Li Lin clenched his fists, recalling the confrontation with Black Blade. He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. "We need to act quickly."
Liya nodded, determination shining in her eyes. "You're right."
Li Lin swiftly gathered the Squad members and briefly outlined the plan. "We are heading into the Gray Zone; there may be remnants of the Ancient Civilization hidden there."
Rick frowned. "The radiation levels are extremely high, and there are unknown dangers."
Li Lin's expression turned serious. "Exactly why we have a chance to find crucial information there."
The Squad prepared for departure, and Li Lin conducted a final equipment check. He gently stroked Xiao Xing's head and whispered, "Are you ready, partner?"
Xiao Xing let out a soft chirp, seemingly responding to Li Lin's words. The Squad set off on their perilous journey toward the Gray Zone.
As they entered the Gray Zone, an eerie haze enveloped them, drastically reducing visibility and filling the air with a pungent odor.
Suddenly, Xiao Xing emitted a sharp cry. Li Lin immediately alerted everyone. "Everyone, get down!"
No sooner had he spoken than a violent Radiation Storm swept through, narrowly missing the Squad.
Liya sighed in relief. "Thanks to Xiao Xing's warning."
Li Lin nodded, a glimmer of gratitude in his eyes. As they continued on their path, they encountered several attacks from mutated creatures but managed to evade danger through their seamless teamwork.
Finally, amidst the ruins, Rick spotted something unusual. "Look over there!"
Everyone followed his point direction, and a hidden underground entrance came into view. Ancient and mysterious symbols were carved at the entrance.
Rick observed carefully and said, "These symbols... seem to suggest that this is a relic of an Ancient Civilization."
Li Lin's heart raced. "We found the right place. Let's go in and take a look."
The moment they stepped into the Underground Facility, they were stunned by the sight before them. Advanced technological equipment was scattered everywhere, but most of it was damaged or inoperable.
Liya rummaged through a pile of documents. "There are some medical records here that could be very helpful for treating mutated organisms and radiation damage."
Just as they were immersed in the joy of discovery, a sudden burst of gunfire shattered the silence. Li Lin immediately reacted, shouting, "Cover me!"
Members of the Raiders Group surged from all directions, and Black Blade's voice rang out amidst the chaos. "Li Lin, you really are here."
A fierce battle erupted in the narrow underground space. Li Lin and Xiao Xing worked seamlessly together, repeatedly averting crises.
As the situation began to tilt in Li Lin's favor, an unexpected figure appeared at the edge of the battlefield—a woman in a white lab coat was hiding behind a pile of equipment, watching everything in terror.
Li Lin noticed her and quickly made a judgment. "Cover me!"
He dashed through the hail of bullets toward the woman, pulling her to safety. "Who are you?"
The woman trembled as she replied, "I... I am Doctor Emily, a researcher here."
The battle finally came to an end, and the raiders were driven back. Li Lin turned to Doctor Emily, his eyes filled with questions. "Doctor, can you tell us where exactly we are?"
Emily took a deep breath, a flicker of pain crossing her eyes. "This... is the source of the civilization's collapse."
Li Lin's pupils constricted. "What?"
Emily began to speak slowly. "This facility was conducting a dangerous technological experiment that spiraled out of control, leading to the outbreak of the Nuclear War."
A wave of dizziness washed over Li Lin; the truth was too shocking. He looked at Xiao Xing and suddenly realized something. "Wait, Xiao Xing... could it be...?"
Emily nodded, a complex expression in her eyes. "That's right, the birth of the Starwing Beast is also related to this experiment."
Just then, an alarm blared suddenly. Li Lin alertly scanned the surroundings. "What’s happening?"
Emily's face turned pale. "This is bad; the laboratory's self-destruct sequence has been activated! We must leave immediately!"
