Beibei is very happy today. "Children, do you know what day it is today?" the teacher asked. "Yes, today is the Mid-Autumn Festival!" the children answered in unison. "Yes, today is the Mid-Autumn Festival." The teacher smiled and said, "Do you know what interesting things will happen during the Mid-Autumn Festival?" "I know, we can eat moon cakes!" Lu Yuze raised his hand first. "Well, Lu Yuze said it very well." The teacher praised. "I also know that we can see Chang'e!" Beibei raised his hand and said. "Hahahaha..." The children all laughed. "What's wrong?" Beibei looked at everyone in confusion. "There is no Chang'e." Lu Yuze said, "There is only sand on the moon." "Ah?" Beibei was stunned: "No Chang'e?" "No." Lu Yuze nodded vigorously. "Then why did the TV say there was Chang'e?" Beibei asked. "That's a lie." Lu Yuze said. "But..." Beibei still didn't want to believe it: "I still want to see what Chang'e looks like." "Chang'e was imagined by the ancients. There is no Chang'e on the moon." Liu Yuan said. "Ah?" Beibei was stunned: "There is no Chang'e?" "Yes." Liu Yuan nodded vigorously: "There is nothing on the moon except sand." "Then why is there a story about Chang'e flying to the moon?" Beibei asked puzzled. "That was imagined by the ancients." Liu Yuan explained: "The ancients believed that there was a beautiful Chang'e on the moon, so there was this story." "So that's how it is." Beibei nodded as if he understood. "However, although there is no Chang'e on the moon, we can imagine the existence of Chang'e." Liu Yuan said. "Yes." Beibei nodded vigorously: "I can also imagine what Chang'e looks like." "Yes." Liu Yuan smiled. After returning home, Beibei went to paint. Liu Yuan sat on the sofa, looking out the window, his thoughts drifting away.
Uncertain of how much time had passed, Beibei called out to her, "Mom, Dad's here."
Liu Yuan snapped back to reality and looked up to see Chen Yan walking in. He was carrying a box of mooncakes and some fruit.
"What are you doing here?" Liu Yuan frowned.
"Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival," Chen Yan replied.
"Why would you come here instead of going home for the Mid-Autumn Festival?" Liu Yuan said, displeased.
"Didn't we agree on this already?" Chen Yan asked.
"I..." Liu Yuan was at a loss for words. She had agreed, but she hadn't really intended to have him stay.
"Mom, just let Dad stay," Beibei said, tugging at Liu Yuan's arm and acting cute.
Liu Yuan looked at Beibei and ultimately relented. "Fine."
"You're the best, Mom!" Beibei exclaimed happily, planting a kiss on Liu Yuan's cheek.
Liu Yuan patted Beibei's head and then turned to Chen Yan. "You can stay, but you can't just eat and sleep here for free."
"Huh?" Chen Yan raised an eyebrow.
"You have to cook," Liu Yuan stated.
"Okay," Chen Yan nodded.
"And..." Liu Yuan thought for a moment, "You need to be responsible for cleaning up."
"Sure," Chen Yan nodded again.
"And..." Liu Yuan considered again, "You can't take Beibei to play with dangerous things."
"Got it," Chen Yan continued to nod.
"Mom, what about me?" Beibei interjected when she realized Liu Yuan had forgotten her.
"You...," Liu Yuan glanced at Beibei, "You can't play on your phone for too long."
"Alright," Beibei sulked a bit.
"Alright, you two have fun; I'm going to make dinner," Chen Yan said.
"Okay," Liu Yuan nodded.
Chen Yan walked into the kitchen and began to busy himself with preparations.
Beibei sat on the living room carpet, continuing to draw. Liu Yuan returned to her room, planning to apply a face mask. Just after washing her face, she heard Aunt Zhao's voice from outside. "Mr. Chen, why are you in the kitchen?"
"Mm," Chen Yan replied lightly.
"You should come out; it's smoky in here," Aunt Zhao said.
"I'm cooking," Chen Yan stated succinctly.
