In June, the sun blazed down from the sky. Li Xue, carrying a small backpack, strolled leisurely along the roadside. The streets were sparsely populated, with only a few office workers emerging from the buildings in small groups, chatting and laughing. 0

Li Xue reached a patch of shade and fanned herself with her hand. It was so hot. She gazed at the distant sky, silently sighing to herself. If she remembered correctly, today was Saturday. The small company she worked for had a single day off system: working on Saturdays and resting on Sundays. 0

Li Xue thought that the boss must have arranged it this way to save on rent. After all, by having employees work on Saturdays, the office would be empty on that day, saving a day's worth of expenses. Shaking her head, she continued walking toward the company. 0

Inside the office, a group of people sat around a table, engaged in an intense discussion. The air conditioning hummed overhead, blowing cool air that made the sweltering summer more bearable. 0

"Out of coffee?" a bespectacled young man frowned. "How unlucky!" 0

"Maybe you should drink less," another young man chimed in. "You treat this place like a coffee shop." 0

"What do you know?" the bespectacled man retorted. "How can I write good copy without coffee?" 0

"Alright," said the man at the head of the table calmly. "Let's focus on the meeting." 0

The two young men exchanged glances and obediently fell silent. The man was named Zhang Lin, the Project Director of the company and today's meeting host. He glanced at the documents in his hand and said, "Next up, Chen Zhe." 0

As soon as he finished speaking, the door to the conference room swung open. Li Xue stood at the entrance, looking at everyone with a slight smile. "Sorry to interrupt." 0

The group froze upon seeing her. Who was this beautiful woman? 0

"Who are you looking for?" Chen Zhe instinctively asked. 0

Li Xue turned to him, her smile unwavering. "I'm here to find..." 0

"She's here to see me," Zhang Lin suddenly interjected. 0

Everyone: "???" 0

Li Xue was taken aback. 0
"Are you here to deliver the proposal?" Zhang Lin looked at her, his tone gentle. "Come in." 0
Li Xue thought to herself, "Did I say I was looking for him?" 0
However, since he had invited her, she felt it would be rude to refuse. 0
"Okay," Li Xue nodded and walked inside. 0
Chen Zhe blushed. "Sorry, I didn't know you were..." 0
"It's fine," Li Xue smiled at him. 0
Her smile left the men present in awe. 0
Beautiful... a real beauty! 0
"Ahem." Zhang Lin cleared his throat twice, reminding everyone to regain their composure. 0
As they snapped back to reality, everyone quickly lowered their heads, pretending to be busy. 0
"Your proposal has been approved," Zhang Lin said, looking at Li Xue with a serious expression. "Thank you." 0
"That's what I should do," Li Xue replied politely. 0
She was a bit surprised by Zhang Lin's attitude. The original owner wasn't familiar with him; they only exchanged greetings occasionally at the office. It was the first time he had been so amiable. 0
Having completed her task, Li Xue planned to leave. 0
Once outside the company, she walked while contemplating her life. 0
With the proposal approved, she would earn a decent bonus this month, but now she needed to start preparing the project report. 0
The project report, as the name suggests, is a report that updates upper management on the project's progress. 0
Li Xue's current project was in cultural media, requiring a lot of writing. She intended to start as soon as she got home and aimed to submit it before next Monday. 0
Lost in thought, her phone suddenly rang. 0
Pulling it out, she saw it was a call from Liu Wen. 0
She scoffed and blocked the number. 0
Just as she blocked it, a WeChat message came in—still from Liu Wen. 0
Li Xue frowned and opened the message. 0
[Liu Wen: Xiaoxue, are you home? I bought movie tickets; let's watch a movie together tonight.] 0

Li Xue expressionlessly turned off WeChat. 0

After a while, a message came through again. 0

It was still Liu Wen. 0
[Liu Wen: Xiaoxue, are you still sleeping? Let's go watch a movie tonight; it's on me.] 0

Li Xue rolled her eyes and blocked Liu Wen's WeChat account. 0

Just as she hit block, another message popped up. This time it wasn't Liu Wen, but someone else. 0
[Zhang Lin: Li Xue, I heard your writing is quite good. I'm planning to start my own cultural media company soon. Are you interested in joining?] 0

Li Xue raised an eyebrow. Was Zhang Lin trying to poach her? She stared at the message for a moment, then replied: [Sorry, I just saw your message.] 0
[Zhang Lin: No problem.] 0

Li Xue looked at the reply and pondered for a moment before typing: [Director Zhang, may I ask about the compensation?] 0
[Zhang Lin: Of course, the compensation will be generous.] 0

