"What are you doing? Do you want to kill yourself!" Fatty roared out of my hand Seize the incendiary bomb and throw it at Heimanluo. 'Boom' Heimanluo and a burning fire ignited under its feet. The heat wave and the blast from the incendiary bomb knocked me over onto the steps. "Have you seen its eyes?" I asked Fatty impatiently before I got up. "I don't have that leisure! Are you going to be friends with others? Your interest makes me sick!" Fatty roared and fired a magazine of bullets at Fire Sea. "Damn." The Ground fire spread quickly, White Phosphorus Incendiary Grenade exploded very scattered, White Phosphorus Residue did not splash on me and Fatty, but we were right next to the Fire Sea superior. The scorching fire gave me only a chance to utter an exclamation, and then drove me to a higher place. I left the hot area at the edge of Fire Sea in embarrassment. When I looked back, I saw Fatty still retreating unhurriedly. While retreating, I kept shooting into Fire Sea. When he retreated to me, I found that the skin on this guy's face was roasted and cracked. "Load me bullets, don't let it come out." Fatty yelled and threw a few Empty Magazine at me. Currently, bullets can cause certain damage to Heimanluo, so this scorching Fire Sea can definitely severely damage or even kill it, or at least repel it. I understand the intention of Fatty, but in front of me, there is a pair of anthropomorphic eyes. Those eyes not only conveyed a certain message, but also seemed to convey human emotions. Makes me wary of killing it.
Suddenly, a terrifying roar echoed from the Fire Sea, like a prehistoric beast awakening and unleashing its fury.
The sound jolted me back to reality. I wasn't in a position to worry about Heimanluo; my primary concern was the lives of my teammates. I wasn't a deity, and compassion wasn't my mission.
I quickly loaded bullets into Empty Magazine, but there was no way I could match Fatty's shooting speed. Soon, Fatty's firing came to a halt. Although Heimanluo was continuously battered, it simply wouldn't die.
During the pause in shooting, something emerged from within the Fire Sea, quickly appearing at its edge, seemingly ready to step out.
A gun without bullets was just a piece of scrap metal; Fatty tossed his weapon to me and drew out Hakka People's Straight Blade from behind him.
“Qiangzi, it’s damn time to move! Forget about that American Guy and hurry up. I don’t want to risk my life for him.”
I gritted my teeth; it was time to make a choice. Glancing back at Jack, I shouted, “Jack, where's the Hakka Girl you were supposed to watch?”
It had been quite a while. Jack hadn’t climbed very far. When I looked at him, he was still struggling upward on his hands and knees. But I didn’t see Tang Yumo anywhere.
Jack turned back; in the firelight, I saw sweat covering his face. I couldn't tell if he was exhausted or in pain from his injured leg. In his current state, it seemed unlikely he could make it to the top of the altar alone.
“You told me to take care of her! I thought it was too dangerous and let her go first.”
“Damn it! I told you to keep an eye on her! Instead, you let her escape. Are you stupid?”
Jack faced me with wide, dazed eyes, but he wasn’t looking at me; his gaze was fixed lower down in the Fire Sea. At that moment, Heimanluo had emerged from the Fire Sea. And without any doubt, it was ignited once again, transforming into a Humanoid Torch.
My optimism was somewhat blind; guns and fire could harm the weakened Heimanluo, but they were not enough to kill it, nor could they stop its advance.
Fatty and Humanoid Torch faced each other on the stairs. Fatty did not retreat or look back; he stood slightly askew on the steps, waiting for Humanoid Torch to approach him. I lay a short distance behind him on the stairs, with Jack positioned higher up.
My flashlight had gone out, even though I hadn’t thrown it away. Of course, I couldn’t get rid of it; I had it strapped to my waist, and even if it broke, it would still follow me. Jack’s glow stick was no longer in his hand; it must have been taken by Tang Yumo.
At that moment, our side was dark, while the Fire Sea and the Heimanluo that had emerged from it emitted a dazzling light. In the shadow cast by the flames, Fatty ’s bare-headed silhouette appeared remarkably imposing, even though he was below me and Jack.
I made a decision.
“ Fatty,” I called out.
“Still here wasting time! Are you waiting to die?” Fatty shouted hoarsely. “What’s going on?”
I answered him with action and the sounds of my actions.
“Click.” “Bang, bang, bang.”
I flicked off the safety of a grenade; the pin fell onto the stone steps. In such a quiet space, that sound rang out like a bell tolling—either melodious or jarring.
“Damn.”
The sound was undoubtedly jarring to Fatty. I had no doubt that a mercenary who survived in a war-torn environment could instantly distinguish between the sound of a grenade and that of a flare or smoke bomb.
After cursing, Fatty immediately turned and ran. In an instant, his imposing figure transformed into one that was desperately trying to escape.
I didn’t wait for Fatty to pass me. The moment he turned, I released the grenade from my hand. Like a peculiar instrument, the steel casing of the grenade bounced down the stairs, producing different sounds as it struck each step—both melodious and terrifying.
In just two steps, I leaped next to Jack and executed a shoulder throw, hoisting him onto my back before sprinting up the stairs with all my might.
At that moment, my explosive power was surprisingly good. If it weren’t for carrying Jack, Fatty wouldn’t have been able to catch up with me. Unfortunately, my burden slowed me down, and soon Fatty dashed past me.
However, as he passed, he cast an envious glance my way and said sincerely, “I wanted to carry American Guy too, but you beat me to it.”
Jack let out an irritated sound from my back. “Damn.” It seemed that this single word was all he could muster to express his feelings at that moment.
‘Boom!’
The damn grenade had too short a delay. We were on the stairs with nowhere to hide when the explosion's shockwave knocked us down. I felt as if my knees and chin had been shattered with pain.
But I was more concerned about the results of that grenade. Gritting my teeth against the severe pain, I turned my head to look down.
The effect was surprisingly good, completely exceeding my expectations. Heimanluo was blasted backward by the grenade, tumbling into the Fire Sea and rolling all the way down, eventually falling on the other side of the Fire Sea.
At least for now, we had shaken it off.
"Keep running up," I started to shout, but my words abruptly stopped.
I saw Fatty not far from me, kneeling on the steps with his butt sticking out, trembling uncontrollably, and to my shock, he had actually wet himself. I had never seen Fatty so cowardly before; it must have been something terrifying to make him lose control like that.
Although I couldn't see the danger around us, just witnessing Fatty's frightened state was enough to send chills down my spine. Instantly, my hair stood on end as I pulled out my handgun, which was loaded with half a magazine, and nervously shouted, "Who?"
