Chen Yan pinned another hairpin into her hair, trying to imitate the way the old man had done it yesterday. However, no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't get it right.
Liu Yuan sat in front of the mirror, watching Chen Yan's intense concentration, and couldn't help but chuckle.
Chen Yan pulled Liu Yuan to the park where the old man was busy styling a woman's hair. He squatted nearby, his eyes glued to the old man's every move.
The old man soon noticed Chen Yan. He glanced at him and then at Liu Yuan, smiling as he asked, "Learning to style your wife's hair?"
"Yes," Chen Yan replied proudly, nodding his head.
Liu Yuan's cheeks flushed red.
Chen Yan continued to watch as the old man styled Liu Yuan's hair, observing the technique closely. After several attempts, he felt ready to try it himself.
The old man was generous; he had Liu Yuan turn her back to him and encouraged Chen Yan to give it a go.
Chen Yan was careful, afraid of hurting Liu Yuan.
Liu Yuan remained still as Chen Yan pinned her hair up. Although his movements were a bit clumsy, he managed to complete the task.
People around them began to cast envious glances and gathered closer.
"Wow, what a loving couple."
"Look at them."
"Young man, you're so good to your wife."
Liu Yuan's face turned even redder while Chen Yan beamed with pride.
Just then, a young man approached them shyly. "Hello! I'm a Photographer Blogger. I want to take some photos of loving couples on the street, and you two are perfect for it. Would you mind helping me out?"
"No," Chen Yan shook his head firmly, holding Liu Yuan's hand. "We're heading home."
"Oh come on! Don't rush off! You two look so in love; I'll take your pictures for free!" The Photographer Blogger was very enthusiastic.
The elderly people around them chimed in supportively.
Chen Yan felt a bit awkward.
At that moment, cheers erupted from across the square. Everyone turned to see what was happening—it was a marriage proposal taking place on the other side.
Heart-shaped candles, vibrant flowers, a man kneeling on one knee, a woman moved to tears, and a crowd cheering them on filled the scene.
Liu Yuan gazed quietly at the spectacle, slowly breaking into a smile.
Chen Yan paused for a moment; he understood what Liu Yuan was thinking.
Leaning closer to her ear, he whispered softly, "Do you wish someone would propose to you?"
Liu Yuan's cheeks flushed again. "Of course not."
Chen Yan chuckled lightly. "Alright then, you don't."
Liu Yuan shot him an annoyed glance as she watched the couple in the square with a hint of disappointment in her heart.
Although she and Chen Yan had been married once before, they had never had a proposal, a wedding ceremony, wedding dresses, or even wedding photos.
All that remained was the two-inch photo on their marriage certificate. So, during the last divorce, Liu Yuan had thought to take many pictures, fulfilling her dream of wearing a wedding dress.
Chen Yan accompanied Liu Yuan as they watched someone else's proposal, squinting slightly; it seemed he needed to prepare for something as well.
...
Chen Yan began to get busy, even neglecting his work at the company. His assistant, Luo Ming, watched as Chen Yan smiled foolishly at his phone every day. He leaned over and asked, "Manager Chen, what are you laughing about?"
"None of your business," Chen Yan replied, putting away his phone but still grinning.
Luo Ming was left speechless.
"Help me prepare some things," Chen Yan said, pulling out paper and pen to jot down a few notes for Luo Ming to take care of.
Luo Ming took a look and was momentarily stunned. "Manager Chen, are you planning to propose?"
"Mind your own business," Chen Yan shot him a glare.
Luo Ming chuckled, "So you're preparing for a proposal! No wonder you've been so distracted these days."
"Less chatter, just get it done," Chen Yan said with a light laugh.
"Got it!" Luo Ming was thrilled; he was finally relieved from watching Chen Yan smile foolishly every day, which affected his work efficiency.
...
Liu Yuan stared in shock at the room filled with flowers and balloons. "What are you doing?" she asked Chen Yan.
"I called you to the villa because I have something important to tell you. Did you not notice anything at all?" Chen Yan felt a bit defeated.
Liu Yuan shook her head.
With a helpless smile, Chen Yan pulled out a ring from his pocket and knelt on one knee. "Yuan Yuan, will you marry me?"
Liu Yuan looked at him in disbelief; she never expected Chen Yan would propose to her. For a moment, she was frozen in place.
Chen Yan gazed at her. "Why aren't you saying anything?"
Feeling emotional, Liu Yuan's eyes filled with tears as she nodded. "I will."
Chen Yan sighed in relief as he slipped the ring onto her finger and then stood up to embrace her. "That's great."
"Did you learn how to style hair?" Liu Yuan asked.
"Yeah," Chen Yan admitted shyly. "I even went to ask an old man in the park for help."
"Really?" Liu Yuan was surprised that he remembered something she had casually mentioned.
"Of course," Chen Yan said proudly.
"Then I need to reward you properly," Liu Yuan said as she stood on her tiptoes and kissed his lips.
Chen Yan was momentarily taken aback but quickly reciprocated, kissing her back.
As the kiss ended, Liu Yuan nestled against him, breathless, her eyes sparkling at the sight of flowers and balloons filling the room. A wave of happiness washed over her.
Chen Yan gently released her, picking up the violin. "Shall I play for you?"
"Yes," Liu Yuan nodded eagerly.
Standing before her, Chen Yan drew the bow across the strings, his long fingers dancing gracefully. The melodious notes filled the air, creating a serene atmosphere.
Liu Yuan stepped closer, extending her hand. "May I have this dance?"
"Of course." Chen Yan handed the violin to Luo Ming and took Liu Yuan's hand, leading her in a graceful dance around the room.
Watching them, Luo Ming felt a warmth in his chest, his eyes unexpectedly glistening with tears. He had been by Chen Yan's side for many years, witnessing his struggles and triumphs. Now that Chen Yan had finally found his happiness, Luo Ming couldn't help but feel joy for him.
As the music came to an end, Liu Yuan embraced Chen Yan tightly, unwilling to let go.
The next day, after a successful proposal, Chen Yan and Liu Yuan went to obtain their marriage certificate. Chen Yan held it in his hands with delight, snapping a photo and posting it on Weibo with the caption: "After all this time, it turns out you are the one who suits me best."
Comments flooded in quickly beneath his post.

Chen Yan read through their comments with a heart full of joy.

In the end, the wedding venue was breathtakingly beautiful, rivaling that of a royal palace.
