Fierce Eagle let the Stalker go just like that! In a daze, the Stalker had already scooped up the Quantum String Engine Locator and jumped into the Time Portal. The Time Portal quickly sealed shut, returning to its original state.
“No!” Blue Face Hero threw his Laser Long Curved Blade, but it was too late to catch the closing Time Portal. He watched helplessly as the Stalker escaped, the Laser Curved Blade falling into the water with a metallic scrape.
“What are you doing, Captain?!” Blue Face Hero swam quickly to Fierce Eagle, visibly frustrated. His anger was completely understandable. There were only three Quantum String Engine Locators on Earth; he didn’t know how the other two teams were faring, but Fierce Eagle’s hesitation had already doomed their mission. As long as the Quantum String Engine Locator remained, the internal Humans' starships could still teleport to Earth.
“I... I couldn’t bring myself to do it,” Fierce Eagle said apologetically.
Seeing their leader Stalker slip away, the morale of the internal Humans collapsed like a dam bursting, scattering in all directions. But where could they go on Earth with their hideout destroyed? The Task Force pursued them in the water, a dense stream of bullets making their actions look like shooting fish trying to escape. The faster internal Humans dragged their injured bodies up along the corridor and disappeared, while those who swam a bit slower were either indiscriminately shot by the Task Force or raised their hands in surrender.
At this point, the seawater had completely submerged the entire bunker; they could only swim in the water wherever they went. Fierce Eagle lowered his head, unsure how to explain his hesitation to Nars, while Blue Face Hero activated his Thruster and swam toward the surviving soldiers of the Task Force. The human Task Force pointed guns at a group of surrendering internal Humans, pushing them toward Blue Face Hero.
Liu Xuan went offline, and Nars began to take control of his body, his eyes turning moonlight color. Upon seeing Nars, the internal Humans instinctively wanted to retreat but found themselves pressed against human gun barrels behind them. They could only grit their teeth and meet Nars's gaze one by one. However, the conflict between internal Humans and Inner Beings was deeply rooted; seeing an enemy made them particularly hostile. They respected Nars because he was a royal prince of Inner Beings but did not genuinely fear him.
“How long has this bunker existed underwater?” Nars asked through his voice modulator.
“Longer than your history on Earth,” replied an internal Human with one eye blinded; his left eye had been shot through by a Task Force gun, leaving behind a bloody hole.
Nars swam closer and noticed Spell Arts symbols on his arm. Those who practiced Spell Arts held a relatively high status among Moon People. His willingness to respond to Nars indicated not only that he was prepared for death but also that he was likely a disciple of Stalker.
“Name?”
“Baike.”
“The battle is over; you’ve seen the outcome.” Nars locked eyes with him. “Stalker abandoned you like this; do you think such a leader can lead you to victory?”
“This is our rightful sacrifice,” Baike replied coldly with a sneer. “We follow the will of the Emperor and will never change.”
“Stubborn!” Nars shouted angrily. “You have harmed our shared planet and committed atrocities in Vamulel; your crimes are unforgivable!”
“Conquest—that is our mission,” Baike said defiantly. “How can you Inner Beings, who only know how to farm and live in so-called peace, understand our ambition? Nars, don’t think that just because you’re a prince you can lecture us; in my eyes, you are nothing.”
Baike's aggressive stance ignited Nars's fury instantly. He punched him and then seized his neck tightly, twisting his chin as he said, “Then let your Ban Sa try! I will prove to the entire universe that Inner Beings never concede!”
“You cannot win.” Even with his neck in a chokehold, Baike laughed arrogantly, sounding more like he was sobbing. “You cannot handle the Quantum String Engine Locator issue; what is meant to come will eventually come—hahaha—”
Nars could no longer contain his anger; Stalker's escape with the Quantum String Engine Locator had already left him frustrated. He summoned a hand cannon from the Time Portal and aimed it at Baike's head while ordering the Task Force: “Kill them all without mercy!”
In an instant, flames erupted in the seawater, flickering lights reflecting off both surface and walls. In this silent deep sea battle, it felt more like children fighting—seemingly insignificant yet carrying an unerasable rage within Inner Beings' prince Nars's heart. He would always remember history and hold onto every crime committed against them by internal Humans.
Looking at these fallen internal Humans, Nars still could not find relief from his hatred. An Xiaotian approached him; they exchanged no words as they watched Task Force members fire additional shots into the corpses.
"I'm sorry," An Xiaotian said quietly.
Nars, after a long silence, finally admitted, "Actually, we don't have to kill these internal Humans. You and I just want the stalker dead and to destroy the Quantum String Engine Locator to prevent war. But I understand you; Liu Xuan standing in front of the Quantum String Engine Locator would definitely hesitate to pull the trigger. It's like fate; we will eventually have to fight them."
Five days later, the three squads of The Celestial Warriors returned to their base in City M at the Song Family Villa District after completing their missions. One team returned through the Time Portal opened by Aibo, while Aibo left The Celestial Warriors alone to continue living in the wilderness with the Spirit Corps Legion led by Miao Chengmin—he had long since grown accustomed to such a life. Miao Chengmin stayed behind for a few days to spend time with Ming Juan before returning to where the Spirit Corps Legion was stationed.
Due to Jiao An being struck in the shoulder blade by Tuna's flying knife, the Second Team spent two days recuperating in Mauritius before taking a private jet back home. Upon meeting with Team One, their first question was, "How did it go?"
