When I woke up, it was already evening.
Tang Mufeng remained in the same position, completely still.
Seeing that I was awake, he finally moved his arm. "Miss, you’re awake?"
"Yes." I stretched and sat up straight.
Tang Mufeng rubbed his sore arm and asked, "Miss, do you want to go back and rest?"
"No need." I shook my head. "I slept very well."
Tang Mufeng smiled. "That's good."
His smile was clean and pure, like a warm sun.
My heart skipped a beat.
I hurriedly lowered my gaze to hide my flustered feelings.
I couldn't let Tang Mufeng confuse me.
His kindness towards me was only because I was his master.
Once he met a girl he truly liked, he would leave me...
The thought of that possibility made my heart ache as if it had been pricked by a needle.
I took a deep breath to calm myself.
"Miss, what's wrong?" Tang Mufeng noticed my pale expression and quickly asked.
"Nothing." I shook my head. "Let's go back."
"Alright." Tang Mufeng helped me get off the bed.
As I walked out of the study, I looked up at the night sky.
The moonlight tonight was truly beautiful.
But why did I feel so uneasy inside?
I couldn't help but sigh.
"Miss." Tang Mufeng suddenly called out to me.
I lowered my head to look at him. "What's wrong?"
Tang Mufeng's lips moved as if he wanted to say something. But in the end, he simply said, "Would you like a late-night snack?"
"No, thank you." I shook my head. "I want to go back."
"Alright, I'll take you back," Tang Mufeng replied.
I nodded and fell silent. Tang Mufeng followed behind me, quietly escorting me back to the courtyard. When we reached the entrance, I finally couldn't help but stop.
"Tang Mufeng." I turned to look at him. "You don't have to be so nice to me from now on."
Tang Mufeng was taken aback. "Miss?"
"Your kindness is only because I'm your master," I said. "When you meet a girl you truly like, you'll leave me..."
"No!" Tang Mufeng interrupted me urgently.
He stared at me blankly, his eyes filled with confusion and disbelief. I knew he didn't understand what I meant. Taking a deep breath, I said, "Please don't be so nice to me in the future; I don't want..."
"Don't want what?" Tang Mufeng pressed.
I bit my lip and whispered, "I don't want... to be sad when we part ways later."
Tang Mufeng's pupils suddenly constricted. He remained silent for a long time before speaking up. "Why does the Miss want to send me away?"
"I'm not trying to send you away," I explained. "I just hope you can shift your feelings for me onto Wanyi."
Tang Mufeng's face instantly turned pale. "You want me to marry Wanyi?"
"Yes." I nodded. "You are going to marry her."
Tang Mufeng stared at me intently, saying nothing.
I felt uneasy under his gaze. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Do you want me to marry Wanyi?" Tang Mufeng confirmed once more.
"Yes," I nodded again.
Tang Mufeng fell silent again.
I had no idea what he was thinking. All I knew was that he must be feeling quite uncomfortable at that moment. But there was no other way; he had to marry Wanyi.
I waited for a long time but received no response from Tang Mufeng. With a sigh, I turned to leave.
Just as I took a couple of steps, my wrist was suddenly grabbed by Tang Mufeng.
I turned back to look at him. "Is there something else you need?"
