"Look over there," Logan points to the faintly visible stone steps ahead. "That should be the path to the Godly Temple. Legend has it that this was once a sacred place of the Ancient sorcerer, hiding many lost magics and secrets."
Selena followed cautiously behind, her green eyes flashing with curiosity and vigilance in the shadows. She whispered, "I can sense powerful magic energy here. This is no ordinary forest; we must tread carefully with every step."
They followed the stone steps for about half an hour, finally arriving at an ancient church hidden among the ancient trees and vines. The outer walls of the church were covered with thick moss, and the stone carvings depicted various mysterious symbols and patterns, giving it a sacred yet slightly stern appearance.
Garys walked ahead, his gaze firm and deep, revealing a longing for the unknown. He pushed open the heavy stone door, and a cold wind blew out from within, carrying the rich scent of books and the dust of time.
"The air here... it's somewhat unusual," Garys said, his voice echoing within the vast Godly Temple.
As the four entered the heavy doors of the mysterious church, the dim interior lighting suddenly brightened, revealing a huge circular hall.
In the center of the hall stood a massive stone altar, surrounded by countless stone pillars, each carved with intricate runes and ancient symbols, as if recording the undiscovered history of this world.
Arya walked ahead, her magic wand gently glowing in her hand, illuminating the path before her. Her face showed a hint of excitement, but more so concentration and vigilance. Her eyes scanned the surroundings from time to time, as if searching for hidden secrets or potential dangers.
Garys followed closely behind, his expression calm and his gaze sharp. When his eyes landed on the large door sealed with runes ahead, he stopped in his tracks and furrowed his brow.
"These runes are very ancient, not like the ones we usually see in magical texts," Gary whispered to the person next to him, Logan.
Logan nodded, his face showing a thoughtful expression. Meanwhile, Selena moved closer, her eyes curiously examining the smooth and cold stone walls, as if she could read countless stories from them.
Arya turned to Garys with anticipation in her eyes: "Garys, can you unlock it?"
Garys smiled at her and then walked towards the gate. He reached out his hand, his fingertips glowing slightly, and began to touch the runes, attempting to establish a connection with the magical energy between them. Before long, the runes on the gate began to glow, beams of light jumping between them as if activating an ancient mechanism.
After a few minutes, a deep rumbling sound echoed, and the large door slowly opened, revealing a passage to the next room. Garys turned his head, nodded to Arya, and a proud smile appeared on his face.
Arya's eyes flashed with admiration, "You're amazing, Garys! Without you, we might still be wandering outside."
Garys just smiled lightly without saying much. He knew in his heart that despite the increasingly intimate relationship between him and Arya, he had to keep his distance and not let his true identity be revealed. This was his responsibility and burden.
As the door swung open completely, a fresh, slightly musty-smelling air rushed towards them. The four of them stepped into the next room together.
After the first challenge at the Ancient Deity Church, the four young wizards continued their exploration. Deep within the church, they encountered the second major challenge: a maze formed by magical power. This maze appeared to be a clever design by Ancient sorcerer to protect sacred artifacts from external interference.
As they step by step enter the maze, every turn may hide unknown dangers or lead them deeper into the path. The air is filled with the scent of ancient magic, and the light and shadow in the maze are unpredictable, accompanied by occasional low echoes.
Logan, a young man skilled in Elemental Magic, plays an important role at this moment. He closes his eyes, focusing on sensing the flow of elements around him. His palm gently waves in the air, perceiving the energy strength and direction of each passage.
"This path... is safe," Logan pointed to a seemingly ordinary passage on the left, then opened his eyes to confirm to Arya and the others. His ability allowed him to sense which paths were safe, crucial for them to avoid falling into traps.
Arya nodded, trustingly following the direction indicated by Logan, her magic staff tightly gripped in her hand, ready to face any potential danger. Selena and Garys followed closely behind, each person highly alert.
Throughout the journey, they narrowly avoided triggering the hidden magical traps within the maze several times, thanks to Logan's timely reminders. Not only could Logan sense the safe pathways, but he could also slightly perceive the energy types of the traps, allowing the entire team to explore this mysterious area more safely.
"Every time we avoid these traps, I feel like we are getting closer to the truth," Logan said, with a determined expression on his face.
"Yes, your abilities are truly invaluable, Logan," Arya replied with a smile, her eyes shining with gratitude.
