Liu Yuan was busy in the office. She stared at the design drawings, but soon her mind began to wander. Picking up her phone, she scrolled through her social media feed. There were many messages waiting for her attention. She read through them one by one, replying as she went.
After a while, she noticed Li Li's post showcasing her lunch. It was a bowl of Snail Noodle that looked quite spicy. Liu Yuan chuckled softly and said, "Poor thing." She quickly sent Li Li a message: "Come over tonight, I'll make you something delicious."
Li Li replied almost instantly: "Okay."
Liu Yuan smiled at her phone before putting it away. She gazed out at the scenery, squinting against the bright sunlight. The sun was blinding. Once again, her thoughts drifted.
Eventually, she snapped back to reality and looked at the design drawings on her desk. Sighing, she murmured, "Sigh, still no inspiration." She picked up her phone again and checked WeChat. There were numerous messages waiting for her there as well. She replied to each one in turn.
After a while, she checked Beibei's social media but found no updates from her. Her mind wandered once more. After some time, she decided to send Beibei a message: "Sweetheart, what do you want to eat tonight?"
Beibei responded right away: "I want Sweet and Sour Fish, Grilled Chicken Wings, and Garlic Sprouts with Meat."
Liu Yuan smiled at her phone again before putting it down. She looked out the window at the bright scenery once more, squinting against the glaring sunlight. Her thoughts drifted again.
After a while, she snapped back to reality and looked at the design sketches on the table.
Sighing, she said, "Sigh, still no inspiration."
She picked up her phone and checked WeChat. There were many messages waiting for her.
She read through the messages and replied one by one. After a moment, she noticed a message from Chen Yan and sent him a text:
"Can you buy Beibei a toy?"
Chen Yan replied immediately:
"Sure."
Liu Yuan smiled as she looked at her phone and then put it away. She gazed out the window at the scenery, the sunlight streaming in brightly.
The sunlight was blinding.
She drifted off again.
After a while, she returned her focus to the design sketches on the table. Sighing once more, she muttered, "Sigh, still no inspiration."
She picked up her phone again and checked WeChat. There were still many messages.
She went through them and replied one by one. After a moment, she saw a message from Beibei and sent her a text:
"Sweetheart, your dad said he would buy you a toy."
Beibei replied right away:
"Dad, I want to buy a toy."
Chen Yan quickly responded:
"Okay, what toy do you want?"
Beibei replied:
"I want a panda toy."
Chen Yan responded:
"Alright, I'll buy it for you now."
Beibei replied:
"Thanks, Dad Chen."
Chen Yan then initiated a video call with Beibei.
Beibei answered immediately.
Chen Yan looked at Beibei on the screen and smiled, saying, "Sweetheart, what are you doing?"
Beibei replied, "I'm drawing."
Chen Yan asked, "What are you drawing?"
Beibei answered, "I'm drawing a panda."
Chen Yan inquired, "Why are you drawing a panda?"
Beibei said, "Because pandas are cute."
Chen Yan asked, "Do you like pandas?"
Beibei replied, "I do."
Chen Yan said, "Then I'll buy you panda toys often from now on."
Beibei looked at him and asked, "Really?"
Chen Yan confirmed, "Really."
Beibei smiled and said, "Daddy, you're so nice."
Chen Yan responded, "If I'm not nice to you, who should I be nice to?"
Beibei declared, "Daddy, I love you."
Chen Yan replied, "I love you too."
They chatted for a long time.
Chen Yan looked at Beibei on the screen and said, "Sweetheart, I have to start working now."
Beibei asked, "When will you be back?"
Chen Yan replied, "I'll be back tomorrow."
Beibei reminded him, "Don't forget my panda toy."
Chen Yan assured her, "I won't forget."
Beibei insisted, "Then go buy it for me now."
Chen Yan agreed, "I'll go buy it for you now."
Beibei nodded.
They hung up the video call.
Liu Yuan's assistant Li Mengmeng entered and asked her, "Sister Liu, has Beibei's dad come yet?"
Liu Yuan replied, "Not yet."
Li Mengmeng said, "But she mentioned her dad is going to buy her a toy."
Liu Yuan clarified, "She means her biological dad."
Li Mengmeng looked puzzled and asked, "Isn't her biological dad you?"
Liu Yuan shook her head and said, "It's not me."
Li Mengmeng pressed further, "Then who is it?"
Liu Yuan looked at her and said, "You don't know him."
Li Mengmeng replied, "Then tell me about him."
Liu Yuan responded, "There's nothing much to say."
Li Mengmeng pressed on, "Then what's his name?"
Liu Yuan answered, "His name is Chen Yan."
Li Mengmeng asked, "What does he do?"
Liu Yuan replied, "He's very busy."
Li Mengmeng continued, "What do you think of him?"
Liu Yuan said, "Not much."
Li Mengmeng inquired, "Why not?"
Liu Yuan shrugged, "No reason."
Li Mengmeng then asked, "So why did you break up with him?"
Liu Yuan said, "I don't want to talk about it."
Li Mengmeng persisted, "When will you let him come over?"
Liu Yuan replied, "Tomorrow."
Li Mengmeng said, "Then I'm leaving."
Liu Yuan simply nodded.
Li Mengmeng turned and walked away. Liu Yuan watched her retreating figure and sighed, "Ah, what a hassle." She picked up her phone and checked WeChat. There were many messages waiting for her. She looked through them and replied one by one. After a while, she gazed out the window at the scenery and the bright sunlight. The sun was blinding. She drifted off again.

Liu Yuan smiled again as she looked at her phone before putting it down once more. She returned her gaze to the window, the sunlight still glaring. Once again, she drifted off into her thoughts.
Eventually, she refocused on the design sketches, letting out another sigh as she said, "Sigh, still no inspiration." She picked up her phone again to check WeChat, scrolling through the many messages that awaited her attention.
