I stood there, frozen in shock, watching Yan's figure grow distant. My heart felt as if it had been pierced by a thousand arrows, a painful blend of sorrow and reluctance weaving an indescribable melancholy within me. This man had entered my heart, only to turn away coldly. I couldn't imagine how I would endure the days without him.
"No—!" I screamed with all my might, my voice echoing through the empty forest. I ran after Yan recklessly; I couldn't let him go like this. He was my only salvation in life.
Suddenly, Han Feng appeared in my line of sight, his face filled with shock and confusion as he grabbed my arm. " Lin Yue, are you crazy? I've already won! We can be together openly now!" His voice was laced with urgency and hope.
However, I forcefully shook off his hand, my gaze resolute and unyielding. "Han Feng, listen to me. I no longer love you. It's over between us." My words were cold and merciless, like a sharp blade piercing his heart.
Han Feng stood there stunned, unable to believe what he was hearing. But I turned again and chased after Yan, driven by a single conviction: I had to be with Yan, no matter the cost.
Just as I was about to catch up to Yan, a sudden wave of pain surged through my abdomen. My vision darkened, and I lost consciousness.
When I awoke again, I found myself imprisoned in a dimly lit room. The walls were hard, and cold chains bound me.
I struggled against my restraints but realized my strength was insignificant. Outside stood Han Feng, his eyes revealing a disturbing madness.
"You’re awake?" Han Feng's voice was hoarse and grim. " Lin Yue, you would leave me for that man? I won't let you succeed; I want you to stay with me forever." His words dripped with possessiveness and obsession.
I glared at him in fury. "Han Feng, let me go! What you're doing is illegal! You have no right to imprison me!"
I fought desperately against the chains that bound my freedom.
At that moment, the door was kicked open violently. Yan's figure appeared in the doorway, his eyes blazing with anger.
He looked at me, then turned to Han Feng, speaking each word deliberately: "Let her go."
A flicker of fear crossed Han Feng's face, but he quickly regained his composure. "Yan, who do you think you are? This is my territory; you have no right to dictate here." His words dripped with provocation and resentment.
However, Yan ignored him and walked straight towards me. With a gentle wave of his hand, the chains binding me snapped apart. I was free again and immediately threw myself into his arms. His embrace was warm and solid, bringing me immense comfort.
Yan cast a cold glance at Han Feng. "I will settle the score for your actions. Now, get out of my sight." His voice was icy and authoritative, like a death sentence.
Han Feng's face turned pale with fear as he hurriedly turned to flee. Yan held me tightly, as if he wanted to merge me into his very being.
Later, I learned the truth from other beastmen: Han Feng had attempted to exploit me again, planning to sell me to an underground beast arena because I bore the mark left by the White Tiger, making me valuable for high-priced auctions.
I was utterly disappointed in Han Feng and refused to hear any more news about him.
Yan used Han Feng as leverage to engage in a public negotiation with humans.
He exposed the heinous acts of the Anti-Orc Association and their cruel experiments and persecution of beastmen. This negotiation shocked human society and garnered widespread attention and sympathy.
More and more people began to pay attention to the rights and protection of beastmen, leading to severe blows and sanctions against the Anti-Orc Association.
After the negotiation concluded, Yan came to my small cabin and revealed all the truths to me. I was taken aback; I never imagined Han Feng would stoop so low. In that moment, my love and trust for him shattered completely.
I followed Yan to the place where Han Feng was imprisoned, severing all ties with him once and for all.
Han Feng looked at me with a resolute gaze and Yan's cold expression, finally realizing his own mistakes and foolishness.
He knelt on the ground in pain, confessing his wrongs. I would no longer believe him, even if he spoke the truth, but it was too late to turn back now.
Yan released Han Feng but warned him not to disturb my life again, or he would face the consequences.
Han Feng left in despair, while I held Yan tightly, feeling his warmth and heartbeat.
I knew I had found my home and happiness.
No matter what difficulties and challenges we might face in the future, we would confront them together, protecting this forest and every living being within it.
