Rao Jie stiffened, his face showing even more discomfort. However, Wu Rong's cough was not meant for Rao Jie to hear. Wu Rong's gaze swept over Rao Jie and landed behind him, where the pointed cough was immediately caught by the ever-cooperative Ye Ming.
Ye Ming was actually the last to arrive, standing right behind Rao Jie. He probably hadn’t expected such an awkward scene. Moreover, he was now the department head; what did Wu Rong want him to do? But… he couldn’t just ignore it! After all, they were good brothers.

In the back of the vehicle, Chang Fei nearly ground her teeth in frustration. She had arrived a bit late as well, but there were still some empty seats available. The only vacant spot at the front was next to Wu Rong. Although Chang Fei felt shy, she was pushed by her companions and ‘accidentally’ leaned into the empty seat beside Wu Rong.
It was only reasonable for her to sit down like this. Moreover, her two sisters had already excitedly taken their seats behind Wu Rong. Chang Fei wanted to be closer to her sisters to talk with them, and sitting here was just perfect.

Chang Fei had actually noticed Rao Jie when she arrived. She had been following the previous Research Controversy closely and always felt that the relationship between Wu Rong and Rao Jie was not as simple as it seemed, yet it didn’t appear that they were truly dating. After all, she knew Long Yong was pursuing Rao Jie, so she held onto the hope that Wu Rong was merely looking out for her sister's friend.
Even though Wu Rong's attitude towards Rao Jie was clearly different from how he treated others, Chang Fei still refused to believe she would lose out to Rao Jie. However, just moments ago, Rao Jie had taken the very spot Chang Fei wanted to occupy, and Wu Rong had rejected her for Rao Jie.
This only fueled Chang Fei's dissatisfaction further. Her sisters tried to comfort her in hushed tones, saying, "Maybe it's just because she's a friend of your sister's that they're familiar with each other and naturally want to sit together. I heard Long Yong invited her."
Chang Fei didn't agree; could anyone be more familiar than the director? Although Chang Fei was beautiful, she still had a somewhat cold demeanor, and her sisters dared not press the matter further.
In truth, they had only heard that Long Yong was going to invite Rao Jie but were unaware that Rao Jie had actually come as Ye Ming's friend. Regardless of the feelings of those in the car, it began to move.
