On March 31, 2013, Lin Senhao walked out of the laboratory carrying a yellow bag, heading toward the dormitory.
It was a Sunday, and all his roommates had gone out to have fun, leaving Lin alone.
After locking the door to his room, he poured the highly toxic chemical into the water tank of the dispenser.
Then he took out a syringe from the bag and injected the remaining chemicals into the dispenser.
Afterward, he separated the chemical bottle and syringe.
Upon returning to his dormitory, Lin felt extremely anxious. He sat at his computer desk and searched online to see if dimethylnitrosamine had any odor.

Seeing that Huang Yang's symptoms were getting worse and worse, Lin Senhao kept comforting himself. He thought Huang Yang would survive like most of the mice he studied, but two days later, Huang Yang was admitted to the intensive care unit. After Huang Yang was admitted to the intensive care unit, the attending doctor suspected that Huang Yang was poisoned by food or drinking water. He asked Huang Yang's senior to help take blood and urine samples to the testing agency. When Lin Senhao learned about the test, he quickly put the bucket outside to try to let the dimethylnitrosamine evaporate as soon as possible, and then returned the bucket to the dormitory manager and put it between the 19 buckets. When the testing agency tested the sample, because dimethylnitrosamine is very rare and not within their testing range, the test results were inconclusive.
Hearing this, Lin Senhao finally put down his worries, so the next day, Lin Senhao came to the hospital and visited Huang Yang through the glass window. At that time, Huang Yang's father felt very strange. Why could Lin Senhao, as Huang Yang's roommate, be so calm when he saw Huang Yang with tubes inserted all over his body? Time passed by, but the hospital still could not find out the cause of Huang Yang's illness, so the doctor could not carry out targeted treatment. On April 4, after another roommate returned to school and heard about Huang Yang's situation, he hurried to the hospital to visit Huang Yang and checked Huang Yang's medical records. The acute liver damage written on the medical record caught his attention. After repeatedly checking the documents, he found that Lin Senhao had experimented with dimethylnitrosamine to cause acute liver damage in mice, so he quickly asked his senior to test this substance. As expected, dimethylnitrosamine was found in Huang Yang's urine, drinking water, and bucket. This substance is very rare, and no one would bring it back to the dormitory. They suspected that someone had deliberately poisoned him, and then they quickly called the police, and the police immediately came to the scene to investigate. After a lot of investigation, Lin Senhao was confirmed as a major suspect in the case. On April 12, the 12th day after Huang Yang was poisoned, Lin Senhao was summoned for criminal investigation. When the police questioned him, Lin Senhao refused to admit his crime. At first, he told the police that he poured a mixture of formalin into the bucket.
