I am an eighteen-year-old Senior High School Student attending an Ordinary Middle School.
Now that I've finally become an adult, there are quite a few things I want to do.
First, I want to watch Adult Films. Then I think about going to a bar to drink freely and also want to check out the "Drop Club." As for the government's constant promotion of "registering to vote once you turn eighteen," I've never really considered it.
What I look forward to the most is finding a girlfriend and experiencing the taste of love.
This school year has been quite enjoyable. Our senior class has taken all the top positions in every school club, and I myself have snagged a position as an officer in the Astronomy Club. The official reason for joining is my interest in astronomical phenomena, but the real reason is to meet girls.
In my imagination, I picture myself alone with the girl I like under a starry night sky. My hands would tremble slightly as I nervously yet eagerly peer through the telescope, counting the stars above.
When we spot Altair and Vega together, sharing our dreams in that tranquil and romantic setting, I would slowly lean closer to her, my heart racing, and then we would share our first kiss… What a beautiful scene that would be!
But reality is far from this. Three months have passed in the blink of an eye, and I haven't even made eye contact with a girl, let alone develop anything further.
The Galileo brand monocular telescope that I bought with my life savings has proven completely useless. I had thought it would be the ideal "tool" for meeting girls.
Life goes on as usual. That night, I sat alone on my bed, staring blankly out the window.
Outside were tall buildings, neon signs filling my view, and windows lit up with warm lights. What sights lay within those windows?
Suddenly, an idea struck me—I felt a surge of curiosity to peek into their lives.
My cheeks gradually burned with heat, and my hands trembled slightly as I slowly opened the hard-shell case, carefully taking out the telescope to set it up.
I positioned the telescope in front of the window, aiming the lens outside, then stood up to lock the door and turn off the lights.
As my hand touched the cold exterior of the telescope, a wave of unease washed over me. I hesitated, standing still with my brows furrowed, my mind engaged in a fierce struggle...
For some reason, looking through the narrow circular viewfinder made me particularly focused. The street scenes that usually seemed mundane suddenly became interesting. I could clearly see the expression of a man leaning against a streetlight; he appeared quite relaxed.
There was a bar downstairs, and a middle-aged man, thoroughly drunk, staggered across the road, nearly colliding with the man by the lamp post. He stumbled into the building right across from me.
I gently adjusted the angle of the telescope and carefully calibrated the focus, bringing everything into sharp clarity within the circular view.
The window was dark; only the windowsill was illuminated, revealing nothing of what lay inside.
I adjusted the angle to nearly horizontal and finally caught sight of what was happening inside. A family gathered around a round table for dinner—nothing particularly interesting. I couldn't help but wonder: had they ever thought about someone watching them eat?
Feeling a bit bored, I shifted the telescope to another window. Although it was lit, it was empty. Just as I was about to move on, a young woman in pajamas walked in through another door, causing my blood to rush to my head once more.
The woman before me wore a soft, thin nightgown that clung to her delicate figure under the light. I unconsciously swallowed hard, feeling a thrill of excitement.
She appeared to be in her twenties; while not conventionally beautiful, her features exuded a unique charm—a mature femininity unlike anything I had seen at school!
For several days afterward, as soon as I finished eating, I would promptly hide behind the telescope, eagerly stealing glances at every move she made. I found myself increasingly captivated by her beauty.
"Have I developed feelings for her?"
I asked myself, "Should I take further action? Should I make an effort to get to know her?" I truly had that intention.
"Shh! What's going on? Why is there a guy over there?"
Suddenly, a man appeared in front of the camera, looking this way. It felt as if our gazes met.
Did he notice me? A jolt of panic surged through me, and my body instinctively shrank back.
