The two of them argued until late into the night, and Chen Jia stayed up with them until dawn before finally falling asleep. When she woke up from a nap at noon, her parents had miraculously made up and even suggested that she move to the third floor to live.
Chen Jia just found out that Grandpa Jiang had come up earlier and said he was about to go to Guangzhou. Jiang Mo found out he had a stomach ulcer and he was worried about leaving him alone at home, so he asked them to take care of him more.
Because Chen Jia's parents are usually busy with work, Grandpa Jiang suggested that Chen Jia move down to stay temporarily, so the two children can take care of each other, and Jiang Mo can also find time to help Chen Jia with math.
The old leader's matter naturally cannot be neglected by Dad, especially since Jiang Mo is someone he has watched grow up. Mom also appreciates the old man's kindness, and she repeatedly urged Chen Jia to behave and not to make a scene downstairs, so as not to affect Jiang Mo's studies.
With this settled, Chen Chi has found a place to stay. Dad promised to take care of all the cooking and housework for two months, and Mom was happy to have some leisure time, so she no longer opposed Chen Chi coming over.
"Jia Jia, Jiang Mo's stomach illness requires medication at regular intervals. You need to watch the time every day and make sure he takes his medicine. Also, don't let him stay up too late. It's important to balance work and rest. Grandpa Jiang said he is in a critical period now, so we can't afford any carelessness," Dad said.
"For the math problems assigned by Jiang Mo, use your intelligence. If you don't understand, ask immediately and don't let it wait until the next day. The outside tutors don't provide such good service even if you pay them," Mom reminded.
Grandpa Jiang left that day, and Jiang Mo went upstairs to pack Chen Jia's things and put them in his deep blue suitcase, then dragged it downstairs.
Chen Jia followed him, hugging a doll, and was pleasantly surprised to see the bed, covered with pink sheets, looking fresh and new. She took off her shoes and climbed onto the bed.
The pillowcase smells of fragrant Jasmine, and Chen Jia's face is pressed against it. Her slender legs are curled up, and a soft curve rises below her lower back.
"Momo, why did you make me sleep here?" Chen Jia looks at him with bright eyes.
Jiang Mo didn't respond, Chen Jia called out to him, "Jiang Mo?"
The young man then came to his senses and nodded, "You sleep here, I'll sleep next door."
"Can I bring your DVD in?" Chen Jia looked around.
"You can."
"Television set?"
"The room is yours now, you can use it as you like."
"Wow, then I'll go rent a disc tomorrow," Chen Jia exclaimed cheerfully as she rolled around on the bed. These carefree days felt like a dream to her.
Seeing her happy expression, Jiang Mo also smiled along.
At 9pm, Chen Jia finished showering, and she shooed Xiao Yu into the cat's nest. Jiang Mo was still doing homework. Chen Jia remembered Grandpa Jiang's instructions and came over to watch Jiang Mo take his medicine.
In front of the desk, the soft light outlined a small world. Chen Jia stood by the door holding a glass, looking at Jiang Mo's upright back.
Jiang Mo has always been particularly quiet since childhood. Now that he has grown up, his quietness has turned into a confident composure.
Chen Jia silently watched, suddenly feeling playful.
She took off her slippers, tiptoed in, and when she was less than a foot away from him, the young man suddenly turned around, his gentle eyes filled with a smile.
"Discovered again."
Chen Jia felt frustrated and withdrew her hand, "Do you have eyes in the back of your head now?"
She bent down, her arm reaching over Jiang Mo's shoulder, pressing the glass onto the calculation paper covered with formulas.
Then she picked up the medicine, scooping out a white pill from the aluminum foil, placing it in her palm, carefully counting each one, and approaching him, "Here, open your mouth—"
The moist sensation came from the palm, and Chen Jia's eyelashes trembled slightly.
Jiang Mo remained silent with the pill in his mouth, Chen Jia pressed the glass to his lips, filled with a dark brown medicine, emitting a strong bitter taste.
She patted the back of his head and said in a gentle, coaxing tone, "You have to drink it all, okay?" As the medicine went down, Jiang Mo tasted bitterness in his mouth, but also a hint of sweetness on his tongue.
Chen Jia put a chocolate chip in his mouth and also put one in his own mouth.
"This is a reward, isn't it sweet?"
Under the tangerine light, Chen Jia's eyes turned into a warm brown, shaped like a crescent moon on the fifth day, with cute teeth peeking out, shimmering with innocent luster.
His gaze shifted downward, sweeping over her delicate neck, down to the soft hair at her elbow, and the little rabbit on her nightgown, before returning to her face.
She doesn't understand anything.
Jiang Mo thinks.
She had no idea about his thoughts, nor did she understand what she really meant to him.
She lived in her own world all along, but she made a mess of his world.
Jiang Mo helplessly reached out and gently tucked the girl's hanging bangs behind her ear, "Jia Jia, go to sleep, I'll rest in a while too."
"Momo, good night."
Chen Jia returned to her room and buried herself in the soft blanket, soon falling asleep.
The next day, Jiang Mo had already gone to the training team, and Xiao Yu was sitting by her pillow licking her paws.
Chen Jia grabbed Xiao Yu and rolled from the center of the bed to the edge, holding it. Then she sat up, slipped her feet into pink slippers, and ran to the living room.
Breakfast was on the table, the tofu skin and pig liver soup that she had been craving. She didn't know what time Jiang Mo had gone out to buy it.
