I quickly swapped in a new magazine and aimed the muzzle at the left leg of the Humanoid Monster. Its left side was near the Underground River, and if I wanted to get in front of it, I would have to push it into the Underground River. Although this would extinguish the flames on its body, there was no other option; at least I couldn't think of a better plan for now. 0

Fatty was also in a dire situation, and I estimated he wouldn't be able to hold on much longer. Moreover, I saw no signs that Heimanluo would be burned to death by the fire; at least not before it took us down. 0

“Bang! Bang!” 0

All the bullets from the magazine struck the Humanoid Monster's left leg, specifically targeting its knee joint. 0

The massive, fiery body of the Humanoid Monster tilted to the left. While it didn't fall immediately, its steps faltered, and it unconsciously moved closer to the Underground River. At the same time, its speed drastically decreased, giving Fatty a moment to catch his breath. 0

Worried that Fatty might have other ideas that could ruin my plan, I shouted while reloading: “Don't stop! Keep running! I'm going to give it a hand grenade!” 0

Upon hearing this, Fatty indeed ran even harder, not forgetting to quip, “Aim well; don’t blow my ass off!” 0

I first removed the safety from the grenade and then aimed at the Humanoid Monster's left leg, firing another magazine of bullets. Just as the Humanoid Monster was about to lose its balance, I threw the melon-shaped grenade. 0

“Boom!” 0

With a tremendous explosion, three figures fell to the ground simultaneously. 0

To be precise, two people collapsed, while a massive Humanoid Monster tumbled into the Underground River. 0

A Grenade detonated beneath the left leg of the Humanoid Monster, completely obliterating it. Losing its balance, the Humanoid Monster spread its burning arms wide and plunged into the Underground River. 0

As its body lost stability, I felt as if its incomplete head turned slightly, its faceless visage facing me. It seemed to regret not having taken me out first. The mouth, burned into a black hole by flames, emitted a desperate sound. "Pain." 0

With that, the Humanoid Monster vanished beneath the surface of the Underground River. The Underground Cavern instantly returned to darkness. 0

" Fatty, if you're alive, say something!" I jumped up, switched on my Flashlight, and shouted. 0

The Grenade I threw wouldn’t harm myself, but Fatty was in a precarious situation. He was definitely within the lethal range of the Grenade's shrapnel; if he didn’t dodge in time, he could easily be hit. Of course, I was also within that range. 0

"I'm not dead, but close enough," a figure wobbled and stood up. "Damn it, I'm almost cooked medium rare. Can’t you give a heads-up before tossing grenades? Are you brainless?" 0

Hearing this made my heart drop and then rise again. Please tell me he wasn’t injured by the Grenade. From his tone, he sounded pretty angry—likely hit by shrapnel. 0

I rushed over in a panic and checked him thoroughly. Fortunately, I found no new wounds or missing parts, which eased my anxiety. 0

"What are you yelling about? I was just worried that thing would hear us. If everything's fine, let's hurry up and get out of here; once it comes back up, we won't be able to escape." 0

"Has it become sentient? Can it understand human speech?" 0

"Who can guarantee that? Didn't you hear it scream in pain just now? This creature is too sinister. It can't be killed. I hope this time we hurt it enough to make it cautious." 0

"What it just said was 'wait,' right?" 0

"Wait? What does that mean? Wait for it to come up and then hit it to death? Fine. Let's stop pondering this issue; who cares what it's shouting? I don't want to wait for it here." 0

With that, I took off running. 0

Fatty's flashlight was broken, and seeing me run, he hurriedly tried to keep up with me. Without any light, navigating the Underground Cavern felt like being blind. This was no joke. If you ran slowly, you could easily die from poor visibility or fall to your death. 0

However, Fatty had exhausted himself trying to keep up earlier, and before long, he fell behind by quite a distance. He was panicking and cursing, "Are you rushing to reincarnate or something? At least give me a torch; this is just unfair!" 0

"Damn." I had to slow down, and when I turned back, I realized his torch had long since disappeared—maybe he had thrown it away himself. Earlier, he had been chased by the Humanoid Torch, and the heat could have easily ignited the torch. 0

I was indeed anxious because we were now very close to the end of the Underground River, which meant we might actually escape alive and reach the entrance of the Eternal Gate. Only there could we possibly eliminate Heimanluo or even find another exit. Even if all of this turned out to be false, I would rather die at the Eternal Gate; after all, it had consumed too much of my energy, and my life had been changed by this secret. 0

"Just hold on a little longer. We're not far from the end of the Underground River. Jack just ran all the way to the entrance of the Eternal Gate. Once we reach the Eternal Gate, we blow it up, and we'll be free." 0

I knew Fatty was exhausted, so I had to encourage him like this. I couldn't give him a torch; it wasn't that I was stingy, but I worried that if he had light, he might give up even more easily. In fact, I still had a One-Eyed Beast Flashlight in my backpack, but he didn't know about it. If he did, he'd probably curse me out. 0

I had distanced myself from Fatty quite a bit; if he hadn't called out, I wouldn't have even noticed. I had no choice but to stop and shine the flashlight behind me onto the path in front of Fatty. His footsteps were heavy, and he had to go around obstacles that I thought he could just jump over. His face looked terrible; as he ran, he gritted his teeth, looking not just fatigued but in pain. 0

"What's wrong? You look awful," I shouted as Fatty got closer. 0

"Of course! If you were cooked to medium-rare like me, you'd look like this too. A little seasoning and it would be edible; how could I be okay?!" 0

"Is it really that serious? Don't keep me in suspense, man. I've eaten human flesh before." 0

I ran behind Fatty and lifted his shirt for a quick look. 0

"Damn." 0

I cursed under my breath and let his shirt fall back down. Although Fatty's back wasn't as bad as it could have been, it was still hard to look at. His back was completely red and swollen, with large blisters forming in many places; it looked disgusting, like leprosy. When I checked for shrapnel earlier, I hadn't lifted his shirt to see; if I had noticed this condition then, I doubt I would have run so fast. 0

"How about this, are you hungry?" Even in such a state, Fatty couldn't resist mocking me. 0

I pressed down the sourness rising in my stomach and feigned calmness. "I didn't bring any cumin, otherwise I could have tried some." 0

I thought Fatty mistook the sound of my stomach for me swallowing. 0

"Damn, you really have a heavy taste. After all these years sharing a bed with you, it's a miracle I'm still alive." 0

"Enough chatter, take this and run ahead." I handed him a One-Eyed Beast Flashlight. 0

"You are my Brother," Fatty said, believing I had given him the only source of light, tears streaming down his face as he accepted the Flashlight. 0
