"That's not it," Zhang Ye's expression grew increasingly unnatural, lacking the earlier bravado he had shown while fighting the Demon Wolf. He seemed more like a child who had done something wrong, becoming somewhat anxious.
"Damn it, just do it already," Zhang Father urged as Zhang Ye hesitated to unbutton his pants. "We're all grown men here; why are you being shy?"
"No, no, I'm afraid... I'm afraid it won't work," Zhang Ye's voice was barely audible, only he could hear it.
"What? I didn't catch that."
"It won't work!" Zhang Ye finally blurted out.
"What do you mean it won't work?" Zhang Father cursed. "Damn it, are you trying to kill your father or what?"
"What!" Zhang Father finally understood, his voice suddenly rising an octave. "When the hell did you...?" He instinctively grabbed a nearby rock and threw it at Zhang Ye.
"When the hell did you... with whom?" Zhang Father trembled with anger, pointing at Zhang Ye. "You're barely eighteen! Who is it? Is it that girl who always has her arms exposed and walks with a sway?"
"She has a name! What year is it now? How can you be so outdated?" Zhang Ye retorted boldly, leaning forward.
"I'm outdated? As long as I'm still above ground, you have no right to act like this," Zhang Father shot back.
"Alright, both of you calm down. What time is it? We can sort this out later—who has Boys' Urine right now?"
With a shout from Zhang Laosi, both Zhang Ye and his father settled down. The three of them turned their attention to Wei Ning, who was slowly regaining consciousness.
"Is this kid still a virgin? Kids these days are something else," Zhang Ye muttered under his breath. Zhang Father shot him a glare.
"Why is everyone looking at me?" Wei Ning asked, confused as he looked at Zhang Laosi.
"Virgin boy, go take a piss," Zhang Ye said as he stepped back towards Wei Ning and handed him the knife he was holding.
Wei Ning was still confused.
"Quick, or we will all die. Your grandfather will be the first to go," Zhang Ye said as he yanked down Wei Ning's pants.
"Hurry up." At this moment, Zhang Laosi was too impatient to explain and urged them on.
Over there, Crimson Evil seemed to be temporarily inactive, while Demon Wolf was watching them with keen interest. Meanwhile, that strange person was sitting cross-legged on a grave, seemingly asleep.
Wei Ning glanced at his grandfather, who nodded in encouragement.
Gathering his strength, Wei Ning felt a slight urge to urinate, but Zhang Ye's urging startled him, causing his face to flush red. After a struggle, he managed to let out a few drops.
"That's enough." Zhang Ye's eyes lit up as he wiped the blade with his hand. "Good stuff. Thank you." He then lewdly grabbed Wei Ning's private area.
Wei Ning hurriedly pulled his pants back up in shock.
Zhang Ye brandished the knife in the wind, exuding an air of invincibility, though the absence of two front teeth significantly diminished his heroic demeanor.
"You filthy thing, today I will cut off your manhood and soak it in wine," Demon Wolf growled angrily and lunged at Zhang Ye.
"Hey!"
Zhang Ye sidestepped and swept the knife across Demon Wolf's belly, splattering a foul black liquid. Clearly taken by surprise that Zhang Ye's blade had been "enhanced," Demon Wolf rolled his eyes back and let out a reluctant groan before collapsing.
"Hehe," Zhang Ye appeared somewhat excited. "Is that all there is to it?" He walked over to Demon Wolf's side and exclaimed, "Wow, wow, wow! Good stuff! So big!" He then cut off the prize and declared, "This is a great tonic."
"Eat that, and I guarantee you won't be able to get it up for three years," Wei Qiuxi said irritably as he removed the last of the Three Corpse Worms from his body.
"Oh, then forget it." Zhang Ye tossed aside what he was holding and walked back with his sword.
Wei Qiuxi stood up, puzzled as to why Crimson Evil had not attacked earlier. They had calmly removed the Three Corpse Worms from their bodies. He noticed that Crimson Evil's eyes were half-closed, and the previously damaged head had miraculously healed. The features on the face gradually returned to normal, the skin took on a healthy hue, and the entire body seemed rejuvenated, subtly revealing feminine characteristics.
In stark contrast, the unfortunate Secretary Yang's corpse was slowly decaying, with indistinct features. The Three Corpse Worms that had been on Crimson Evil were now crawling all over him.
