"There really is nothing between him and me, so don't overthink it."
I looked up at her, my smile still in place, but my tone had turned cold. "Lin Jinhe, you could easily arrange for someone to take him to a hotel or give him some money to send him on his way. But instead, you chose to bring him back to your private residence, let him use your bathroom, wear your clothes, and even show off in front of me."
"Considering our years of friendship, I won't pursue this matter this time," I continued. "I hope you can keep your boundaries in mind moving forward."
Just as I finished speaking, Zhao Shusen emerged from the bedroom. He paused for a moment at the sight of our tense standoff before a casual smile crept onto his lips. However, he quickly masked his expression and approached with lowered eyes, saying softly, "Xie Ge, I'm all set. Shall we go?"
I turned to grab my car keys and was about to head out when I suddenly remembered something. Turning back to Lin Jinhe, I said, "By the way, I won't be coming here again. You know I have a cleanliness obsession, so please throw away everything I've left behind."
After settling Zhao Shusen, I immediately flew to Milan. One of my other artists had an important runway show there that required my personal oversight.
A week later, after wrapping up my business and returning home, Lin Jinhe picked me up from the airport.
Once back in the country, I finally took off my strong facade. As I rubbed my temples, Lin Jinhe glanced at me and asked, "Was everything smooth?"
I snorted lightly and raised an eyebrow at her. "Have you ever seen me fail?"
Her lips curled slightly as she turned the steering wheel. "True enough; you're always so capable."
After a pause, she casually added, "By the way, you mentioned last time that you didn't want that apartment anymore, so I've moved to a new community in Jing'an District. I've replaced your things just as they were."
I acknowledged her with a hum while she spoke in a subdued tone. "Xie Xingyun, I'm really sorry."
I glanced at her coldly and smiled faintly. "It's fine; I'll let it go this time. But remember, my patience is limited."
She nodded earnestly. "There won't be another time; I understand how precious the opportunity you've given me is."
I didn't respond further. Both Lin Jinhe and I were sharp individuals.
I have always been carefree, dismissing the idea of restricting my girlfriend's interactions with others. To me, self-awareness is something that doesn't require much explanation. Such matters only need to be touched upon briefly. But I only give one chance.
Since her debut, Lin Jinhe has received numerous secret advances from collaborators and male celebrities, all of which she has handled appropriately. In adult relationships, it's all about fate. If her heart is with you, there's no need for excessive worry; if it isn't, then what good does it do to keep a close watch?
So I have always gone with the flow. Later, Lin Jinhe briefly explained her entanglement with Zhao Shusen, and I considered the matter settled. That was until Lin Jinhe and Zhao Shusen's trending topic shot to the top of the charts.
During that time, I had arranged for Lin Jinhe to take on a historical drama. After she joined the cast, I was busy with other matters. Perhaps due to the relentless work, my body finally protested. The flu hit me hard, and I pushed through to finish my tasks before barely making it home to rest.
I was indeed exhausted. I turned off my phone, drew the curtains, and slept for an entire day in darkness. When I woke up, it was already past eight in the evening. I turned off airplane mode on my phone and immediately sensed something was wrong—there were numerous missed calls.
Opening my messages, the latest one was from the company's public relations: "Boss, urgent situation! Please check the trending topics immediately."
