"Yuanyuan, Yuanyuan, don't be angry!" Feng Yunge called out from a distance, hurrying over with an anxious look in his eyes.
Ling Yuanyuan ignored him and turned to hide in the nearby bamboo forest. Just as she stepped into the grove, she suddenly remembered that this was the Five Elements Eight Trigrams Formation set up by her master. It was too late to turn back; the scenery around her had already changed.
Before her stood towering mountains, lush and embroidered like a tapestry. The sound of bubbling springs echoed through the valleys, and from various heights, the distant sound of waterfalls could be heard—a true paradise on earth.
However, Ling Yuanyuan dared not take another step forward. Beneath her feet lay the mechanism of the formation; if she left this place, she might never return. Her master's formation was intricate, and few could unravel its mysteries even among the most skilled practitioners, let alone her, a mere novice.
Ling Yuanyuan tried to step back a few paces to exit the mechanism when she suddenly heard an exclamation behind her.
"Ouch! You stepped on my foot."
Feng Yunge complained from behind her. "Hey, where is this place? It's so beautiful!"
He looked around with wide eyes, joy lighting up his face.
"What are you doing here?" Ling Yuanyuan exclaimed in surprise, her mouth slightly agape and her eyes filled with astonishment.
"I saw you run into the bamboo forest and thought you were playing hide-and-seek, so I came in to find you."
"Hide-and-seek?!"
Ling Yuanyuan explained the intricacies of the Five Elements Eight Trigrams Formation. After hearing her explanation, Feng Yunge was unexpectedly thrilled and jumped up excitedly. "What are you sitting around for? This place is so fun! Come on, let's go explore!" Saying this, he took her hand tightly and began to run deeper into the mountains with light footsteps.
Ling Yuanyuan felt an inexplicable lift in her spirits as he pulled her along, momentarily forgetting her earlier gloom. They began to frolic together, laughing and chatting as they climbed the mountain path, playfully picking branches and flowers along the way. A smile blossomed on Ling Yuanyuan's face, her laughter ringing clear.
"Do you think Master Ling will notice we snuck in here?" she asked.
"He won't. Master Ling will probably think you eloped with me and is throwing a feast at home to celebrate for three days!" he replied.
"You’re so annoying." Ling Yuanyuan chased after him, playfully hitting him. Soon, she was out of breath, bending over with her hands on her knees. The mountaintop was finally in sight, but she could hardly move anymore.
"Come on, I'll carry you up," Feng Yunge said, bending down and patting his back.
Ling Yuanyuan hesitated for a moment, biting her lip before jumping onto his back. The instant their bodies touched, they both shivered involuntarily, a tingling sensation racing from their spines to the back of their heads, then flooding their hearts.
Feng Yunge felt a surge of strength, as if his heartbeat could lift him into the clouds; his steps became more powerful.
Ling Yuanyuan felt the suppressed heat inside her burst forth, flushing her cheeks and warming her limbs. She felt a delightful warmth enveloping her entire body, leaving her both comfortable and speechless. Her face turned crimson, and a hint of shyness and confusion sparkled in her eyes.
The two lively individuals fell silent, continuing to climb step by step. Just as they reached the mountaintop, a dark rain cloud drifted overhead, followed by a torrential downpour.
"Is your master watering the bamboo?" Feng Yunge joked as he looked around. The mountaintop was flat and bare, offering no shelter. He quickly removed his long robe and draped it over Ling Yuanyuan's head.
"Come in too," Ling Yuanyuan tugged at his sleeve, her eyes filled with concern.
The two of them huddled under the long robe. At that moment, Ling Yuanyuan's clothes were nearly soaked through, her graceful curves accentuated. Raindrops clung to her long eyelashes, and her flushed cheeks resembled a blooming lotus emerging from the water.
Feng Yunge's heart raced, and he couldn't help but lean closer. Just as his lips were about to touch hers, Ling Yuanyuan shyly raised her hand and playfully swatted him away, her arm swinging quickly.
"You're annoying, what are you doing?" She stood up and ran backward, completely forgetting that behind her was a sheer cliff. Seeing her fall, Feng Yunge leaped forward without hesitation, his eyes filled with terror.
"Yuanyuan." Feng Yunge grasped her hand tightly, leaning forward and pulling with all his strength.
