Xue's injuries were severe, but fortunately, he was rushed to the hospital overnight. Jufeng used his savings to cover the medical expenses and stayed up almost the entire night taking care of Xue. 0

He had sent Tong Bailong home early, as Tong, being the vice captain, would face trouble for an unexcused absence. Romain himself called his counselor to request a leave of absence; given Xue's condition, it seemed likely that his military training would be canceled. 0

By morning, Xue's condition had gradually stabilized, but he had not yet regained consciousness. After resting for a while, Romain planned to go to the water room to wash his face when he unexpectedly ran into a familiar face. 0

“It’s you! What are you doing here?” 0

As the familiar scent of Jasmine wafted towards him, Romain couldn't help but feel that this was quite a coincidence. Ever since that day he had casually offered help, he seemed to encounter this beautiful girl almost every day. 0

“Hello, Sister Lu. I have a friend who was injured, so I came to the hospital to take care of him. Are you sick too?” 0

“Oh, I’m here with a younger sister who got a bit heatstroke during the freshman military training. I brought her here to get some cooling medicine.” 0

“I see. Well, you take care of your business; I’ll excuse myself for now. Goodbye.” 0

“I…” 0

Lu Qijia wanted to express her gratitude further, but Jufeng seemed oblivious and walked away, leaving her feeling quite frustrated. Several times she wanted to thank this somewhat aloof young man properly, but he always hurried off. 0

Why was he avoiding her? 0

“Sister Dai, what’s wrong? You look lost in thought; I turned around and you were gone.” 0

Just as Lu Qijia was pondering this, another stunning beauty emerged from the nearby medical room. Unlike Lu Qijia, this girl lacked a bit of elegance but made up for it with liveliness and charm. She appeared slightly younger and wore plain camouflage clothing that did little to hide her alluring curves. 0

“Oh, I… I’m fine; I just suddenly remembered something. Sister Four, why don’t you head back to the villa alone? I’ll help you request leave from school. Come back and experience life once you're feeling better. I have to go now; please be careful.” 0

With that, Lu Qijia hurried away, leaving Sister Four puzzled behind her. Sister Four thought to herself that Sister Dai was usually so composed; why was she suddenly acting so impatient? She hadn’t even been this anxious when she herself was sick—how annoying! 0

After bidding farewell to Sister Four, Lu Qijia rushed toward the nurse's station. Using some privilege she had, she accessed the recent hospitalization list and discovered that one patient's surgery form was signed by Jufeng. She quickly noted down the patient’s room number and then bought a lot of fruit from outside the hospital before composing herself for an unexpected visit. 0

The door to the hospital room creaked open, and Jufeng looked up to see Lu Qijia unexpectedly appearing before him, someone he had just said goodbye to. 0

"You...?" 0

"Shh!" 0

Lu Qijia raised a delicate finger to her lips, signaling for silence. She placed some fruit on the bedside and elegantly said, "I want to talk to you. Refusing a girl is not a quality a gentleman should possess." 0

Hearing this, Romain glanced back at Xue, who was still sound asleep, and could only nod in response. 0

In the hospital café, the atmosphere was unusually serene. Romain and Lu Qijia sat at a window-side table, each ordering a cup of coffee but remaining silent for a while. Finally, it was Lu Qijia who broke the awkwardness. 0

"Actually, I don't mean anything by it; I'm just curious. How does someone with such skills end up as a courier?" 0

Lu Qijia gently lifted her exquisite coffee cup, her previously tense demeanor now transformed into that of a poised young lady. She was indeed very curious; although she had not witnessed Romain's abilities firsthand, she could imagine the scene from her friends' accounts and the final outcome. Young girls often harbor admiration and longing for heroes, and despite her prestigious background, Lu Qijia was no exception. 0

However, Romain frowned slightly at her words. "Sister Lu, I don't think you're just a pretty face, so I find it surprising that such an unproductive question would come from you. Everyone has their own aspirations; I see nothing wrong with being a courier. We come from different worlds; it would be best if you kept your curiosity to yourself." 0

Romain's words were undeniably harsh. Lu Qijia had not expected that even after lowering herself to approach him, she would still face rejection, leaving her feeling quite dejected. 0

" Jufeng, I've tried to reach out to you multiple times just to say thank you. You really don't need to be so cold." 0

She placed her coffee cup on the glass table with a bit more force than intended due to her frustration, causing it to clink sharply against the surface. 0

Seeing this, Romain sighed helplessly and stood up. "Sister Lu, I lost my temper just now; I'm sorry. I have a friend in the hospital and things have been quite overwhelming lately, so please forgive me. Your thanks have already been acknowledged; there won't be any dramatic soap opera moments between us, so let's part ways here." 0

With that, Romain turned and disappeared from Lu Qijia's sight. At that moment, his mind was preoccupied with worries about Xue's injuries and his entanglements with the gangsters; he simply did not have the mood for idle conversation. 0

Yet for some reason, the more distant Romain became, the more curious Lu Qijia felt about him. This feeling was something she had never experienced before, leaving her increasingly flustered. 0

After leaving the hospital, Lu Qijia returned to Azure Water Villa. The large floor-to-ceiling windows had been repaired and reinforced with high-grade materials that even bullets couldn't penetrate. Many of the damaged furnishings in the room had been replaced with new ones. Despite having endured calamity, the villa remained as splendid as ever. 0

