They heard a sound coming from above, leaving them stunned and breathless, with some girls already crouching on the ground, crying in despair.
No one noticed that a beam of light suddenly appeared at the dark school gate, and a plump figure was approaching. It was Hu Yalong.
As Hu Yalong stepped out of the school gate, he saw Li Hongze and his group standing not far from the entrance, each face marked with fear. One girl lay on the ground, unconscious.
Hu Yalong felt a bit puzzled. He walked over, shining his flashlight on the crowd, and shouted, "Hongze, Lan Yue! What are you doing over there?"
"Fatty, come here quickly!" Li Hongze called out upon hearing Hu Yalong's voice. He hurriedly pulled Hu Yalong closer and said, "There's a ghost here! We've been trapped for a long time!"
Li Hongze felt somewhat guilty; it was he who had called Hu Yalong over, effectively dragging him into this mess.
"Hehe! I didn't expect someone to come willingly to die!" The eerie voice echoed again from above the crowd.
Hu Yalong shone his flashlight upward and asked, "Auntie, what are you doing up there?"
Li Hongze and the others looked in the direction Hu Yalong was shining the light but saw nothing. However, in Hu Yalong's eyes, there stood an old woman with a wrinkled face.
Even I didn't anticipate that under the influence of my jade pendant, Hu Yalong would activate the Wisdom Eye and be able to see those low-level spirits.
"Hehe! You can see me?" The Aunt Ghost asked incredulously. She tried shifting positions several times, but each time Hu Yalong managed to shine the light directly on her.
The reason ghosts are frightening is mainly because living people cannot see them; they are unaware of their movements and feel uncertain. But since Hu Yalong could see this ghost now, he felt little fear.
Hu Yalong shook his head and said, "Auntie, if you're fine, just go home! I need to take my friends back!"
After saying that, he grabbed Li Hongze and Lan Yue and headed toward the school gate.
"Brother Fatty, wait for me!" The girls in the crowd rushed to Hu Yalong's side upon hearing his words, clutching his clothes and refusing to let go. The boys remained silent but followed closely behind him.
Hu Yalong had never been surrounded by so many girls before, and the feeling of being needed greatly satisfied his vanity.
He held the hand of the prettiest girl beside him and smiled, saying, "Don't be afraid, little sister! With Brother Fat here, no one can hurt you!"
The girl was terrified, but when she felt Hu Yalong's hand in hers, she didn't feel repulsed; instead, a sense of safety washed over her.
Li Hongze walked over and lifted the girl from the ground. Under Hu Yalong's lead, they headed toward the school gate.
Previously, they would only take a few steps before ending up back where they started. But this time, they didn’t circle back; they were getting closer to the school gate, and they could even see the glow of the streetlights inside.
The reason they had been trapped outside was that they had encountered a wall of illusions. Their eyes had been misled by false images. They thought they were moving forward when in reality, they were just going in circles.
The girl who had fallen earlier did so because she couldn't see the real surroundings and crashed into a tree by the roadside.
With his Wisdom Eye activated and his protective jade pendant on him, Hu Yalong knew that ordinary illusions couldn't trap him.
"Stop right there!" The Aunt Ghost screeched angrily as she lunged toward Hu Yalong with claws outstretched.
Li Hongze and the others couldn’t see the Aunt Ghost, but they felt a sudden chill sweep past them. They knew she was near and instinctively ran away.
Seeing the approaching Aunt Ghost startled Hu Yalong as well. Although he had activated his Wisdom Eye, he wasn't sure how to deal with a ghost.
He handed his flashlight to the girl he had just spoken to and said, "You all go! I'll handle this ghost!"
Li Hongze could already see the lights inside the school; they were about to escape the range of the illusion. Even without Hu Yalong leading them, getting out wouldn’t be a problem.
"Fatty, don’t be reckless! Come with us!" Lan Yue urged as she grabbed Hu Yalong's hand.
Hu Yalong shook his head and insisted, "You all go! I have a way to deal with this ghost!"
