Wei Qiuxi shot him a glance, revealing an expression that suggested if she could have killed him, she would have done so already. 0

"What do we do now?" 0

"Just now, while we were entangled with the Three Corpse Worms and the Demon Wolf, he activated the Calamity of Thunder, Earth, and Fire. As for the outcome, we can only leave it to fate. However, from what I know, no one should be able to raise a Drought Corpse yet." 0

"Damn, that's as good as nothing," Zhang Ye replied irritably. 0

Wei Qiuxi chose not to argue with him, but Wei Ning couldn't hold back and retorted, "Oh, so you're the smart one now." 0

"You little brat, you haven't even grown up yet," Zhang Ye snapped at Wei Ning. 0

Wei Ning puffed out his chest and said, "I may be a brat, but at least I'm not like some people who can't even ask for a bit of Boys' Urine." 0

Zhang Ye fell completely silent. 0

Zhang Father's gaze was murderous. 0

Wei Qiuxi pulled out several talismans from her pocket and placed them on the stone at the grave. "It's already one o'clock. It's too late for us to leave now. This is the last Chen State Talisman I have; let's take a gamble." 0

"Gamble on what?" Zhang Ye asked, confused. 0

"On our lives." 0

At that moment, the strange man who had been sitting quietly with his head down pointed his Corpse Stick upward and shouted, "Life for me, my life for you. If you betray me, your life will not be spared. Life for life; break the bonds of morality. I shall scatter my soul while you share my fate." 0

The strange man waved his hands with the Corpse Driving Stick pointing into the air, gesturing wildly. Standing atop the grave mound with disheveled hair and blood-red eyes, he seemed to summon an ominous chill that swept through the air. With a flourish of his hands, he scattered a flurry of talismans that began to dance in the wind. 0

"Rise!" the strange man shouted. 0

"Old man, what's that person doing, acting all mysterious?" Zhang Ye asked. 0

Wei Qiuxi frowned and replied, "I don't know. This is the first time I've seen such a spell. I've rarely heard my seniors mention it before. Let's just watch." 0

Suddenly, a fierce wind began to blow, and the talismans started to flutter in the breeze. The man abruptly cut the artery in his right arm with a knife, blood gushing out and splattering onto the talismans dancing in the air. 0

"That man is crazy!" Zhang Ye exclaimed in shock. 0

"A strong wind, a strong wind, bring on the wind," the man cried out, his hair now wild and flowing in the gusts, his face looking ghastly and terrifying. 0

The entire Grave Hill seemed to tremble slightly as wisps of white mist began to rise from countless graves, growing thicker and moving closer to the strange man. 0

"Hold your breath," Wei Qiuxi shouted, covering Wei Ning's nose with his hand. 0

The white mist thickened but remained undisturbed by the wind, surrounding Crimson Evil as if it were tangible. Crimson Evil appeared to be enveloped in a thin veil, becoming increasingly indistinct. Slowly, the mist was drawn into Crimson Evil's nostrils, and everyone noticed that Crimson Evil was transforming, becoming translucent like shedding skin. His features became clearer, revealing the shape of a beautiful figure gradually taking form. 0

"Good, good, good!" the strange man exclaimed three times in succession. With a wave of his hands, the blood no longer spurted forth; instead, the talismans soaked in blood began to sink slowly to the ground due to gravity. 0

"The death energy produced after that person dies can cause harm if absorbed by the living. The lighter effects lead to confusion and idiocy; the heavier ones result in direct encounters with Yama." 0

Zhang Ye swallowed hard, feeling a wave of fear wash over him. 0

The wind grew stronger, causing discomfort among the onlookers. However, the talismans that Wei Qiuxi had affixed to Grave Hill remained firmly stuck to the stones, unmoving. 0

"Ha ha." The man cackled, "Bring the thunder. Bring the thunder." 0

As soon as the strange man's words fell, dark clouds began to gather in the sky. A flash of lightning struck down directly onto his head. The man, holding the Corpse Driving Stick, did not flinch or evade; he welcomed the lightning. 0

After the strike, his clothes were tattered and torn, flapping in the wind like ragged pieces of cloth. His body was charred in several places from the lightning, yet he stood upright, laughter still echoing. 0

"Good thunder, good thunder, bring more, bring more." 0

Wei Qiuxi suddenly had a flash of insight and exclaimed, "I see now! He is taking this lightning punishment for the Drought Corpse!" 0

"What do you mean?" 0

"This means he might be using a kind of illusion spell to deceive the heavens into thinking he is the Drought Corpse about to face calamity, thus bringing this Calamity of Thunder, Earth, and Fire upon himself while allowing the Drought Corpse to safely pass through the tribulation unscathed." 0

"What? But doesn't that mean he will die?" 0

Wei Qiuxi sighed and said, "It's more than just death. The Drought Corpse, who has cultivated for a thousand years, cannot withstand this Inferno punishment. For him, a Mundane Person, it would likely mean his soul scattering and never being reborn." 0

"He must be tired of living," Zhang Ye concluded. 0

At that moment, many questions that had lingered in Wei Qiuxi's mind began to resolve. He had always wondered why this man would go to such lengths for revenge when he could have easily created a White Fury or Black Fiend. Why spend decades cultivating this Drought Corpse and even willingly endure this Inferno punishment? 0

He recalled the way the man looked at Crimson Evil and remembered how he referred to it as "Rou." 0

Wei Qiuxi could conclude that it was not merely revenge; he was trying to resurrect someone he called Rou. 0

Drought Corpse Although it is not human, it possesses a human body and thoughts, so one could say it has been "revived." 0

Aging, illness, and death are natural laws; to bring someone back to life is to go against the flow of nature, which is no easy feat! Throughout history, how many have attempted this? 0

Wei Qiuxi seemed to recall something, letting out a sigh as his expression suddenly grew complex. 0

Perhaps someone had indeed tried. Perhaps someone was just a step away from success. 0

Although Wei Qiuxi did not know the relationship between this person and the "gentle" one he spoke of, he should understand that this person loved her deeply—so deeply that he spent decades in the company of corpses, practicing the horrifying and grotesque art of corpse nurturing, willing to suffer the wrath of Inferno, risking his very soul. 0

If one hates another, they would cause their soul to scatter, never to be reborn. But if one loves another, they would willingly sacrifice their own soul for that person, also never to be reborn. 0

Wei Qiu sighed as he looked at his grandson, who was still naive and ignorant about love between men and women. 0

“Lightning, bring on more lightning!” The man’s face was like that of a demon; bolts of lightning struck him repeatedly. His body was charred beyond recognition, with some areas revealing burnt bones. Yet he continued to laugh maniacally as the Corpse Driving Stick pierced the air. The talismans surrounding him began to ignite spontaneously without wind. 0

Wei Qiuxi covered his grandson's eyes; he did not want the tortures of this world to leave a shadow in his grandson's heart. He couldn't help but silently lament that if it weren't for the Corpse Driving Stick acting as a lightning rod, this man would have long since become a charred corpse. 0

Even Zhang Ye, who usually looked down on others, was left speechless. After a long pause, he finally exhaled and said: 0

“Impressive.” 0
