At that moment, the Yan Ta District police station received a report from a man claiming that his wife, Wang, was missing.
After an investigation, the police discovered that a bank card belonging to Wang had been withdrawn six times in one day. They also found that Wang's phone was still in use.
By analyzing the bank's surveillance footage, they quickly identified a man named Hu Yuelong as a prime suspect.
Meanwhile, officers from the City Bureau, after several days of investigation, found a suspicious rental apartment.
Although the apartment appeared spotless, with walls and floors polished to a shine, it did not seem like the scene of an incident. However, Old Zhang confidently stated that if this were indeed the scene of a crime, no matter how skilled the perpetrator was, it would be impossible to leave no trace at all.
He then handed me an intriguing item—a substance called Luminol Reagent.
It was said that under this reagent, even if the murderer had cleaned away bloodstains to the naked eye, they would still become visible.

When the Criminal Investigation Team Leader led a group of officers to break down the door of Hu Yuelong's rented apartment, they were met with an extremely horrifying scene. A partially skinned female corpse was hanging from the wall, with some of the removed skin fashioned into cushions for a chair. After identification, it was confirmed that the body belonged to Wang, who had been missing for several days.
Under the intense psychological pressure from the police, Hu Yuelong confessed to his two accomplices, Yin Xiaomin and Cao Ying.
On March 11, 2005, the police apprehended both individuals.
It turned out that Hu Yuelong, Yin Xiaomin, and Cao Ying had opened a private detective agency in Yan Ta District, luring middle-aged women aged around 40 to 50 under the pretense of investigating extramarital affairs. They targeted these women for their kidnapping and murder plans.
They knew that these women were generally financially stable; otherwise, they wouldn't be hiring private detectives.
Once they lured these women to the apartment, they would immediately kidnap them and threaten them for their bank card passwords to withdraw money. After obtaining the cash, they would also rape the victims before ultimately killing them to eliminate any witnesses.
To avoid leaving traces, Yin Xiaomin would dismember the bodies each time and use sulfuric acid to dissolve the remains, flushing them down the drain.
According to his confession, he had sought quick money right after being released from prison in '93 by teaming up with his childhood friend Cao Ying to commit robbery and murder.
Initially, their targets were only Fallen Women, as their unique profession meant that their disappearances would not raise much concern.
Later, fellow inmate Hu Yuelong was released from prison and joined their gang.
From 1995 to 1996, the three cruelly deceived and murdered several Fallen Women in their rented apartment.
Yin Xiaomin became more skilled at dismembering bodies by purchasing anatomy books and studying diligently every day. He particularly enjoyed the thrill of dismemberment and would turn the victims' skin into Vest s, lanterns, cushions, and other crafts for his own enjoyment, his eyes reflecting madness and perversion.
When the human skin began to smell and could no longer be preserved, he would dispose of it in rivers or garbage heaps.
By the end of 1996, as the number of victims grew, the case caused a tremendous uproar. To evade police investigation, they had to go into hiding, only daring to resurface in 2005 to commit crimes again.
This time, they felt that the wealth on the Fallen Women was not substantial enough, so they turned their attention to middle-aged women investigating their husbands' infidelities.
Thus, the three partnered to open a private detective agency to scout for prey.
Unexpectedly, while killing one victim, body parts clogged the drain of their rented apartment.

On April 25, 2006, Hu Yuelong, Yin Xiaomin, and Cao Ying were sentenced to death and were soon executed by firing squad.
For forensic expert old Zhang, who was most familiar with this series of cases, it marked the conclusion of a twelve-year-long wish, bringing a smile of relief to his face.