Lan Yue and Hu Yalong had been together for three years. He knew that whenever Hu Yalong was just making things up, he would blink, so he could see right through him.
Li Hongze handed the unconscious girl to a nearby boy and said, "You all need to leave! My brothers and I will handle this ghost!"
The girls looked at Hu Yalong and the three of them with admiration, while the boys remained silent, none of them choosing to run away alone.
"Don't hold us back here! Brother Fat, I don't have time to protect you!" Hu Yalong looked at the group in front of him, feeling somewhat moved. His blood was boiling, and he swung his fist, shouting as he charged at the Aunt Ghost.
Although Li Hongze and Lan Yue couldn't see the Aunt Ghost, they followed Hu Yalong closely and rushed forward. As long as Hu Yalong struck in that direction, they would too.
"Let's go!" Seeing that they couldn't help, the group ultimately chose to leave.
About a minute later, only Hu Yalong and his two companions stood at the school gate, surrounded by darkness with no light in sight.
They had thrown a dozen punches at the Aunt Ghost, but each time it felt like they were hitting nothing but air; they inflicted no damage on her.
The longer they stayed, the more frightened they became. Noticing that the others had left, Hu Yalong exchanged a glance with Li Hongze and Lan Yue and said, "Hongze, Lan Yue, we should retreat!"
Upon hearing Hu Yalong's words, the Aunt Ghost let out a ghostly laugh and said, "Hehe! I didn't expect you three to be so loyal! Since you've chosen to stay, then don't think about leaving!"
This Aunt Ghost was more powerful than the previous ghost, Zhang Ying. She had been toying with Hu Yalong and his friends all along without truly attacking. Now that she was bored with her games, she was ready to take action against them. She declared, "Now you will die!"
A sinister smile spread across the Aunt Ghost's face as she flickered and vanished from Hu Yalong's sight.
"Watch out!" Hu Yalong realized he had lost sight of the Aunt Ghost. Sensing something was wrong, he quickly warned Li Hongze and Lan Yue beside him.
"Hehe! Which one should I kill first?!" The Aunt Ghost's eerie laughter echoed around them, causing Hu Yalong and his friends to huddle together back-to-back in fear.
"I'll just kill you first!" The moment she finished speaking, she appeared right in front of Hu Yalong. She reached out her hands toward his neck, intending to drain his Yang Qi.
Hu Yalong struggled to catch his breath as Aunt Ghost tightened her grip around his throat. Suddenly, the jade pendant around his neck emitted a brilliant golden light, sending Aunt Ghost flying backward.
"Cough, cough!" Once released by Aunt Ghost, Hu Yalong crouched on the ground, gasping for air as the golden light from the pendant faded away.
Aunt Ghost looked at the jade pendant on Hu Yalong with a hint of fear. She snorted coldly and said ominously, "I didn't expect you to have a protective artifact! Hmph, consider yourself lucky! But the other two of you won't be so fortunate! Just wait to be killed by me! Hehe!"
After finishing her taunt, Aunt Ghost immediately lunged at Li Hongze. This time, she wasn't planning to absorb Li Hongze's Yang Qi; instead, she reached out to claw at his chest.
Although Li Hongze couldn't see Aunt Ghost, he felt an eerie energy swirling in front of him, and the atmosphere around him became suffocating. A sense of foreboding rose within him, prompting him to instinctively dodge to the side.
"Ah!" Li Hongze let out a scream as a deep gash opened on his left arm, blood gushing out uncontrollably.
Aunt Ghost extended her tongue to lick the blood off her hand, revealing a greedy expression on her face. She chuckled darkly, "Hehe! I didn't expect you to evade me! But next time, you won't be so lucky!"
With that, Aunt Ghost vanished and charged at Li Hongze once more.
"Die!" Aunt Ghost's speed was astonishing as she appeared behind Li Hongze, reaching for his heart.
"My brother Jiang Ling is not someone you can touch!" I pushed Li Hongze aside and stepped in front of Aunt Ghost, grabbing her right hand and throwing her aside.