"What are you making? I can do it," Aunt Zhao offered.
"I don't want her to tire herself out," Chen Yan replied.
"You... You're such a good husband," Aunt Zhao said, touched.
"Thank you," Chen Yan accepted the compliment without hesitation.
Liu Yuan thought to herself, "This man has some nerve!"
"Um, Mr. Chen, do you need any ingredients?" Aunt Zhao asked.
"No need," Chen Yan shook his head.
"Then I..." Aunt Zhao hesitated. "I'll head back then."
"Mm," Chen Yan nodded.
After Aunt Zhao left, Liu Yuan walked out of her room. She leaned against the doorframe, watching Chen Yan busy in the kitchen.
"How can you cook?" Liu Yuan asked, puzzled.
"Is that strange?" Chen Yan countered.
"A young master like you cooking? How is that possible?" Liu Yuan was even more confused.
"Who says a young master can't cook?" Chen Yan shot back.
"But..." Liu Yuan still found it hard to believe.
"I just don't want to cook; it's not that I can't," Chen Yan explained.
"Oh," Liu Yuan pouted slightly.
"You go play with Beibei; I'll handle things here," Chen Yan said.
"Mm." Liu Yuan nodded and turned to leave.
Before long, Beibei ran in with Chen Yan's phone. "Mom, Dad's phone is ringing."
"Who is it?" Liu Yuan asked.
"It's Grandma," Beibei replied.
"Grandma?" Liu Yuan paused for a moment, then took the phone and handed it to Chen Yan. "Your grandma is calling."
"Okay." Chen Yan nodded, took the phone, and pressed the answer button. "Hello?"
"Xiaoyan, where are you?" Chen Yan's mother, Wang Min, asked.
"I'm at Liu Yuan's," Chen Yan answered.
"What are you doing there?" Wang Min asked, displeased.
"Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival," Chen Yan replied.
"You..." Wang Min was taken aback. "You better come back right now!"
"Why should I go back?" Chen Yan retorted.
"You..." Wang Min was at a loss for words.
"I promised Beibei that I would stay and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with her," Chen Yan said.
"You..." Wang Min was speechless again.
"If there's nothing else, I'm hanging up," Chen Yan said.
"You..." Wang Min was so angry that she hung up the phone abruptly.
Chen Yan set the phone down and continued cooking.
Liu Yuan watched Chen Yan, somewhat surprised. He actually stood up to his mother for Beibei. It seemed he truly loved her.
Beibei looked at Chen Yan with bright eyes. "Dad, does Grandma not want you to come home for dinner?"
"Mm." Chen Yan nodded.
"Then aren't you going back?" Beibei asked again.
"No, I'm not going back," Chen Yan replied.
"Will Grandma be angry?" Beibei asked with concern.
"Doesn't matter," Chen Yan replied lightly.
"Dad, that's not right," Beibei said.
"Hmm?" Chen Yan raised an eyebrow.
"Grandma is getting older; we should respect her," Beibei insisted.
"Alright, I’ll listen to you," Chen Yan nodded.
"Then let's call Grandma now," Beibei proposed.
"Okay." Chen Yan nodded, picked up his phone, and dialed Wang Min's number.
The call connected quickly. "Hello?"
"Mom, my attitude was poor earlier, and I apologize," Chen Yan said.
"Hmph!" Wang Min huffed.
"Mom, please don't be angry," Chen Yan urged.
"If you want to stay, then stay," Wang Min replied.
"Thank you, Mom," Chen Yan said gratefully.
"It was Beibei who told me to forgive you," Wang Min added.
"Huh?" Chen Yan was taken aback.
"It was Beibei who said you should respect me," Wang Min explained.
"Okay." Chen Yan nodded. "I understand."
"Alright, I'm hanging up now," Wang Min said.
"Goodbye." Chen Yan nodded and ended the call.
"Dad, how did it go?" Beibei asked eagerly.
"Grandma forgave me," Chen Yan replied.
"That's great!" Beibei nodded in relief.