"Of course, we completed our mission successfully," Lu Sha yawned and stretched, saying, "Ah, I've been so busy these past few days; I want to rest well at the villa."
It was noon when the two teams met. They sat in an air-conditioned room, waiting for the waiter to bring them food. "I wonder how An Xiaotian and the others are doing," Xu Yicheng said, swirling his wine glass.
"They're the strongest duo in the alliance. With the support of the U.S. Navy, they can accomplish any task that we can," Qin Weishan replied. "An Xiaotian is someone I brought along, heh."
Everyone smiled but remained silent until Jiao An suddenly remembered something: "By the way, Weishan, I asked you to deliver the Quantum String Engine Locator to the Embassy. Where is it now?"
"It arrived at Song Family Courtyard before us. Don't worry; it should be in the Antimatter energy storage room now. Xiao Zhongda will be responsible for disassembling and studying it," Qin Weishan answered.
"They're back!" Lu Sha suddenly shouted, pointing out the window. Everyone turned to look; An Xiaotian and Liu Xuan had changed into casual clothes and appeared at the gate of The Song Family. The Fierce Eagle Armor behind An Xiaotian activated its automatic docking mode and flew up into the air, preparing to enter its storage.
"Go greet them!" Jiao An signaled Lu Sha. Excited at the prospect of getting close to their captain, Lu Sha rushed downstairs to meet them. After exchanging pleasantries about their safety, Lu Sha eagerly asked, "So how was it, Captain? Were those internal Humans as weak as we encountered? Haha, they were really pathetic..."
"Our mission was not completed."
"...Huh?"
"I said our mission was not completed; the Quantum String Engine Locator was taken by a stalker."
Lu Sha felt a wave of shock wash over him as if he had fallen from a great height. He turned back to look at his confused teammates. They had all come down from upstairs and could see An Xiaotian and Liu Xuan's serious and silent expressions; everyone had already guessed what had happened.
"How is that possible? Nars and Liu Xuan are our alliance's strongest fighters! Captain, you're formidable too; how could..." Lu Sha still found it hard to believe.
"Let's talk inside," Jiao An said as she stepped forward and grabbed Lu Sha's arm; her shoulder was still wrapped in a white bandage. "Come in and freshen up first; regardless of how things went with our mission, we've been facing death for several days now—you must be exhausted."
By the time An Xiaotian and Liu Xuan reached the dining table, a feast had already been prepared. "I'm sorry, comrades; this time I let you down," An Xiaotian said as he entered the room and bowed deeply. Liu Xuan quickly helped him up.
"No need for that, Captain; at least we completed our missions," Miao Chengmin reassured An Xiaotian while disguised as a human again. He stood up and lightly patted him on the shoulder, saying, "We destroyed two-thirds of three Quantum String Engine Locators. Even if they were exceptionally skilled, they couldn't use Water Skimming Warp to reach Earth anymore. If even one locator is missing a coordinate, they could drift aimlessly in space for thousands of years without finding home."
"Exactly! There's no need to be so upset, Xiaotian! All internal Humans on Earth have been wiped out, and two Quantum String Engine Locators have been destroyed—Earth is completely safe now! Let's enjoy our time!" Qin Weishan raised his glass toward An Xiaotian.
"Yes, everyone's missions were completed; there shouldn't be any issues now," An Xiaotian sighed with relief. "Fortunately, my teammates were all very capable; perhaps my mistake isn't too significant after all."
"Your Fierce Eagle Armor won't be needed anymore," Liu Xuan joked as he stood beside An Xiaotian with Miao Chengmin. "It might as well serve as an intelligent food delivery robot—that's not a bad idea."
"I hope it turns out as you said." An Xiaotian smiled and sat down with everyone, enjoying the rare celebration.
In the storage room of Antimatter Energy, Xiao Zhongda flew around the space illuminated by blue and white lights, searching for various tools that could be used for disassembly. The equipment for Interstellar Navigation operated on String Energy, featuring mechanical structures and operational modes that were almost entirely unfamiliar to it. If it could be dismantled, it would greatly benefit Xu Yicheng's Battle Armor design. Xiao Zhongda knew it had to be fully prepared; the upcoming work would surely be very busy.
"Alright," Xiao Zhongda said, putting on protective goggles and gripping a small chainsaw designed for machine disassembly. "Let's see what kind of structure you have inside."
The chainsaw gently sliced open a section of the Quantum String Engine Locator, but the ease of the cut felt strange to Xiao Zhongda. An advanced technological device used for Interstellar positioning must endure high-intensity, high-output, and sustained energy. Setting aside the importance of the Quantum String Engine Locator itself, how could its shell withstand such powerful energy output if it could be so easily cut? Moreover, Xiao Zhongda had only made a light incision with the chainsaw.
With a sense of curiosity, Xiao Zhongda continued cutting inward. However, oddly enough, even as it nearly sliced the Quantum String Engine Locator in half, it saw no internal structure. When it retracted the chainsaw to examine more closely, it realized something was off.
The cross-section of this so-called Quantum String Engine Locator was merely a piece of iron, devoid of any internal components. Thinking it had made a mistake in its cutting location, Xiao Zhongda aimed directly at where the Core was situated and made another cut. Yet when the glowing green Core was severed, the cross-section remained just a round piece of iron.
3D printing.
A realization struck Xiao Zhongda: the internal structure had not been printed at all; there was merely a fake column placed inside. Panic surged within it as it dropped the tool and rushed to the workstation's console.
