I let out a sigh, "Well, I'm leaving now."
Xue Ming instinctively grabbed my arm, "Don't go."
I shook off his hand, "Don't touch me."
Lin Shuqin timidly tugged at Xue Ming's sleeve, "Amin, please don't blame Shanshan. It's my fault..."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes; the tea scent was almost wafting across the Pacific.
I stared at Lin Shuqin and said seriously, "Lin Shuqin, you should look again and see if there's any surveillance footage you might have overlooked."
Lin Shuqin's expression froze instantly.
I suddenly lost interest.
It seemed that Lin Shuqin hadn't been reborn after all. She didn't realize that the cameras in the teaching building across from us could capture this area. Only a reborn Lin Shuqin wouldn't think of that.
I couldn't be bothered to deal with her anymore and turned to leave.
Xue Ming wanted to follow me but was stopped by Lin Shuqin, "Amin, can you stay and keep me company..."
Xue Ming hesitated for a moment, lifting his foot as if to follow me.
I raised an eyebrow, "You should stay with her."
Xue Ming looked a bit anxious, "I'll go back with you."
I waved my hand dismissively, "No need."
With that, I left the hospital room.
After returning to school, Ma Yuan suddenly called out to me.
She ran up, breathless, " Shanshan, about being wronged by Lin Shuqin..."
She handed me a CD, "I heard about what happened from some classmates and went over to the teaching building to check around. Sure enough, there’s surveillance footage of you."
I took the CD in surprise, "You ran this fast just to give me this?"
Ma Yuan scratched his head a bit awkwardly. "I was afraid Lin Shuqin would find a chance to delete the surveillance footage, so I copied a copy for you."
A warm feeling surged in my heart as I smiled and patted Ma Yuan's head. "Thank you."
Ma Yuan blushed, feeling shy. "No need to thank me..."
That night, Lin Shuqin indeed sneaked back to school and slipped into the teaching building. Xue Ming and I waited for her at the classroom door.
When she saw Xue Ming and me, she clearly froze for a moment. "Amin... what are you doing here?"
Xue Ming frowned slightly. "Why are you back?"
Lin Shuqin stammered, unable to speak.
I couldn't help but interject, "You want to delete the surveillance footage, right?"
Lin Shuqin suddenly looked up, shocked as she stared at me.
I continued, "You deliberately fell down the stairs to frame me for pushing you, just to get Xue Ming's attention, didn't you?"
Lin Shuqin's face grew paler, her lips trembling as she struggled to find her voice.
I looked at her seriously and asked, "Lin Shuqin, you like Xue Ming so much that you're willing to hurt yourself. Does he love you?"
With red eyes, Lin Shuqin gazed at Xue Ming.
Xue Ming frowned and turned his gaze away.
Lin Shuqin lowered her head, tears falling onto the ground.
I chuckled softly. "He feels nothing for you but guilt; there is no love."
After a long silence, Lin Shuqin finally admitted, "I fell by myself..."
The next day, in front of the whole class, Lin Shuqin apologized to me.
Ma Yuan and I decided to stay at school. Ma Yuan's aunt was leaving town for work, and since Ma Yuan didn't want to live alone in the welfare home, she chose to stay at school too.
When Xue Ming heard that I was going to stay at school, he frowned slightly. "Staying at school?"
I nodded slightly. "Yeah. Living on campus is so convenient. After class, I can just go back to my dorm to rest and spend more time studying."
Xue Ming pressed his lips together. "Then why do you go home every day?"
I replied expressionlessly, "I like it. Is that a problem?"
Xue Ming looked at me deeply, hesitating to say something.
After I packed my things, Xue Ming suddenly called out to me, " Shanshan."
I turned to look at him. "What is it?"
Xue Ming's Adam's apple bobbed as he spoke in a slightly hoarse voice, "Do you... want to keep your distance from me?"
I blinked and said nothing.
