I coldly watched the scene unfold, a surge of satisfaction rising within me. "Serves you right!"
Xiao Jingyan took a deep breath, a glimmer of determination flashing in his eyes. "Someone! Keep a close watch on Su Jin!"
Several disciples rushed forward and dragged Su Jin away.
In the great hall, only the sounds of Xiao Yifeng's painful retching and Su Jin's piercing screams remained.
Su Jin was in tears.
"Yifeng, let me explain..."
"I don't want to hear it!"
Xiao Yifeng shook his head frantically, fear and disgust filling his eyes, his stomach churning violently.
Xiao Jingyan took another deep breath, determination flickering in his gaze.
"Someone! Keep a close watch on Su Jin!"
Several disciples immediately rushed forward and dragged Su Jin away.
Su Jin's cries and Xiao Yifeng's dry heaves echoed in the dungeon, sharp and mocking.
At that moment, an inner disciple came to report.
"Master, Beastmaster Peak's Master Xu Ming invites you, Elder Li, and Mr. Xiao to a gathering."
Beastmaster Peak, a secluded courtyard.
In the courtyard, several large spirit beasts lazily basked in the sun, occasionally letting out low growls.
"Master Xiao, Young Sect Master, Mr. Xiao, please."
Xu Ming gestured for us to enter, a mysterious smile playing on his lips, making it hard to discern his intentions.
I frowned slightly, a sense of wariness rising within me.
What exactly was Xu Ming up to?
Xiao Jingyan maintained his usual demeanor and walked straight into the courtyard.
I followed closely behind, my gaze sweeping over the spirit beasts. I noticed their eyes held a strange glint, tinged with hostility and caution.
"Master Xu,"
Xiao Jingyan spoke calmly, his tone carrying an air of authority.
"You specifically called us here for what purpose?"
Xu Ming smiled, but there was a chilling undertone to it.
"It's nothing serious; I just wanted to catch up with Master Li."
He turned to me, his eyes reflecting a complex mix of emotions—nostalgia intertwined with resentment.
"Master Li, do you remember me?"
I scoffed inwardly. How could I possibly forget?
If it weren't for his instigation and the rumors he spread back then, I would never have ended up paired with Xiao Yifeng, subjected to such humiliation, almost entrusting myself to the wrong person!
"Master Xu is joking," I replied coolly, my eyes betraying no emotion.
"How could I forget you?"
Xu Ming's smile faltered for a moment before returning to normal, as if nothing had happened.
"That's good to hear."
He turned to me, his tone suddenly serious.
"Master Xiao, Young Sect Master, Mr. Xiao, I’m taking you somewhere."
I felt a pang of confusion but followed him out of the courtyard.
Xu Ming led us to a secluded cave, its entrance obscured by dense vines. It was hard to spot unless one looked closely.
"This is the forbidden area of Beastmaster Peak," he said in a low voice.
"Only the Masters of past generations can enter."
He walked up to a wall and infused it with a surge of spiritual energy. The wall slowly opened, revealing a dark passage that seemed like a gateway to hell.
"Please, come in."
Xu Ming gestured for me to enter, a glint of cunning flashing in his eyes.
My heart raced with confusion, but I followed him into the passage.
The corridor was long, and after what felt like an eternity, we finally reached the end. The air was thick with a damp and decaying odor that made me feel nauseous.
At the end was a spacious stone chamber, in the center of which stood a mystical mirror. Its surface was as smooth as water, reflecting our blurred silhouettes.
"What is this?"
I asked curiously, a sense of unease creeping over me.
"This is the Retracing Mirror," Xu Ming replied, his tone laced with pride.
