My mind was racing with countless Alpacas. You both taught the physics class, right?
The same viewpoint was expressed to me by Cao Mingzhe. He articulated it more broadly; in his view, modern Physics largely relies on guessing, or as he put it more elegantly, conjecture.
Seeing my astonished expression, Cao Mingzhe nodded. "Yes, it seems this is not just my perspective. Humanity's greatest wealth is imagination, without exception."
I couldn't help but furrow my brow, glancing towards the direction of the black hole. I turned to Jack and said, "If that is a Tesseract, then its mass..."
"Infinite!" Jack interjected. "The fragments of the fourth-dimensional space have a mass that is unimaginable in Three-Dimensional Space. There’s no need for assumptions or doubts; it's like your Flashlight— to any two-dimensional being, it appears infinite. If life and intelligence exist in Two-Dimensional Space, they cannot imagine or comprehend the three-dimensional realm. Just like you, they cannot see us; their two-dimensional eyes cannot perceive the three-dimensional."
My gaze remained fixed on the direction of the black hole. In truth, there was nothing visible in that direction. Glow Sticks were scattered around the black hole, but their light was too weak to outline its full form; all that lay ahead was darkness.
"Alright, I admit I cannot understand or accept the idea of a Tesseract. It's too difficult for me to accept," I said without turning my head, my eyes still on the darkness as I spoke to Jack. "Another possibility: a passage. Where does it lead?"
"This is my perspective. I've shared our speculations with you before; we suspect there’s a passage here connecting to another space. Currently, it seems more likely that this black hole serves as a passage to another dimension."
I pulled my gaze back from the darkness and directed it at Cao Mingzhe's face. "What about the Eternal Gate? What about the so-called Dequantize?"
Cao Mingzhe had gathered the Hakka People and A San; all the awakened individuals I knew were brought together by him. Their purpose here was Dequantize, and if this black hole is indeed a passage to an Alternate Dimension, then both the Hakka People and A San are deceived—this is a scheme concocted by Cao Mingzhe.
What I couldn't understand was what Cao Mingzhe intended to achieve by bringing in the Hakka People and A San? If he brought me in to open the Eternal Gate and used me as a key, then what purpose did bringing other awakened individuals serve?
I couldn't decipher Cao Mingzhe's intentions. But I didn't believe he would act aimlessly; it wasn't out of altruism either. Dequantize was a massive Pie and a trap!
Cao Mingzhe gestured towards the black hole with his chin. "That is the Eternal Gate. Entering will provide you with the answers you seek and Dequantize."
Suddenly, a voice sounded behind me. "What’s going on there?"
I turned around to see Jack pointing at the Glow Sticks surrounding the black hole.
I couldn't discern anything unusual about those Glow Sticks and looked at Jack in confusion.
"Before you woke up, we conducted an experiment by throwing Glow Sticks toward the black hole," Jack paused as if trying to pique my curiosity. "They didn’t enter the black hole nor did they touch anything; instead, they passed through it as if traversing two dimensions and landed on the other side of the black hole."
I thought for a moment before asking him, "You mean the Glow Sticks passed through this spherical black hole? But light didn’t pass through it; instead, solid objects could go through its interior?"
"We threw five Glow Sticks at it, all landing on the other side of the black hole. But from my perspective, I didn't see the Glow Sticks pass through the sphere. It was as if the space of the black hole was a gap in this space, or there was a missing piece of space over there. My feeling was that the Glow Sticks passed through a surface, without any sense of having crossed the five-meter diameter sphere in terms of vision or time. Of course, maybe it was just too dark here, and we couldn't see the details."
I thought carefully, my brow furrowing into a knot, but I couldn't picture what kind of scene this was. Throwing a Glow Stick isn't like firing a bullet; its flight path should be clear.
Even if this space was as dark as ink, the Glow Stick was glowing. Perhaps we couldn't see its flight path from the front, but we should have been able to see it clearly from the side. Jack seemed to imply that we couldn't see the Glow Stick's trajectory as it flew through the inside of the black hole.
I mimicked a throwing motion and asked Jack, "Can I understand it this way: light cannot pass through a black hole? Physical objects can, but we can't see their trajectories inside the black hole. In other words, objects entering or within a black hole are invisible."
"No," Jack replied firmly. "You should understand it like this: there's nothing there..."
My eyes lit up. "Is it a holographic image?"
Jack shook his head at that point. "That's not right either."
He gestured with his hands to form a large circle in front of him, then spread his arms wide as if embracing an enormous balloon representing an imaginary sphere.
"In our eyes, it exists. At least it presents itself as a black spherical shape. But..."
Suddenly, Jack pressed his arms together in front of him as if he were collapsing the imaginary sphere. "When an object passes through it, the sphere disappears; it becomes two-dimensional, with no thickness. The object passes through it as if crossing a two-dimensional plane with no thickness."
I immediately asked Jack, "Then what about its space? The sphere can disappear and turn into a two-dimensional plane, but what about the space it's in? An object flying through that space should still have flight time, even if we can't see its trajectory, right?"
Jack suddenly let his arms drop as if all his strength had been drained away; he couldn't even lift them anymore. His voice was weak. "The space... also disappears."
Jack gave a wry smile and asked me, "Do you understand?"
I shook my head. "Not really. Do you understand?"
Jack shook his head. "What I mean is, do you understand what I'm saying?"
I turned to A San. "A San, throw a Glow Stick."
A San grinned slightly. "Brother Qiang, it's pretty strange; do you really want to see?"
I took a deep breath, straightened my posture, and pointed towards A-Yong and Xiao Ting's direction. "Throw it from the side, don't use too much force. I want to see the whole process clearly."
A San didn't say anything further. He quickly ran over to Xiao Ting, picked up a Glow Stick from the ground, and with his arm pulled back, turned his face towards me.
I waved my hand and shouted, "Throw!"
As soon as I yelled, A San's movement resembled that of a javelin thrower. The Glow Stick flew straight out, not too fast but with a clear trajectory. I watched intently as the Glow Stick soared towards the black hole.
With Jack's earlier explanation in mind, I knew that there would be an anomaly the moment it entered the black hole. While my gaze was fixed on the Glow Stick, I also caught sight of the other side of the black hole's range, which was five meters in diameter.
Although the Glow Stick wasn't flying quickly, it reached one edge of the black hole in a very short time. At that moment, what Jack had described began to unfold.
I thought to myself, this is truly unbelievable! (To Be Continued.)
