Wu Rong gazed deeply at Rao Jie, recalling the recent phone call and understanding why Long Yong had reached out. "Why do you keep calling him 'senior'?" Rao Jie asked.
Wu Rong replied coldly, "Know your enemy and yourself. Besides, he’s a rival, so it’s only natural to gather some intel. I want to see what makes him so appealing that you’re still hesitating and haven’t rejected him yet!"
Rao Jie was taken aback. Was it appropriate for her to be the subject of inquiry?
Wu Rong certainly thought it was appropriate—more than appropriate, in fact. The way others viewed Long Yong was entirely different from how Rao Jie saw him.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; what about Rao Jie’s perspective on Long Yong?
"What makes him so great? I don’t know much about him. Aside from being decent academically, what else is there that stands out?" Wu Rong asked with a serious expression.
Though a bit speechless, Rao Jie answered honestly, "He’s a really good person—thoughtful and warm-hearted, loyal and kind. He doesn’t put pressure on anyone, making it very comfortable to be around him. I believe anyone who spends time with him seriously wouldn’t dislike him. Plus, he’s handsome. While you might not think he’s particularly impressive in terms of ability, to us ordinary folks, he seems incredibly strong—almost someone to look up to. So..."
"That’s enough! If he’s that great, why aren’t you with him?" Wu Rong suddenly snapped, not expecting Rao Jie to speak so highly of Long Yong. Did she really see so many virtues in him? It was infuriating!
Rao Jie was taken aback by his question; it was something she wanted to ask herself as well. Why hadn’t she accepted Long Yong back then when he was so wonderful? Then Wu Rong entered the picture, complicating everything in her mind.
In truth, being with Long Yong felt genuinely comfortable; it just seemed like they would always remain in that pleasant space without progressing further. After parting ways, she didn’t look forward to seeing him again but knew that when they did meet, their time together would inevitably be enjoyable.
Rao Jie’s silence appeared as hesitation to Wu Rong, driving him mad. He stepped closer and pressed her, "What if today it were Long Yong asking you to soak in a hot spring alone with him? Would you agree?"
Rao Jie instinctively replied, "Senior wouldn’t make such a request."
Wu Rong took another step forward. "What if he did?"
Rao Jie hesitated; her mind reacted with disbelief—impossible! She would refuse...
It seemed unreasonable and even absurd for anyone but Wu Rong to propose such a thing.
Moreover, she could only tolerate Wu Rong's behavior toward her because her level of tolerance for him was different from anyone else.
Seeing her silent again drove Wu Rong closer still until they were nearly touching. Rao Jie finally noticed his proximity and intended to stop him.
Wu Rong then asked, "What if he kissed you like I did those other times?"
Rao Jie felt her face flush red.
"You gasp for breath from kisses like mine, the kind that makes you emit beautiful sounds. I pin you against the fridge, on the bed, in your dreams, kissing you wantonly. What if he did the same? How would you react?"
