Chen Li and Liu Wen were in a very intimate position. They had originally been sitting across from each other, but now they were pressed closely together, with Liu Wen's hand resting on Chen Li's waist as Chen Li nestled into his embrace. This scene resembled that of a couple deeply in love.
Li Xue stared at them, her mind blank.
"Xue, you're back," Chen Li said upon seeing her, immediately pushing Liu Wen away and smiling brightly at her.
Liu Wen also stood up, smiling as he looked at her. "You're back! Come sit down."
Li Xue observed them, feeling a mix of emotions. She hadn't expected that Chen Li and Liu Wen were actually involved with each other. Were they not afraid of being discovered? This was High-End Business Restaurant, after all; their audacity was surprising.
Conflicted feelings swirled within her as she forced a smile and quickly walked to the table, pulling out a chair to sit down.
Chen Li and Liu Wen exchanged glances, sharing a silent understanding.
"Xue, what's wrong?" Chen Li leaned closer to her, concern etched on his face.
"I'm fine," Li Xue shook her head, glancing at Chen Li before looking at Liu Wen. "I'm just a bit tired."
"Have you been working too hard lately?" Chen Li frowned. "If you're tired, you should take some time off. Work will always be there."
"I'm okay," Li Xue insisted, shaking her head again. "I just didn't sleep well last night; I'm a little sleepy today."
"Then after dinner, make sure to go home and rest early," Liu Wen said kindly.
Li Xue glanced at him and softly acknowledged his concern.
Liu Wen and Chen Li resumed their conversation, discussing a wide range of topics—astronomy, geography, cultural history—they covered it all.
Li Xue listened attentively from the side, occasionally chiming in with comments. Both Chen Li and Liu Wen were highly educated individuals with extensive knowledge; their discussions were deep and engaging. Li Xue found herself learning a lot of new things.
After finishing their meal, Chen Li suggested going shopping. Li Xue had no objections, so the three of them left the restaurant together.
Li Xue parted ways with Liu Wen in the parking lot. He stood with his hands in the pockets of his suit pants, looking down at her with a gentle tone. "Message me when you get home."
“Liu Wen,” Li Xue said, her expression serious.
“Hmm?” Liu Wen looked at her in confusion.
“You actually like Chen Li, don’t you?” Li Xue got straight to the point.
Liu Wen was taken aback. He stared at Li Xue, his eyes filled with panic.
“What… what are you talking about?” he forced a smile. “How could I possibly like Chen Li?”
“Is that so?” Li Xue looked at him, her gaze sharp. “Then why is it that when both Chen Li and I were in danger, you chose to save Chen Li instead of me?”
“I…” Liu Wen wanted to explain, but he didn’t know what to say.
“Liu Wen, admit it. The person you’ve always liked is Chen Li,” Li Xue sneered. “You should be happy that we broke up.”
“Xiao Xue…” Liu Wen frowned. “What are you saying? I don’t understand.”
“Stop pretending,” Li Xue said disdainfully. “Liu Wen, your acting is really terrible.”
“I…” Liu Wen hesitated, struggling to find the words.
Li Xue looked at him with a mocking expression. Liu Wen felt uncomfortable under her gaze. He turned away, unable to look at her.
After a long moment, he finally said softly, “I’ll take you home.”
“No need,” Li Xue refused. “I drove myself.”
Liu Wen remained silent for a while before saying quietly, “Xiao Xue, you’re tired and starting to talk nonsense. I won’t break up with you.”
With that, he left in a hurry.
Li Xue watched his retreating figure and disdainfully curled her lip, giving him the middle finger. Coward!
