Sofia's body remained slumped on the ground, fear crashing over her nerves like a tidal wave. Her throat tightened; she wanted to scream but could produce no sound, only rapid breaths echoed in the room. She couldn't comprehend what was happening before her— that strange, cold Wooden Mask, like a demon emerging from a nightmare, was tightly affixed to Ethan's face. 0

As she sat frozen in terror, the mask on Ethan's face suddenly changed. Its smile began to twist, and his eyes darkened as if engulfed in a wounded emotion. The wooden corners of the mouth drooped slightly, and the mask's expression shifted as if it were alive, as though it had been deeply hurt. 0

"You don't love me at all, do you?" The mask suddenly spoke, its voice laced with sadness and anger, accusing Sofia as if blaming her. "Just seeing this face makes you act like this..." The voice was deep, filled with a sense of psychological injury and grievance, its words wrapping around Sofia's heart like invisible shackles. 0

Sofia was stunned, feeling her heart plunge into chaos. This couldn't be; how could this be Ethan? She wanted to argue, to say she had always loved him, but everything now surpassed her understanding. The presence before her, filled with resentment and accusation, was no longer the man she once knew. This mask… should not possess such emotions. 0

"You see this face and treat me like this?" The mask continued its complaints, its tone growing more intense as if Sofia's reaction had completely enraged it. "Did you not promise to love me forever? Just because my face has changed, you act like this..." 0

Sofia's heartbeat quickened; she sensed the oppressive atmosphere shifting. The eerie smile twisted suddenly from sorrow to fury. The features of the mask became more grotesque; the smile faded away, replaced by an expression filled with anger and resentment. It seemed as if flames ignited within its hollow eye sockets—no longer mocking but roaring with rage. 0

"You… dare betray me!" The voice of the mask grew low and filled with fury, as if pushed to the brink of rage. "You treat me like this just because of this face? You have no idea what love is!" Its tone was filled with roaring resentment, as if this betrayal had crossed a line. 0

Sofia trembled uncontrollably; she felt that the Ethan before her was no longer the man she knew but a monster controlled by some terrifying force. The Wooden Mask grew increasingly horrifying, its features twisting further, the angry expression seeming ready to tear through its surface at any moment. 0

Crouched in the corner of the room, Sofia's fear completely overwhelmed her reason. Her body shook violently as her hands frantically searched the ground for anything she could use to defend herself. Her fingers brushed against a broken vase; without hesitation, she grabbed it and hurled it at the monster with all her might. 0

However, her movement could not match Ethan's speed. 0

In the instant Sofia swung the vase, Ethan had somehow moved right in front of her, close enough to suffocate her. That terrifying Wooden Mask loomed before her, its hollow eye sockets staring intently at her like prey from an abyss—lifeless yet filled with endless resentment. 0

"I am very disappointed..." Ethan's voice was low and cold; his tone held no trace of tenderness or apology anymore but rather a complete despair and fury. The mask's gruesome smile gradually faded away, replaced by a merciless chill. 0
Before Sofia had time to react, Wooden Mask's mouth suddenly opened and made a crisp "click" sound. The sound was like the operation of some kind of machinery, cold, crisp, without a trace of humanity, like the beginning of some kind of ritual. She didn't even have time to scream. The next second, Sofia's vision suddenly became blurry, everything in front of her seemed to have suddenly lost focus, and her body's perception quickly disappeared. Her head was instantly cut flat by the open mouth of Wooden Mask, and the entire head disappeared in an instant. The blood did not spray immediately, but a strange silence oozed out. Her body fell weakly, and crimson blood flowed from the opening on her head, quickly spreading into a dark red lake on the floor, blending with the surrounding shadows. The Wooden Mask still stayed on Ethan's face, as if he was satisfied with the massacre, staring at it all coldly, and the corners of his mouth rose slightly again, revealing that terrifying smile. Becky had just finished smoking a cigarette and calmed down her chaotic emotions a little. She knew that this visit was very important to Sofia, so she decided to go back to the ward and say goodbye to her. When she walked to the door of the ward, she suddenly heard a scream from inside. The sound pierced the silence of the hospital, like the last cry before death. Becky's heart tightened and she felt uneasy for a moment. She pushed open the door of the ward without hesitation. The door suddenly opened in her hand, and the sight in front of her made her heart feel as if it was being squeezed by an invisible hand. Sofia's body fell weakly to the ground, and bright red blood snaked on the floor, like a huge scarlet lake, gradually swallowing up the shadows of the room. What's even more creepy is that her head is missing. Becky's eyes were fixed on Sofia's body. The bloody neck wound was oddly smooth, as if it was cut open instantly by some precise tool. 0
