"Hey! What do you think, little girl? Am I still in your favor?" The senior interrupted Ziya's scrutiny without giving her a chance to respond as he grabbed her hand and pulled her outside. 0
 
"Hey! What are you doing..." Ziya struggled to break free from his grip, her face flushed as she murmured. 0
 
"What play are you two acting out?" Sun Meng suddenly appeared at the dormitory door, looking at Ziya and Qin Nannan with confusion. 0
 
"We're fine! We're just about to carry out some official business," Qin Nannan replied playfully. 0
 
"Alright, you two continue. I need to get back to my thesis," Sun Meng said before retreating back into the dormitory without further comment. 0
 
Ziya realized that this person was the assistant assigned to her by her mentor. She frowned and walked into the dormitory to grab the document bag for the Daily News Building. Ignoring Sun Meng's sarcastic expression, she turned and left the dormitory, heading straight for the school bus. 0
 
Qin Nannan shook his head with a smile and immediately followed after her. Watching Ziya's retreating figure, he secretly vowed to win over this legendary cold beauty with his determination, perseverance, kindness, and a warm heart. 0
 
The Daily News Building was located on South Ring Road, at the intersection of five roads near Line 1 of the subway. Two Stone Lions crouched at the entrance, their fierce expressions and wide-open eyes exuding an imposing presence as they flanked the grand entrance. 0
 
"Wow! Is this it? Sixteen stories high?" Qin Nannan exclaimed casually while looking up at the tall building. Meanwhile, Ziya was fixated on the two Stone Lions. Her delicate brows furrowed in astonishment as she approached them. Standing on tiptoe to examine their eyes closely, she noticed two lines of water stains running down to the corners of their mouths. 0
 
 
Qin Nannan spoke quickly, feeling ignored. His proud self-esteem had never faced such cold treatment before. He looked up at Ziya, who was gazing at the Stone Lion, and said gloomily, "Hey! Junior, are you here to enjoy the scenery or to handle business?" 0
 
Ziya paid no attention to the self-important guy behind her and continued to examine the water stains trickling from the corner of the Stone Lion's eye. The unease she felt, long dormant, suddenly stirred awake like a slumbering demon. 0
 
"What are you looking at?" Qin Nannan, seeing that his words had gone unnoticed, leaned closer to see what was so fascinating about this stone lump that had captured the beauty's attention. 0
 
"Is that water up there?" Ziya asked, looking up at the corner of the Stone Lion's eye. 0
 
"Do you want me to touch it?" Qin Nannan asked eagerly, seizing the opportunity. 0
 
"Uh! Be careful," Ziya replied as she took Qin Nannan's backpack and stepped back to caution him. 0
 
Qin Nannan rubbed his hands together, ready to show off in front of the beauty. He reached for the Stone Lion, intending to touch it... 0
 
"What are you doing? Get down! This is ridiculous; you're just kids playing around!" A security guard from the Guard Room suddenly appeared, startling Qin Nannan and causing him to fall awkwardly. 0
 
"We... we're not playing; we came here for an internship interview," Ziya hurriedly explained as she helped Qin Nannan, who was groaning in pain while clutching his foot. 0
 
"You’re reporters?" The guard asked with immediate suspicion. 0
 
"We're still students; we're just here to learn. With exams coming up, we need practical experience in society to deliver satisfactory results," Ziya continued brushing off the dust from Qin Nannan while addressing the guard. 0
 
"Do you have any relevant proof?" 0
 
"Yes, yes! Here’s our introduction letter and a recommendation letter," Ziya quickly pulled out the documents prepared by their instructor from her backpack. 0
 
After reviewing them, the guard smiled slightly and apologized, "Please understand this is my duty. Follow me." 0
 
 
Qin Nannan rubbed her sore body, gritting her teeth as she raised her fist at the security guard's retreating figure, her lips twitching, leaving Ziya behind feeling both amused and exasperated. 0
 
Upon entering the lobby of the Daily News Building, they wound their way to the Reception Room on the first floor, where they handled some related matters. A middle-aged woman wearing glasses then led them to an office. 0
 
"This is our chief editor, Zhang." 0
 
"Oh, welcome to our place for learning! True knowledge comes from practice. We're getting old; it's time for you young people to shine," said a portly man with bulging fish-like eyes, chuckling heartily. Ziya and Qin Nannan glanced around the office, which was decorated in a classical style with a hint of Asian influence, leaving one of them somewhat speechless. 0
 
"Mm-hmm!" Ziya nodded but found no further words to express the unfamiliarity and restraint brought on by the luxurious surroundings. In contrast, Qin Nannan appeared unafraid, casually looking around and thinking to herself, "This isn't even as lavish as my own home. What's so impressive about this? Look at this mismatched decor..." 0
 
"You two youngsters should learn well from Liu; she's been with us at the Daily News Building for a long time. Make sure to ask her plenty of questions," Zhang said, noticing Qin Nannan's wandering gaze. A flicker of amusement crossed his chubby face. 0
 
"Liu, please take good care of us," Ziya quickly called out to the bespectacled woman beside her. 0
 
"Don't worry, heh heh." 0
 
"Liu, that's all for now! I have other matters to attend to," Zhang said as he grabbed his briefcase and left the office. 0
 
Under Liu's guidance, Ziya and Qin Nannan stepped into the elevator. The bright red interior made Ziya uncomfortable; it was glaringly vivid, reminiscent of blood. Liu pressed the button for the 16th floor, and the elevator lights flickered through 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 before suddenly stopping.