The strange figure seemed to be in a trance, oblivious to the outside world.
"What time is it now?" Wei Qiuxi suddenly asked.
"It's almost one o'clock," Zhang Laosi replied, glancing at his watch under the moonlight.
"Not good." Wei Qiuxi exclaimed urgently, "Quick, everyone go to that grave!" He dashed towards the grave where Wei Ning was located.
"What's wrong?"
Wei Qiuxi pulled out a Chen State Talisman, ignited it, and consumed the ashes. The burns on his body seemed to heal significantly. Wei Ning looked at his grandfather, covered in injuries, nearly bursting into tears. Little did he know that Wei Qiuxi had used the only ghost-repelling talisman on himself; otherwise, he wouldn't have suffered such burns.
After comforting Wei Ning briefly, Wei Qiuxi explained to everyone, "That person is performing the Ghost Borrowing a Corpse technique."
"What is Ghost Borrowing a Corpse?" The three members of the Zhang Clan clearly did not understand.
Wei Qiuxi took out a bag containing Cinnabar and sprinkled it carefully over the grave. He suddenly asked, "When a person dies, is their last breath an inhale or an exhale?"
"Who knows?" Zhang Ye was clearly caught off guard by Wei Qiuxi's unexpected question and scratched his head.
"It should be an exhale; inhaling would be too strenuous," Zhang Laosi answered.
"It truly is about exhaling," Wei Qiuxi nodded. "This is the most essential breath in a person's life. The secret of us Corpse Drivers lies here: we use Cinnabar to seal the seven orifices just before a person dies, preventing them from exhaling their last breath. By relying on this breath, combined with our secret techniques, we can make the dead move like the living."
"Oh," Zhang Family said, their faces reflecting a newfound understanding of the Corpse Driver's secret arts.
Wei Qiuxi continued, "Do you know about the Corpse Raising Ground?"
Zhang Laosi, being someone who dealt with such matters, naturally knew. "I've heard it's a place of evil and coldness. If someone is buried there, their soul becomes restless and they turn into a Zombie. Some even affect their descendants."
Wei Qiuxi nodded. "In our Chen Prefecture lineage, there is a type of dark art called 'raising corpses,' which involves burying a person in the Corpse Raising Ground to refine them into Zombies for the purpose of causing harm. However, the Corpse Raising Ground is rare and hard to find. People resort to alternatives like Black Cats or chicken blood in damp and cold places to raise corpses, but the Zombies produced this way are not very powerful; some even die upon exposure to light."
"Oh, I see now. This person must have been raising corpses, and that Zombie was one of his creations," Zhang Ye said.
"Alas," Wei Qiuxi sighed. "If he were merely raising corpses for revenge, once he achieved it, he would likely let the Zombie rest in peace, causing little trouble. I wouldn't bother with it. But I never expected his heart to be so malicious as to attempt to create a Drought Corpse!"
"What is a Drought Corpse?"
"Zombies can be classified into six levels: First is the White Fury; after entering the Corpse Raising Ground, a month later they begin to grow soft white fur all over their bodies. These Zombies move slowly and are very easy to deal with; they fear sunlight, fire, water, chickens, dogs, and especially humans. Second is the Black Corpse; if a White Zombie consumes enough blood from cattle and sheep over several years, it will shed its white fur for black fur several inches long. At this stage, they still fear sunlight and fire but start to lose their fear of chickens and dogs; generally speaking, Black Corpses will avoid humans and only feed on blood while people are asleep. Then there’s Crimson Evil; they can directly consume human essence. After cultivating for a thousand years and surviving the Calamity of Thunder, Earth, and Fire, they can become Drought Corpses. Drought Corpses possess intelligence and can easily turn an entire state or county into a barren wasteland if they wish."
Zhang Ye swallowed hard. "That's incredibly powerful."
"And Ghost Borrowing a Corpse is the most sinister technique among corpse-raising arts. It utilizes Crimson Evil to consume the last breath of the God of Joy, leading to a qualitative transformation that allows Crimson Evil to leap into becoming a Drought Corpse during the Calamity of Thunder, Earth, and Fire period. If it survives the Inferno of Thunder, then Crimson Evil will become an exceptionally rare Drought Corpse; at that time, not just Guan Zhuang Town but perhaps all of Yuanling will face an unprecedented drought."