Li Xue felt her interest piqued. She had been worried about finding a way to make money. 0
[Li Xue: Alright, I'll consider it.] 0
[Zhang Lin: Waiting for your news.] 0

Li Xue put her phone back in her bag and continued walking forward. She planned to work on her resume as soon as she got home; if Zhang Lin offered a good salary, she would switch jobs. After all, she couldn't stay at her current company much longer—she would leave sooner or later. 0

As Li Xue was lost in thought, a voice suddenly called out from behind her. 0
"Li Xue!" 0

She turned around to see a thin young man, panting heavily and sweating profusely. "I finally caught up with you." 0

Li Xue looked at him in confusion. "You are...?" 0

"I'm Zhao Ming from the Public Relations Department," the young man gasped. "You've been quite busy lately, haven't you?" 0

"Yes," Li Xue nodded. 0

She remembered this person; he was an employee from the public relations department. They occasionally crossed paths but were not familiar with each other. 0

"Um..." Zhao Ming looked at her, hesitating. "Could you do me a favor?" 0

Li Xue raised an eyebrow in confusion. "?" 0

Fifteen minutes later, at Century Square. 0

Li Xue and Zhao Ming stood in the center of the square, watching the bustling crowd with expressions of helplessness. 0

"So, your department's girl in charge of the etiquette team suddenly fell ill?" Li Xue said, rubbing her forehead. 0

"Yeah," Zhao Ming replied with a sigh. "She ate something bad this morning and has been throwing up and running to the bathroom. She can't go on stage." 0

"And the others in your department are all busy?" Li Xue asked. 0

"Exactly," Zhao Ming sighed again. "They're all assigned to other roles, and you're the only one suitable for this." 0

"Why me?" Li Xue questioned, puzzled. 0

"Because you're the deputy project manager," Zhao Ming said seriously, looking at her. "You're in charge of this project, so you must be more familiar with it than anyone else." 0

Li Xue was left speechless. That made a lot of sense; she had no retort. 0

"What do I need to do?" she asked helplessly. 0

"Follow me," Zhao Ming said, pulling her along. 0

They arrived backstage, where a group of girls were applying makeup. 0

Upon seeing Zhao Ming, a tall girl walked over. "Zhao Ming, you're back!" 0

"Yeah," Zhao Ming nodded and then pointed to Li Xue. "This is Li Xue from the project department; she's temporarily filling in for Xiao Ling." 0

The girl looked at Li Xue in surprise. "So pretty?" 0

Li Xue was taken aback. What did she mean by that? Did I look like a backup player? 0

"Where's Xiao Ling?" Zhao Ming asked. 0

"She went to change clothes," the girl replied. 0

"I'll go find her," Zhao Ming said, glancing at Li Xue. "You wait here; I'll be right back." 0

"Okay," Li Xue nodded. 0

Once Zhao Ming left, the girl turned to Li Xue with a curious expression. "Which department are you from?" 0

"The project department," Li Xue replied politely. 0

"Oh," the girl nodded, "what's your name?" 0
"My name is Li Xue," Li Xue replied. 0
"I'm Lu Xiaoyu," the girl said enthusiastically, "you can call me Xiaoyu." 0
"Okay, Xiaoyu," Li Xue smiled. 0
As they were chatting, another girl approached them. 0
This girl was petite, with fair skin and a rather cute appearance. 0
She looked at Li Xue, her gaze timid: "Hello." 0
Li Xue looked at her and smiled, "Hello, you must be Xiao Ling?" 0
"Yes," the girl nodded. 0
"Xiao Ling, where's your dress?" Lu Xiaoyu asked. 0
"It's right here," Xiao Ling said softly, raising the bright red qipao in her hands. 0
Li Xue looked at the qipao, her lips twitching slightly. 0
This qipao... is way too red. 0
"Li Xue, this dress is for you," Xiao Ling said as she handed the qipao to Li Xue. 0
"Thank you," Li Xue said politely as she accepted the qipao. 0
"Well, you two chat for now; I have to go take care of something," Lu Xiaoyu said before leaving. 0
Li Xue looked at Xiao Ling, who was also looking back at her. 0
They exchanged glances, and the atmosphere became a bit awkward. 0
"Um..." Xiao Ling spoke softly, "do you need to change?" 0
"Yes," Li Xue nodded. 0
"I'll wait for you outside then," Xiao Ling said before lowering her head and walking away. 0
Li Xue watched her retreating figure and sighed inwardly. 0
What a shy girl she is. 0
... 0
Not far away, a man in black casual wear silently observed Li Xue. 0
Watching her enter the changing room, he took out his phone and sent a message. 0
