I pulled her outside and whispered, "You don't really want me to have something with him, do you?"
"Not that it's impossible," Murong Xue pouted. "Although Dongfang Yan is quite good-looking, just have some fun with him. Once we get out, I'll find you someone better."
"You misunderstood," I said, taking the small note she handed me and quickly tucking it into the hairpin on my head.
I turned and walked up to Dongfang Yan.
"Please pass this to the manager of Treasure Pavilion and have him fix it."
Dongfang Yan stood behind me, silently accepting the hairpin.
Murong Xue widened her eyes at me. "Do you trust him?"
I chuckled lightly. "What’s there not to trust?"
Murong Xue lowered her voice. "Don't forget, he’s a slave of Demon King's Hall."
I raised an eyebrow. "So what?"
Murong Xue was speechless. "You..."
I smiled faintly. "Just wait and see."
The next day, someone from South Sea Dragon King arrived at the entrance of Demon King's Hall with an imperial decree from the Heavenly Emperor.
His booming voice echoed at the door: "Heavenly Emperor commands Murong Xue to enter the palace and create the Robe of Immortality for the Empress."
The demon king's expression darkened, but due to the emperor's command being hard to defy, he had no choice but to hand over Murong Xue.
Murong Xue pointed at me and Dongfang Yan. "I want to bring them along."
The demon king, not wanting any trouble because of us, readily agreed.
He cast a deep glance at us, his gaze chilling.
Dongfang Yan stepped forward just in time to block his line of sight.
After gaining my freedom, I moved into a villa in the Dragon King's Hall with Dongfang Yan.
I dressed him in fine robes, and he looked like a young nobleman.
As I tied his belt, he looked down at me.
I asked him, "Do you know I'm using you?"
He nodded.
"Aren't you angry?"
He shook his head.
"Are you not unhappy that I took you away?"
He shook his head again.
"It was I who took you away."
...
Dongfang Yan and I began to live a carefree life together.
Dongfang Yan took care of the laundry and cooking, while I enjoyed a leisurely life where everything was handed to me.
Murong Xue would occasionally visit us; she had become an advisor to the South Sea Dragon King and had crafted many magical artifacts for him.
She said to me, "Actually, I'm not your sister. I crossed over into this world."
"I didn't intend to replace Murong Xue; it was just that her soul was incomplete, and my own soul happened to supplement hers."
"I was originally Empress Shang from the Demon Realm's Seventy-Two Caves. I was deceived by a scoundrel and poisoned by him with deadly wine before I found myself in your sister's body."
"I thought I would always be love-struck until I encountered that scoundrel again, which finally made me wake up."
"Don't worry, I will definitely avenge the the Murong Family. Once I have money in the future, I'll find you ten or eight men."
I quickly shook my head. "No need, having Brother Yan is enough for me."
I glanced at Dongfang Yan, who went from looking cold to suddenly shy.
...
In the past month, Murong Xue had been coming less frequently. She said that the Heavenly Emperor's health was deteriorating day by day, and unfortunately, he had no heirs.
The Demon King and the South Sea Dragon King were engaged in a fierce struggle, each undermining the other, and the court was filled with bloodshed and chaos.
I knew that one of them had to die to end this conflict.
Deep down, I still hoped that the South Sea Dragon King would win; that way, my great vengeance could be fulfilled.
However, Murong Xue's mood shifted from initial confidence to growing anxiety.
She said, "Sister, it seems the Dragon King is about to lose. I may not be able to provide you with wealth and glory."
She added, "Sister, if it comes to it, I won't be able to find you a man."
