Chen Yan sat in his office, his expression dark. He never expected that Liu Yuan had given birth to a child. Moreover, this child was likely his own flesh and blood. The thought of it made it impossible for him to remain calm. Liu Yuan, how dare she... How could she have a child behind his back? She knew he didn't like children; she couldn't possibly be unaware of that. Yet, she still chose to have the child without telling him.
Chen Yan closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He couldn't accept this reality; he needed to ask Liu Yuan directly. He had to hear her explain it to him in her own words.
Opening his eyes, Chen Yan grabbed his car keys and stood up, heading out.
At home, Liu Yuan was playing with Beibei when she suddenly heard a knock at the door. She paused for a moment before walking over to open it. Standing outside was Chen Yan, looking at her coldly.
Seeing him, Liu Yuan narrowed her eyes slightly. "What do you want?"
Chen Yan stared at her and said in a low voice, "Did you have a child behind my back?"
Liu Yuan let out a cold laugh. "Whose child I have doesn't require your report."
Chen Yan frowned. "Of course it does."
Liu Yuan scoffed. "Why should it?"
Chen Yan replied coldly, "Because you are my wife."
Liu Yuan laughed at that. "When did I become your wife?"
Chen Yan fixed his gaze on her. "We haven't divorced yet."
Liu Yuan was taken aback for a moment before sneering, "What are you joking about? We divorced long ago."
Chen Yan's face remained serious. "No, I only signed an agreement; I never completed the divorce procedures."
Liu Yuan froze at his words, staring at Chen Yan in shock, unable to speak for a moment. She hadn't expected that he never went through with the divorce process. What did her persistence over the past three years mean now?
Looking at Chen Yan, Liu Yuan felt a mix of emotions swirling inside her.
Noticing her silence, Chen Yan said firmly, "Now, can I come in?"
Liu Yuan snapped back to reality, frowning as she asked, "What do you want?"
Chen Yan looked at her and replied, "I have some questions for you, but it's not convenient to talk here."
After a moment of hesitation, Liu Yuan stepped aside and said, "Come in."
Chen Yan nodded and walked inside. He glanced around the room but did not see Beibei.
Frowning, he asked, "Where is the child?"
Liu Yuan looked at him and replied, "What do you want with her?"
Chen Yan met her gaze. "I have some questions to ask her."
Liu Yuan scoffed at his words. "Are you out of your mind? She's just a child; what could you possibly ask her?"
Chen Yan's expression turned cold. "That's my business."
Liu Yuan frowned deeper. "Chen Yan, what exactly do you want?"
He looked at her intently. "I just want to understand what's going on with the child."
Liu Yuan's face darkened. "I told you, whose child I have is none of your concern."
Chen Yan's voice was icy as he said, "Just because you say it’s none of my concern doesn’t make it so. What if the child is mine?"
At his words, Liu Yuan's expression changed dramatically. "You..."
Chen Yan fixed his gaze on her. "If the child is mine, you can forget about ever seeing her again."
Liu Yuan's eyes widened in shock. "What do you mean?"
He replied firmly, "I'm taking the child with me."
Hearing this, Liu Yuan's face paled. "No way!"
Chen Yan's tone remained cold. "You have no right to stop me."
Liu Yuan glared at him. "Chen Yan, the child is mine; you can't take her!"
He responded calmly, "Whether the child is yours or not is not for you to decide."
Liu Yuan stared at him defiantly. "What do you plan to do?"
Chen Yan said coolly, "I'm taking the child with me; you can find another way to be compensated."
She laughed derisively at his suggestion. "Compensated? What could you possibly offer me?"
Looking directly at her, he stated, "Whatever you want, I can give it to you."
Liu Yuan sneered, "I want your life; will you give it to me?"
He met her gaze without flinching. "Do you hate me?"
Liu Yuan glared back at him. "Yes, I hate you; I will hate you for a lifetime!"
After a moment of silence, Chen Yan spoke softly, “If my life can ease your hatred, then take it.”
Liu Yuan was taken aback.
She looked at Chen Yan, whose expression was serious, not like he was joking.
She frowned, "Are you crazy?"
Chen Yan looked at her, "I'm not crazy."
Liu Yuan stared at him, "Then why are you doing this?"
Chen Yan said in a deep voice, "Because I want the child in your belly."
Liu Yuan's pupils constricted, "You..."
Chen Yan looked at her, "Give me the child, and you can ask for anything in return."
Liu Yuan stared at him for a long time before suddenly laughing, "Chen Yan, do you know? You really disgust me right now."
Chen Yan's expression changed.
Liu Yuan looked at him coldly, "Do you want to know why I hate you?"
Chen Yan looked at her and remained silent.
Liu Yuan fixed her gaze on him, "Because you've never respected me."
