"Su Yi, what on earth are you talking about?" I struggled to suppress the anger and confusion within me, but the tremor in my voice was hard to hide. "Qin Jingyan is not an object; he has his own thoughts and feelings!"
"I know this is selfish, but this is my only wish," she said, tears streaming down her face, yet showing no remorse. "Su Yue, just pity me a little and let him be with me..."
My anger erupted like a volcano, impossible to contain. "When did Su Yi become so selfish? Doesn't she understand that feelings cannot be treated like transferable possessions?"
Before I could speak, my parents rushed into the hospital room in a panic.
My mother, tears streaming down her face, hurried to the bedside and tightly embraced my sister. As she stroked my sister's hair, she shot me a reproachful glare, blaming me for making my sister sad and causing her such distress.
My father stood nearby, his brows furrowed in deep concern, his eyes filled with unspoken emotions. He shot me a quick glance that revealed his dissatisfaction. But when he turned to my sister, all his displeasure transformed into overwhelming affection. It was clear as day that he looked down on my actions while showering my sister with love; even a blind person could see the favoritism.
With barely concealed anger, my father said, "Su Yue, can't you understand? Your sister's situation right now..."
I interrupted him, seething with rage. "What do you mean I don't understand? I've done so much for this family and for my sister! I work multiple jobs to support us; I’m the one covering her medical expenses while barely scraping by. Now you want me to give up my boyfriend? This is absurd!"
My mother impatiently chimed in, "Oh come on, Su Yue! You're always so selfish. Your sister is in such poor health; can't you show her some understanding? Is Qin Jingyan really that important to you?"
I cut her off sharply: "Yes! He is important! He is my boyfriend; we love each other. Why does he seem worthless in your eyes?"
At that moment, my sister spoke softly with a hint of grievance, "Su Yue, I just want to feel loved in these last days. Why can't you fulfill this small wish of mine?"
Heartbroken and furious, I replied, "A small wish? Do you have any idea what this means to me? You want to take away the most important person in my life and call it a small wish?"
My father shouted angrily, "Su Yue, why can't you be more understanding? Your sister is almost..."
I interrupted again: "There it is again! You always want to use my sister's illness to pressure me! Have you ever considered how I feel? I'm your daughter too!"
My mother coldly scoffed, "Why are you being so unreasonable? Your sister doesn't have much time left; can't you think of her for once?"
I laughed bitterly. "Unreasonable? You are the ones being unreasonable! Sacrificing my happiness for your sister's selfish desires?"
With tears in her eyes and a pitiful tone, my sister said, "Su Yue, I really don’t want it to be like this, but I have no choice... Just pity me a little, okay?"
At that moment, my heart felt like it was being torn apart as I stared at my sister wide-eyed. "Pity you? Who will pity me? I'm human too; I have feelings! Is this fair to me?"
The atmosphere in the room dropped to freezing point as my anger and helplessness filled the air. I turned and ran out of the hospital room, tears blurring my vision as the pain in my heart became indescribable.
