It was only when the car suddenly came to a halt and the noise began to rise that Rao Jie finally opened her eyes.
To her surprise, she realized that at some point, it was no longer Wu Rong leaning against her; instead, she had fallen asleep in his embrace. Wu Rong sat upright, one hand propped against the edge of the window, chin resting on his palm as he gazed at her. The other hand was loosely wrapped around her.
Seeing her awake, he withdrew his hand and smiled, "You still fall asleep so easily. You wouldn’t even know if someone carried you away."
Rao Jie jolted upright, her eyes wide as she stared at him. How could she not have felt the change in position?
Wu Rong's smile widened even more. However, Rao Jie’s anxious glances around made his grin falter.
He wrinkled his nose in dissatisfaction and asked, "What’s wrong? Afraid someone might see?"
Rao Jie paused, instantly knowing who he was referring to. "No, it’s just... what if someone sees us? We..." She trailed off, not wanting to finish her thought. Even though they weren’t in a serious relationship yet, being seen like this still felt awkward.
Unlike Wu Rong, Rao Jie wasn’t the type to exude absolute confidence. Like most people, she couldn’t help but care about how others perceived her.
Wu Rong snorted and said, "See what? Are you guilty of something? Besides drooling on me while you slept, there’s nothing else."
Rao Jie gasped and quickly covered her mouth, all her previous worries vanishing as embarrassment flooded in. Had she really drooled while sleeping?
She couldn’t help but glance at the spot on Wu Rong’s coat where she had been resting; it seemed there were no marks left behind. Moreover, her mouth felt dry—there was nothing sticky or wet at all.
Confused, she looked over at Wu Rong, who burst into laughter again.
Realizing she had been teased, Rao Jie felt her face heat up. How could he joke like that with a girl? Did Wu Rong really like her? What kind of flirting was this?
She couldn’t help but want to hit him playfully when someone called out to her from nearby.
"Rao Jie, it’s time to get off the car."
It was Senior Sister's voice.
Rao Jie quickly retracted her hand and turned around just in time to see Senior Sister and Long Yong getting up from their seats. As their eyes met with Long Yong's, Rao Jie inexplicably felt a twinge of guilt.
Senior Sister saw nothing ahead, but Long Yong did.
He witnessed Wu Rong casting a provocative glance at him before helping Rao Jie lean against him. To his surprise, Rao Jie was sleeping so soundly that she remained undisturbed. Was he really someone who could make her feel this safe?
It had to be said that Wu Rong's actions were a successful provocation, leaving Long Yong filled with frustration. But what could he do? He had made a miscalculation and could only concede defeat, pretending not to see anything as he smiled at Rao Jie. He deliberately stayed in his position, waiting for Rao Jie to come out first to avoid crowding together.
However, after Rao Jie passed by, Long Yong didn't let Wu Rong take the lead; instead, he followed Rao Jie closely, chatting and inviting her to eat.
For the next short stretch of the path, while Wu Rong separated from Rao Jie, Long Yong followed her without hesitation.
Cloud Mountain Hot Springs was nestled halfway up the mountain, with hot springs drawn down from the peak. The designs varied, temperatures differed, and there were many types available, making it one of the best leisure spots in winter.
The rooms here needed to be booked in advance; sometimes there were no vacancies at all. After settling into their assigned rooms and dropping off their luggage, they could head out to enjoy the warmth and fun.
