Li Lin clenched his fists, the anger within him burning like a raging flame. He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. "Black Blade, do you think this is over?"
The voice of Black Blade echoed from a distance, laced with mockery. "One hour, Li Lin. Don't let me down."
Li Lin turned to look at Liya and Mark, determination shining in his eyes. "We still have a chance."
Liya frowned. "Do you have a plan?"
Li Lin nodded, his voice low and resolute. "It's time to teach Black Blade a lesson."
He quickly gathered the core members of the Wasteland Watchers and briefly explained his plan. Mark looked worried. "This is too risky."
Li Lin's gaze was unwavering. "We have no choice. Xiao Xing saved us; now it's our turn to save it."
Liya tightened her grip on her weapon. "I support you, Li Lin."
Time was of the essence, and Li Lin immediately began to set the operation in motion. He dispatched a reconnaissance squad to track the raiders' movements using the faint energy traces left by Xiao Xing.
Meanwhile, Li Lin contacted an old friend—Jack, an experienced demolition expert. "I need your help."
Jack's voice crackled through the communicator, tinged with excitement. "What's the plan?"
Li Lin briefly outlined his thoughts. Jack was silent for a moment before readily agreeing. "I'll get everything ready."
The reconnaissance squad soon returned with intel. Li Lin studied the map carefully and selected an abandoned factory as their ambush point.
"This terrain is complex; it will be advantageous for us to set traps here," Li Lin said, pointing at the map.
Jack nodded. "I can plant explosives at these locations. Once detonated, they will cause maximum damage."
A glint of cold light flashed in Li Lin's eyes. "Very well, let's do it this way."
Time ticked away, and Li Lin and his team were busily preparing. Everyone knew this might be their last chance.
Just as everything was ready, Liya suddenly noticed something unusual. "Li Lin, look!"
She pointed to a hidden corner in the distance. Li Lin focused his gaze, and alarm bells rang in his mind.
There was a scout from the raiders, cautiously observing their every move.
Li Lin immediately made a decision. "Don't alert him; let him go back and report."
Liya looked at Li Lin in surprise. "Why is that?"
A sly glint crossed Li Lin's eyes. "Because this is part of our plan."
Soon, the time reached the deadline. Li Lin stood at the high point of the abandoned factory, quietly waiting for Black Blade's arrival.
The roar of engines echoed in the distance as a heavily armed group of raiders came into view, led by none other than Black Blade.
Black Blade got out of the vehicle and scanned the surroundings. "Li Lin, I know you're here; stop hiding."
Li Lin stepped out from his hiding place, his voice icy. "Release Xiao Xing, or none of you will leave here alive."
Black Blade sneered. "Just you few?" He waved his hand, and more raiders surged in from all directions.
Li Lin's heart sank; things seemed worse than expected, but his expression remained calm. "You've fallen for it, Black Blade."
Before the words could fully leave his lips, a deafening explosion shook the entire abandoned factory. The explosives set by Jack detonated, sending a multitude of raiders flying through the air.
Li Lin seized the moment, leading his squad into a fierce assault. At that instant, Xiao Xing suddenly broke free from her restraints, releasing a dazzling burst of starlight.
The raiders shielded their eyes, thrown into temporary chaos. Li Lin and his team took advantage of the confusion to launch a deadly counterattack.
The battle was exceptionally intense, with both sides suffering heavy losses. But in the end, Li Lin successfully repelled the raiders and rescued Xiao Xing.
Though Black Blade managed to escape, his forces were severely weakened. Li Lin held Xiao Xing in his arms, yet there was no joy of victory in his heart.
He knew that the secrets unveiled in this battle would fundamentally alter the landscape of the wasteland.
"Li Lin, are you okay?" Liya asked with concern.
Li Lin shook his head, his eyes filled with complex emotions. "This is just the beginning. We must uncover the truth behind Black Blade."
