put on her clothes, picked up the broken bracelet, and hurried out of the house. Her body seemed to be a compass, without needing to think, heading directly in a certain direction.
The moonlight was still bright, but for Zhong Ruyan, each step felt like walking into an unknown darkness. Even so, she had no intention of backing down, because she knew that no matter what happened, she could not give up.
I don't know how long it has been, but Zhong Ruyan finally arrived at the edge of a forest. Moonlight shone through the leaves onto the ground, creating patches of dappled light and shadow. She stopped, took a deep breath, and then slowly walked into the woods.
In the distance, she saw a nine-tailed fox lying on the ground, covered in blood.
"Murong Feng!" Zhong Ruyan shouted and ran over quickly. In fact, she had long known that Murong Feng was a fox, the mark on his forehead was too similar.
She hurriedly bent down to check Murong Feng's injuries. Fresh blood stained his white fur, and there were several burn marks on his body, indicating that he had suffered great torture. Not far away, there was also a broken celestial talisman, indicating the intensity of the battle.
"How did this happen? How did you become like this?" Her voice was filled with tears, her heart aching.
Murong Feng struggled to open his eyes, and saw Zhong Ruyan's worried face. He smiled and said, "So it's you, Ruyan."
Zhong Ruyan tightly held the broken bracelet, tears finally couldn't help but flow down.
This time, no matter how difficult, she would be the one to protect him.
Without waiting for her to think too much, suddenly, a gust of wind came, and Zhong Ruyan immediately became alert. With her sharp eyes, she immediately noticed several dark figures rapidly approaching from a distance.
She instantly took out the bracelet given to her by Murong Feng, chanting a spell under her breath, and the bracelet in her hand emitted a dazzling light. Boom! Their figures gradually disappeared.
"No, we can't let them go!" Another figure's eyes flashed with a cold fire, like lightning in the dark night.
"Use that move quickly!" The third figure finally spoke.
The magic circle has been activated, and several dark figures are attempting to use all their power to intercept that flash of light.
At that moment, the atmosphere reached an extreme level of tension. The figure within the darkness let out a deep roar, as if the howl of a beast from the abyss, piercing through the night sky, as if to tear everything apart. Among the three figures, a purple rune appeared, emitting a high-frequency vibration, gradually merging into one, forming a huge shadowy dragon head.
"Purple Firmament Evil Dragon, go!" The three dark figures simultaneously chanted the spell, and the shadow dragon suddenly opened its big mouth, spewing a dark flame towards the magic circle.
This dark flame carried an overwhelming evil aura, like a raging wind under the night sky, creating a tremendous suction force. The entire space seemed to distort because of this flame, as if it were about to be swallowed by a black hole.
The originally bright magic circle gradually dimmed, as if it were about to extinguish. Holding the fox in her arms, Zhong Ruyan felt a sudden tightness in her heart, sensing an indescribable sense of oppression.
At this critical moment, a beam of white light suddenly appeared in the sky, and it was a fairy princess who had hurried over. She wielded a long sword and wore a flowing moon-white fairy robe, exuding a hint of elegance. With a flick of her sword, the white light instantly turned into a rope of light, winding around the shadow dragon's head.
"Stop!" the fairy princess shouted coldly.
The shadow dragon's head was instantly bound by a rope of light, disintegrating into countless small black dots, then disappearing into the air.
The figure of the fairy princess also disappeared.
"What a pity, letting them escape like that," said one of the dark figures, with a hint of disdain in their voice.
Another seemingly leading figure in black, sheathed his sword and said, "Don't worry, even if he escapes, his injuries won't recover for a while, so he's not a threat to us for the time being."
A fourth shadowy figure suddenly appeared from behind. "Report to the leader, that talisman is fake."
The leading figure in black, after some thought, said, "Fake? We arrived before that fox, and the ambush was just a momentary thing. There's no way it could have taken the talisman right under our noses."
"This is a serious matter. Let's hurry back and report to our master." With that, the four figures promptly disappeared.