Chen Yan frowned, "Where have I disrespected you?"
Liu Yuan scoffed, "Where have you respected me?"
She looked at him, "What makes you think you can decide my life at will?"
Chen Yan looked at her, "Because I know better than you what is best."
Liu Yuan sneered, "Oh really? Then tell me, what is best?"
Chen Yan replied solemnly, "You don't understand it now; you'll understand later."
Liu Yuan looked at him and suddenly laughed, "I don't need to understand; I don't want to understand."
She gazed at him, "Chen Yan, just go. I don't want to see you again."
Chen Yan stared at her, "Where is the child?"
Liu Yuan met his gaze defiantly, "I told you, the child is mine and has nothing to do with you."
Chen Yan said coldly, "If the child is mine, I must take them away."
Liu Yuan's face darkened, "You wish!"
Chen Yan fixed his eyes on her, "Then don't blame me for being rude."
Liu Yuan glared at him, "What do you want to do?"
Chen Yan looked at her calmly, "You should know that taking the child from you would be easy."
Liu Yuan's pupils constricted again, "You..."
Chen Yan continued to look at her, "I'll give you three days to think about it. I'll come back in three days."
After saying that, he turned and walked out.
Liu Yuan watched his retreating figure with a pale face.
That evening, Liu Yuan sat on the couch, watching television, her mood restless. Li Li sat beside her, glancing over with concern. "What's going on? Why did Chen Yan suddenly come looking for you?"
Liu Yuan's face was grim. "Who knows what he's gone mad about."
Li Li studied her. "Does he know about the child?"
Liu Yuan nodded. "Yes."
Li Li frowned. "What did he say?"
Liu Yuan replied in a low voice, "He wants to take the child away."
Li Li's eyes widened in shock. "What? On what grounds?"
Liu Yuan looked at her. "He says the child is his."
Li Li was taken aback. "What?"
Liu Yuan continued, "He wants the child, and if I don't give him the child, he'll forcefully take them."
Li Li frowned again. "What are you going to do?"
Liu Yuan said firmly, "I won't let him take the child."
Li Li hesitated before asking, "But if he really tries to take the child, can you stop him?"
At that, Liu Yuan fell silent. Yes, if Chen Yan truly wanted to take the child, she wouldn't be able to stop him. Although she had some money, it was nowhere near what Chen Yan had. She could hide with the child, but in this vast world, it wouldn't be difficult for Chen Yan to find them.
Liu Yuan looked at Li Li and asked, "What should I do?"
Li Li thought for a moment and suggested, "Why not talk to him?"
Liu Yuan frowned. "Talk about what?"
Li Li replied, "Just tell him that the child is yours. If he wants the child, he should give you some money as compensation."
Liu Yuan stared at her. "Do you think that would work?"
Li Li nodded confidently. "It should work; he's wealthy enough not to be stingy with that."
After considering it for a moment, Liu Yuan said, "Alright, I'll give it a try."
The next day, Liu Yuan called Chen Yan to arrange a meeting. He quickly agreed, and they set a time and place before hanging up. Liu Yuan stared at her phone and took a deep breath.
In the afternoon, Liu Yuan arrived at the agreed café. After she settled in and waited for a while, Chen Yan finally showed up.
He was dressed in a black suit, his expression stern. He sat down across from Liu Yuan and looked at her. "Have you made up your mind?"
Liu Yuan met his gaze. "I want to make a deal with you."
Chen Yan raised an eyebrow. "What kind of deal?"
Liu Yuan looked him in the eye. "If you want a child, give me some money, and we'll be square."
Chen Yan narrowed his eyes. "How much do you want?"
Liu Yuan replied, "Five million."
Chen Yan studied her. "Are you sure?"
She nodded. "I'm sure."
Chen Yan fixed his gaze on her. "Liu Yuan, do you know what you're saying?"
Liu Yuan held his stare. "I know exactly what I'm saying."
Chen Yan's voice turned cold. "You want to buy out our relationship for five million?"
Liu Yuan responded firmly, "I just want to completely sever ties with you."
Chen Yan continued to stare at her. "What if I refuse?"
Liu Yuan's voice dropped. "Then I can only resort to a scorched earth policy."
Chen Yan squinted at her. "Are you threatening me?"
Liu Yuan replied, "I'm just trying to protect my child."
After a long silence, Chen Yan let out a cold laugh. "Fine, I agree to your terms."
Liu Yuan sighed in relief.
Chen Yan looked at her again. "Give me your bank account details, and I'll transfer the money to you tomorrow."
Liu Yuan nodded. "I hope you'll do it quickly."
Chen Yan's voice was icy. "Don't worry, I won't owe you a single cent."
Liu Yuan glanced at him before standing up and leaving.
