I let out a light laugh, "Who knows?"
The Senior Officer burst into laughter.
I continued, "But officer, are you sure that the name Hehuan Alley means what you think it does?"
The Senior Officer paused, "Doesn't it?"
I shook my head, "Of course not."
"In fact, a long time ago, the original name of Hehuan Alley was Fireworks Alley."
The Senior Officer was taken aback.
I chuckled softly, "Of course, whether that's true or not, I don't know."
"I heard it from the old man."
The Senior Officer seemed to ponder this.
I went on, "Actually, even if it's not called Fireworks Alley..."
"It will eventually become Fireworks Alley."
"After all..."
I glanced out the window, my gaze distant.
"There are plenty of 'chickens' around here."
Bang—
The door to the interrogation room was flung open.
Ma Yuan rushed in.
His eyes were filled with a mix of hatred and despair.
He stared at me intently, his voice trembling.
"Miss Lin..."
"How did you do it?"
"How on earth did you manage it?"
I remained silent.
I simply curled my lips into a meaningful smile.
New murder cases were emerging one after another, challenging the police.
The wealthy heirs were increasingly listless in prison, exhibiting unusual physical symptoms such as hair loss, skin ulcers, and gum bleeding. The Prison Doctor conducted multiple examinations, but due to the commonality of the symptoms, it was difficult to pinpoint a specific cause.
As the symptoms worsened, the first death occurred, with the cause unknown but linked to previous cases. Ma Yuan looked at the Senior Officer and said, "This is how it is."
"These people are clearly provoking us!" the Senior Officer replied with a serious expression. "You can leave now."
Ma Yuan nodded and followed the Senior Officer out of the interrogation room. They did not try to hide their conversation from me. I sat quietly in my place, listening to their footsteps fade away. A smile crept onto my lips.
"How foolish."
"I already told you all long ago."
I stepped out of the police station into the bright sunlight. I lifted my head to gaze at the sun in the sky, squinting slightly.
"It's so nice."
"The weather is really good."
I chuckled softly and turned towards the alley. The Acacia Flower Shop was still operating normally. I tidied up the shelves and restocked some items before continuing with my day.
Even though I knew there were police monitoring me outside, I simply smiled.
"Welcome," I greeted the customers who entered my shop with a calm smile.
Ma Yuan and the Senior Officer returned to my store once again. I set down the spray bottle in my hand and said with a grin, "Are you two here to buy flowers?"
Ma Yuan stared at me intensely.
Suddenly, he knelt down.
I was taken aback. "What are you doing?"
The Senior Officer turned away, letting out a long sigh.
I stepped forward, wanting to help Ma Yuan up. "Officer, what are you doing?"
Ma Yuan looked at me, his voice trembling. "Miss Lin, I don't understand why you're doing this."
"But I hope..." He bit his lip, his eyes reddening. "I beg you, spare my family."
I was momentarily stunned. "Your family?"
Ma Yuan fixed his gaze on me and said, "We have already figured it out."
"You are indeed a member of the Lin family."
"Since three years ago, you have been planning all of this."
"Including the domestic violence case, the assault on a medical worker case, the rape case, the indecency case, the theft case, the robbery case, and the murder case."
"All these cases are connected to you!"
I fell silent.
Ma Yuan continued, "We have investigated."
"The victims of these cases all had interactions with the Old Beggar at the corner."
"They often went to Old Beggar to buy medicine."
"And this medicine can cause mental issues."
"That's why those rich second-generation kids seem so mentally unwell in prison."
