The intense white light seemed capable of dispelling all darkness, piercing through every inch of shadow within the cave. A powerful heat rushed forward, as if it could consume everything around. This blinding radiance twisted Raymond's body as if it were being scorched by flames; his skin crackled with a burning sound, and the black tendrils writhed in agony, seemingly struggling against the light. 0

However, Raymond's anger and pain did not deter him. He let out a wild roar, his hoarse voice echoing in the cave: "You despicable bastard! Don't use such underhanded tricks!" His chest suddenly tore open, and countless thick black tendrils burst forth like snakes, emitting a nauseating stench as they aimed to attack Jonas. 0

Jonas's heart raced; the sight before him was horrifying. The tendrils were slick with mucus and twisted flesh, each one seemingly searching for a host to parasitize. Yet as the tendrils approached Blazing Light, these malevolent black creatures appeared to fear the energy produced by the light even more than Raymond himself. Whenever a tendril neared the incandescent glow, it would recoil as if burned, emitting an unbearable shriek. 0

"Stop it, Raymond!” Jonas shouted while backing away, trying to maintain distance. He could feel the threat emanating from the tendrils; black slime dripped onto the ground, quickly charring and melting under the light's illumination. But Raymond's madness could no longer be restrained by reason; his body continued to howl, countless tendrils writhing and struggling to tear apart the barrier of light and pierce through Jonas. 0

Sweat soaked Jonas's palms, but he knew he could not retreat. He couldn't allow Raymond to get any closer. Gripping the switch of Blazing Light, he aimed it at Raymond, the bright light blazing fiercely as if to incinerate this bizarre monster. The tendrils from Raymond's chest convulsed one last time, painfully contracting yet still defiantly thrashing about. 0

"Stop it now, Raymond! This isn't you!" Jonas yelled desperately, struggling to reach out to his once-brother. But all that remained in Raymond's eyes was rage and madness; all reason had long been consumed by darkness. 0

The tendrils began to wither and collapse under the light; Raymond's body seemed almost melted by this illumination, yet his roar remained ferociously undiminished as he continued to fight against this terrifying judgment of light. 0

Just as a glimmer of hope flickered before Jonas, he suddenly sensed something amiss—another tendril from Raymond had quietly stretched toward the nearby Portable Generator. Though nearly broken by the intense light, Raymond's frenzied will still drove him on. The weakened tendril slowly but decisively coiled around the power cord and yanked hard; the wire snapped instantly with a shower of sparks, and the Portable Generator emitted one final low groan before its scorching white light vanished completely. 0

"No!" Jonas gasped in terror as darkness returned in an instant. With the dimming of the lights, Raymond's twisted form gradually reemerged from the shadows. His tendrils began to rapidly regenerate; thick black liquid flowed over his flesh, new tissue sprouting as if the recent burning had merely been a fleeting torment. 0

With the searing white light abruptly extinguished, the cave plunged once more into utter darkness. The flicker of hope that had ignited in Jonas’s heart was instantly shattered. He watched helplessly as Raymond revived within the shadows, gritting his teeth to prevent himself from breaking down. The part of Raymond’s chest that had been scorched by white light was visibly healing at an alarming rate. Black viscous liquid flowed along his wounds, tissues writhing like liquid as they rapidly reformed into a new and even more grotesque shape. 0

"No!" Jonas nearly screamed in despair, knowing he had no time to consider retreating. He quickly raised his gun and aimed at Raymond’s still-recovering body; his hands trembled from intense anxiety and fear. The sound of continuous gunfire echoed through the cave as bullets flew swiftly through the darkness, striking Raymond. Black slime erupted from his wounds, staining the ground around him with dark fluid amidst shattered muscle and bone. 0

"Damn it!" Jonas panted heavily as he hurriedly retreated; he could feel his gun growing lighter with each shot fired. Yet Raymond’s twisted form pressed forward like an unyielding beast, still striving onward despite being ravaged by bullets. 0

"Do you think this can stop me, Jonas?" Raymond's laughter was low and maniacal, his deep voice filled with mockery and disdain. As Raymond's body twisted more frantically, his tendrils writhed in the air like venomous snakes, ready to strike at Jonas at any moment. 0

Gasping for breath, Jonas felt his despair deepen as the black liquid splattered around him. He knew this was no ordinary enemy; he was facing a former comrade who had once fought by his side but was now completely consumed by dark forces. The Raymond he once knew had become a walking disaster, dragging him deeper into madness with every passing second. 0

"Raymond! You're not beyond saving yet!" Jonas shouted, his voice hoarse with fear and desperation. With nowhere to retreat, he scanned his surroundings for any chance of escape. However, it was clear that the dark Raymond had no intention of giving him a moment's respite. With a swift motion, Raymond's tendrils struck like a viper, landing heavily on Jonas. Pain surged through his nerves like electricity as he stumbled backward, his weapon slipping from his grasp and clattering to the ground. 0

"Embrace the purification of the Black Rope Deity! This is your fate!" Raymond roared, his eyes glinting with madness as his tendrils lashed out again like wild beasts. 0

Jonas's consciousness blurred under the immense pain, and he nearly surrendered. Just as he felt cornered by Raymond, a flash of inspiration struck him. He suddenly remembered a crucial detail mentioned by the artificial intelligence—these Black Worms feared high temperatures! 0

But the problem was… where could he find heat exceeding 111 degrees in this moment, aside from the extinguished incandescent light? He thought frantically but had no time to reach a conclusion as Raymond's relentless attacks offered him no breathing room. The tendrils approached like countless dark whips, pinning him firmly against the wall, debris and dust swirling around Jonas. 0

Enduring the pain, Jonas rolled desperately to evade the assault. In that instant, his gaze fell upon the Portable Generator and the oversized incandescent light near a makeshift outpost. An idea sparked in his mind; he realized that the intense heat from the Blazing Light might be his only breakthrough! 0

"Damn it!" Jonas gritted his teeth; with bullets nearly exhausted, he could only rely on the last few rounds to buy himself some time. He fired at Raymond, aiming for his twisted tendrils and chest while moving toward the Portable Generator. Each step felt like walking on razor blades; Raymond's attacks were everywhere, his tendrils lunging at him like ferocious beasts, ready to tear him apart. 0

"Are you still struggling? It's all in vain!" Raymond bellowed as tendrils erupted from his chest, targeting Jonas directly. Jonas kept his eyes locked on Raymond, dodging attack after attack until he finally reached the Portable Generator. 0

But at that moment, another of Raymond's tendrils had silently snaked its way toward the Portable Generator without him noticing. With a screeching sound of metal scraping against metal, the tendril sliced through the wires; sparks flew from the generator before it emitted a despairing shutdown noise. 0

"No!!" Jonas gasped in horror, feeling as if he had plunged into an ice pit. The incandescent light dimmed instantly as Raymond's roaring figure re-emerged from the darkness. 0

Jonas raised his gun in a frenzy and fired repeatedly at Raymond, trying to inflict fatal damage before he fully recovered. However, with each pull of the trigger, the number of bullets dwindled further; in the darkness, Raymond had already regained more strength, and that twisted face filled with rage and mockery became increasingly clear. 0
