Cold water could not alleviate the pain, but it stimulated my dulled nerves, making my eyes brighten. In my prone position, I easily spotted the One-Eyed Beast Flashlight lying in the water beside me. I first brought it back to my mouth once more. 0

There was no sign of the giant python on the pavement, nor could I see any Lao People. My feelings were complex; I was relieved to have escaped death, yet extremely worried about the safety of the two Lao People. I did not believe the giant python would retreat so easily. The two Lao People in the water were in greater danger than I was, and it was highly likely that the snake would change its target. If that happened, they would have no chance of survival. 0

However, I soon realized my worries were unnecessary. Although I had not found the two Lao People, the giant python quickly appeared under the white light of the One-Eyed Beast. It slithered behind a log, its massive body resembling a twisting chimney, intermittently visible from behind the wood. 0

I changed magazines as quickly as I could. However, this was the slowest I had ever changed a magazine. Despite my efforts to speed up, the log was very unstable in the water, and waves continuously crashed against my back, making it hard to focus on changing magazines. I had to keep steady to avoid being thrown off the log. 0

The Giant Log ahead had never been this unstable in the current; I didn't know why and had no time to look back. For now, I could only focus on the immediate danger. 0

The giant python did not submerge but moved along the pavement, and it was clearly approaching me faster than I could move. I was at the rear end of the log, right in front of a protruding branch. The log was unstable; I couldn't rely solely on my legs to keep myself steady and risked being thrown off at any moment. The current had also become violently turbulent, with waves crashing against me. I had no idea what lay ahead and couldn't afford to look back, but I could estimate that there might be a large whirlpool or extremely violent turbulence ahead. 0

My left hand gripped tightly onto the branch in front of me; even so, my body was being violently tossed by powerful waves. My right arm holding the gun could barely stabilize itself; aiming at the python's eyes was nearly impossible—just pointing the muzzle at it was a challenge. But suddenly, the python went berserk, raising its head about a meter above the pavement and charging toward me. 0

My left hand couldn't leave the branch for even a second; my body felt like a cowboy riding on a bucking bull, jolting violently. In this situation, my lower body inevitably collided with the log beneath me while my right arm struggled to adjust for shooting angles altered by my body's movements. The severe pain coursing through me combined with an impossible task pushed me to my breaking point; I knew there would be no luck this time. My eyes blazed with fury as I stared at the giant snake now within arm's reach—I unleashed all my anger onto this damned creature. 0

The ecosystem of this valley felt eerie; it seemed to have a strong aversion to foreign species, intent on driving them out or exterminating them entirely. It also appeared quite coordinated; I now suspected we had been driven here by Crimson Snakes under their relentless pursuit. Their apparent goal seemed to be to offer us as snacks for this giant python. If that was the case, then I'd satisfy them—and I planned to make it even more enjoyable for them. 0

This damned snake had one eye shot out and its insides should have been severely damaged, but it seemed that lesson wasn't enough for it. So I'd make sure it learned this lesson through suffering; I'd force it to understand with its life. Quickly formulating a plan, I decided to bait it into swallowing me whole. 0

I knew that doing so would greatly reduce my chances of survival, but I had no better ideas—there was nowhere left to run and no way to fight back against such an opponent; all that remained was this risky gamble. 0

I had a sharp knife at my waist meant for cutting ropes; its blade was keen and well-made. Whether it would serve its intended purpose would determine if I lived or died. My plan was to let it swallow me—more precisely, I intended to jump into its mouth. It lacked tearing teeth and could only swallow its prey whole; before entering its stomach, I should still be alive. On this log and in this situation, hitting its eye was impossible, and striking its scales would do little damage. If I jumped into its mouth instead, I could fire all fifteen rounds from my magazine into its body—if just one bullet hit a vital organ, it would surely kill it. Then I'd use my knife to cut open its belly and escape. 0

The plan sounded feasible, but in reality, it was a suicide mission. The first half of the plan was workable; I was confident I could take this giant snake down with me. However, the idea of using a dagger to cut open the python's belly was somewhat naive. Its esophagus could crush any of my longer bones, and before I could reach its stomach, if I managed to stay conscious long enough to fire all my bullets, that would be considered a victory. Opening its belly was merely a form of self-comfort. 0

Still, I intended to pull out the dagger at the last moment, just before jumping into the snake's mouth, as a way to leave myself some hope. 0

Here we go. The stench and heat from the python's gaping maw were already hitting my face. I roared as I released my left hand to reach for my waist, while my right hand trembled aimlessly with the gun. Fortunately, I had no intention of shooting at that moment; otherwise, even at such close range, the bullets would never hit the python. My left hand found the dagger sheath; all I needed to do was unclip it and the dagger would be in my grasp. Meanwhile, my legs were slightly bent, ready to leap forward at any moment. 0

Suddenly, a massive tremor erupted beneath me, as if an enormous force surged upward from below. The sensation of double egg-cracking made my legs instantly weak, and my hand that had reached for the dagger sheath involuntarily pressed against the wood below me in an attempt to alleviate the pain. However, my hand did not touch the wood; this sudden force lifted me into the air. 0

My throat still echoed with that hoarse sound because I was still biting down on the One-Eyed Beast. My voice was muted and heavy. As this strange sound continued, I soared higher and higher, instantly reversing perspectives with the python. 0

When the giant snake lunged at me with its mouth wide open, I couldn't see its eyes due to its height above me. My gun-wielding hand trembled like someone suffering from Parkinson's disease, completely erasing any thought of hitting its eyes. But now, in this moment, my body was stable in midair, and from this height, I could see the snake's eyes clearly. A golden opportunity. The hoarse sound morphed with my thoughts—perhaps out of excitement or tension—taking on a peculiar rhythm. 0

I seized the moment without hesitation; gripping the gun tightly, I pulled the trigger. 0
