Luo Qingyuan opened his eyes to meet a pair of round, green-glowing eyes. The girl grinned at him, "You're awake?"
"Where is this? Who are you?" A sharp pain throbbed at the back of his head, twisting his expression.
"My name is Yan Yan, and this is Luotuo Mountain."
Yan Yan flashed a big, bright smile, revealing her pearly teeth. "I saved you! What's your name? What do you do? You're really good-looking."
After introducing himself, Luo Qingyuan felt a chill run down his spine under her intense gaze. He remembered setting out to gather goods and passing by Luotuo Mountain when a gust of ominous wind swept through.
"Miss, can you see my attendants? They..."
"I don't know. I just brought you back with me."
Her green eyes shimmered like rippling water, and a hint of shyness crossed her face. "Luo Qingyuan, why don't you stay here and be my Husband?"
"Ah?" Luo Qingyuan was taken aback.
Frowning, he wondered which family she belonged to; she certainly had no shame. Yet, looking at her delicate features and soft skin, he found himself momentarily distracted.
Seeing that he didn't respond, Yan Yan grew a bit annoyed. "I don't care! Anyway, you can't leave now. If you go out there, the monsters in the mountains will eat you!"
Luotuo Mountain was notorious for its dangers, especially at night when it became even more terrifying. Luo Qingyuan glanced at the setting sun hanging over the mountain and realized he wouldn't be leaving tonight.
Suddenly remembering something, he turned back to ask, "Yan Yan, how come you're here all alone?"
"I live here!"
The cave was dimly lit, and there was an alluring yet eerie quality to Yan Yan's smile.
"Are you a fairy?"
On the seventh day at Luotuo Mountain, Luo Qingyuan voiced her doubts; it was impossible for an ordinary woman to survive here.
"Right? Are you scared?"
Luo Qingyuan shook her head. At first, she felt fear when she realized where she was, but after spending several days here, she found that the rumored brutality and bloodlust were absent. In fact, she only ate vegetables.
Yan Yan took a bite of a fruit and said, "Even if you're scared, it doesn't matter. You still have to stay and be my Husband."
She had finally found such a beautiful person and had managed to bring him up the mountain after knocking him out; she certainly didn't want him to be afraid.
Yan Yan tilted her head, looking somewhat distressed. "But you've been up here for seven days now, why is there still no baby in my belly?"
Luo Qingyuan blinked. "What did you say?"
"I said, why haven't you made me have a baby?" Yan Yan glared at him fiercely. Her naturally soft voice came out sounding like a pout. "Everyone is afraid of me and thinks I'm ugly, but I know I'm very pretty! I must have a Little Taotie to see what I looked like when I was little!"
"They" referred to the other Mountain Demon s and creatures in the forest.
Luo Qingyuan gently pinched her cheek. "You are very pretty."
Yan Yan's face turned red instantly. She pressed her hand against her chest, confused by the rapid beating of her heart. Was she sick?
"Yan Yan, only after getting married can we have children."
"Then let's get married!"
"But marriage requires parents to be present."
Seeing the confusion in Yan Yan's eyes, Luo Qingyuan smiled and tempted her, "Yan Yan, let's go down the mountain together."
He could not possibly grow old and die on the mountain, nor could he marry a beast. As for marrying her, he would find a way.
Yan Yan was unaware of his thoughts; she nodded happily, her chest filled with a feeling called happiness.
He knew his mother's attitude toward her and understood everything she would face.
He thought that if she couldn't bear it, she would leave—then he wouldn't be deceiving her.
But seeing her sad made him feel a tightness in his chest.
What was he supposed to do with this naive little fairy?
After being missing for several days, Luo Qingyuan returned, bringing with him a charming young woman whom he claimed to have rescued from the road. He then took over the work left behind and began overseeing the Luo Family's business.
Having stayed at the Luo Family for several days, Yan Yan rarely saw Luo Qingyuan.
Luo Qingyuan had said that he should respect his mother, as she was the one who decided whether they could marry.
Yan Yan asked somewhat ingratiatingly, "Mother, do you know where A Yuan is?"
"Who is your mother?" Mother Luo glanced at her lightly. "What is your relationship with Yuan?"
"He is my Husband," Yan Yan replied. "We are going to have little Yan Yans."
Mother Luo shot her a fierce glare. "Young lady, didn't Yuan tell you? I have already arranged a marriage for him."
Yan Yan felt a bit dazed, her emerald eyes staring blankly ahead, exuding an eerie and enchanting aura—such an unknown woman with fox-like charm would never be accepted by her!
Mother Luo, with a determined heart, beckoned a graceful and delicate young woman over. Yan Yan stared at her in a daze as Mother Luo introduced, "This is Yuan's fiancée."
She was beautiful, with exquisite features and a fragile demeanor that made one feel protective.
Yan Yan recalled the lecherous monsters in the mountains who favored this type of girl.
Feeling a surge of panic, she was unwilling to linger any longer and hurriedly turned to flee back into the house.
Luo Qingyuan was her husband, and she was his wife; they were meant to have a little Yan Yan!
A sensation akin to being squeezed by someone gripped her chest, causing a suffocating pain that nearly brought her to tears.
Just as Luo Qingyuan returned home, his mother called him over, instructing him to stay away from Yan Yan.
He brushed it off and walked toward Yan Yan's room after leaving her presence.
She clutched his pillow, sleeping fitfully.
Watching her, he felt an unexpected pang of tenderness in his heart.
Yan Yan covered her mouth in disbelief as she looked at Luo Qingyuan.
She longed to see him and ventured out of the Luo Family home, following his scent to Flower Street and Willow Alley. To her surprise, she found herself in the company of a stunningly beautiful girl, the two of them chatting amiably and appearing quite intimate.