"Sister Dai, you rushed out just now. What happened? After knowing you for so many years, I've never seen you act this way." 0

Sister Four came down the stairs wearing a cute and refreshing spaghetti strap dress, lazily holding a bag of snacks. Lu Qijia seemed a bit listless and casually muttered that nothing was wrong as she leaned back on the sofa. 0

According to Xunru's speculation, this villa was indeed the living quarters of the Five Sisters Group. At that moment, only three girls were present in the villa, as Eldest Sister and the others were busy with their own matters. 0

Second Sister followed closely behind Sister Four, slowly descending the stairs. Upon seeing Lu Qijia sitting on the sofa with a somewhat dejected expression, she cast a questioning glance at Sister Four. However, Sister Four could only shrug her shoulders in confusion. Thus, Second Sister settled down beside Sister Dai. 0

"Sister Dai, are you still worried about that robbery incident? Don't worry; I've already talked to Dad. They will definitely investigate thoroughly." 0

"Yeah, I'm fine. No need to worry about me." 0

Although Lu Qijia said that, anyone could tell that the girl was distracted. Sister Four chimed in, "Second Sister, how about we hire a bodyguard? That way we can feel safer. I think that delivery guy downstairs is pretty good; he looks decent and most importantly, his skills are impressive. It would be a shame if he didn't come to learn mecha." 0

Sister Four was also a freshman at Huan City University, majoring in Mecha like Jufeng, but their paths had yet to cross during the few days since school started. 0

"Bodyguard!" 0

"Bodyguard?" 0

The same word came out of both Sister Dai's and Second Sister's mouths, but their attitudes were clearly different. 0

"Is it really okay for us five girls to hire a male bodyguard?" Second Sister seemed a bit concerned. 0

"Sister Four, your idea is great! We have extra guest rooms downstairs; it wouldn't be inconvenient at all. I'll go find him right now." 0

Sister Dai said this and stood up quickly before she had even warmed the seat on the sofa. She grabbed her bag and dashed out. 0

"Second Sister, call Eldest Sister and the others to let them know. I think they won't object," Lu Qijia's figure quickly disappeared at the door, leaving Second Sister and Sister Four looking astonished. 0

"Sister Four, are you sure it was Sister Dai who accompanied you to the hospital and not the other way around?" 0

Lu Qijia hurried back to the hospital, navigating the familiar corridors with ease until she reached Xue's room. After tidying herself up a bit, she pushed the door open. 0

Inside, Xue had already regained consciousness and was deep in conversation with Jufeng. Upon seeing the stunning woman enter, both paused their discussion instinctively. 0

"Sister Lu," Jufeng said, his irritation evident as he recognized her. He thought to himself how this woman was like a stubborn piece of gum that just wouldn't come off. His tone grew sharper. "I believe if you don't provide a reasonable explanation, I will have to accuse you of harassment. There are limits to my patience." 0

"Well, I understand. This time it's serious business. I want to hire you as a bodyguard for my sisters. It's at the villa you've been to before, and the pay is quite generous—food and accommodation included. What do you think?" 0

Seeing Jufeng's annoyance, Lu Qijia quickly sped up her speech, hoping not to aggravate the bodyguard she admired; otherwise, all her efforts would be in vain. 0

"Bodyguard?" Jufeng was taken aback that Lu Qijia had actually found a legitimate reason this time. He glanced at Xue, who lay on the bed looking confused, then thought for a moment and said, "Let's step outside." 0

As September began, the temperature shifted from intense heat to a more moderate warmth; the oppressive summer winds gradually subsided, and the air became pleasantly cool. 0

"Why do you want me as a bodyguard?" 0

Lu Qijia hadn't expected Jufeng to be so direct; she was momentarily taken aback but soon regained her composure. 0

"I... I trust your abilities. They believe in your decisiveness and character, which is why we decided together." 0

Jufeng pondered for a moment before asking, "And what about payment? To be honest, I'm a bit tight on cash lately, so forgive me for being so pragmatic." 0

"Oh, that's fine," Lu Qijia said lightly as she raised her delicate hand to adjust her hair, a hint of joy crossing her face. "The price is negotiable; you can decide." 0

Jufeng was surprised by such favorable terms—he could set his own price. However, considering the reputation of the five sisters, he knew it wouldn't be an issue. Still, he wouldn't settle for anything less than fair; he planned to consult the bodyguard market later before making a decision. 0

"You know I'm also a student, so my availability might be limited. Is that okay with you? Also, I'm aware of your identities; aren't you worried about media exposure?" 0

"Time won't be an issue," Lu Qijia replied quickly. "As long as you stay overnight at the villa. And don't worry about the media; no one dares report on us. So, are you agreeing?" 0

"Well, I'll go tonight. You should greet them and not make it too abrupt." 0

Lu Qijia readily agreed and hurriedly took his leave. 0

Jufeng returned to the ward, where Xue had not yet rested. Seeing Jufeng's expression, Xue guessed his situation. 0

"I owe you an apology this time," Xue said. "Not only did I get you involved in a murder, but now you have to earn money to support me. I feel a bit embarrassed." 0

Jufeng smiled lightly, saying nothing more, but he knew that after taking a life, perhaps the journey of life would change drastically. 0
