The faint scent of incense filled the room. From the open window, one could see the green vines winding their way to the corner of the courtyard. A gentle breeze stirred, creating ripples of green that were both beautiful and intoxicating. 0

Lin Kedu stifled a yawn, squinting slightly as drowsiness washed over him. Suddenly realizing his predicament, he forced a look of grievance, his eyes reddening as if on the verge of tears. "Third Emperor, please spare me this time. I promise I won't dare again." 0

The Third Emperor, adorned in a purple robe and golden crown, sat high on a couch, his face obscured by a curtain made of South Sea Pearls. 0

He responded to Lin Kedu's obviously insincere plea with a question: "I’ve heard that Heavenly Slave Lin Kedu has been stealing from the immortals of the Upper Realm. Now you’ve set your sights on me? Should I commend your audacity?" 0

His voice was seven parts languid and three parts sharp, carrying an undeniable authority. 0

"I truly need the elixir in your possession, which is why I dared to be so bold," Lin Kedu replied. 0

He had intended to steal and make a quick escape, but little did he know that this Third Emperor, who should have been attending a banquet in Yaochi, had returned early and caught him red-handed. 0

Seeing that his pitiful act had no effect on the emperor, Lin Kedu gritted his teeth, straightened his chest, and raised his head. He spoke with righteous indignation, shedding the earlier look of helplessness. 0

"Should I then forgive you for your understandable actions?" 0

It was another question laced with half inquiry and half mockery. The son of the Heavenly Emperor certainly felt superior! Lin Kedu frowned in displeasure. "Third Emperor, whether you choose to forgive me is your own affair. I only care about whether you will grant me that elixir." 0

At that moment, the sound of a jade fan lightly tapping against a wooden chair came from behind the curtain. Then, the pearl curtain slowly parted in the middle, revealing the handsome figure of the Third Emperor. Bit by bit, from his elegantly long fingers gripping the fan to his sharply defined face, from his straight nose to his sword-like brows—Lin Kedu's fingertips trembled as his heart tightened and his breath quickened. 0

Lin Kedu's expression became dazed. The familiar features he had remembered for centuries now stood before him under the title of Heavenly Third Prince… so close yet so far away. 0

So close is the person, so distant are the memories. 0

"Why should I give you the elixir?" Lin Kedu said, lifting her chin with a fan in her hand. The Third Emperor was quite pleased with her reaction; which woman did not look infatuated when they saw him? Especially a mere slave girl. 0

"Smack—" The wide sleeves of her apricot-colored robe swept aside the folding fan as Lin Kedu glared at him, her water-red lips biting down until they turned white, her cheeks puffed up. "Third Emperor? Do you even know who I am?" 0

The sudden hostility left the usually charming Third Emperor momentarily stunned. He then teased, "Aren't you just the audacious Lin Kedu?" 0

Lin Kedu clenched and relaxed her fists repeatedly, knowing he had no reason to deceive her; perhaps it was just a case of mistaken identity. Feeling a wave of despair wash over her, she let her arms drop helplessly. 0

She shot him a cold glance before turning away amidst the astonished expressions of the other Heavenly Slaves. Her steps were slightly heavy, yet she maintained an air of nonchalance. 0

Bei Heng found it baffling but admired Lin Kedu's boldness. She was the first to confront the esteemed Third Emperor with such defiance, prompting him to chuckle and ask, "What’s this? You don’t want the elixir anymore?" 0

Lin Kedu seemed to just remember that matter and turned back around. Surrounded by the unique mist of the heavenly realm, which wrapped around her enchanting face with a hint of tenderness, she wore an expression of disdain. With hands on her hips, she spat out, "I don't want it!" 0

The Heavenly Slaves dared not even breathe at this point. Was Lin Kedu truly rejecting the chance for cultivation? 0

Some Heavenly Slaves cautiously glanced up; their master was not angry at all and wore a smile? They quickly lowered their heads again—how could that be? 0

In this heavenly realm, who didn’t know that the most formidable figure was the Third Emperor? 0

With his jade-green fan half concealing his face, the unapproachable Third Emperor smiled like a fox that had cultivated in the deep mountains: "Lin Kedu, I had intended to suggest a simple way for you to obtain the elixir. It seems you no longer desire it?" 0

"Who said that!" Lin Kedu shot another glare, her eyes filled with a hint of defiance. 0

Third Emperor chuckled lightly, thinking to himself how truly stubborn this girl was. 0
