Strangely, there were fruits in their stomachs, which means that the deceased had eaten fruits after taking the pesticides, which was incomprehensible in extreme pain. Moreover, they did not show any signs of asking for help, and all stayed in their beds and chose to die. The police assumed a possibility at the time, that is, collective suicide, but they could not find any reason or evidence at all. According to the dormitory manager, there were a total of 8 people in the dormitory, which means that one person survived. So the breakthrough of the whole case was the eighth girl in the dormitory. The police quickly found Xiaomei, but she did not seem to be afraid of the police's arrival, as if she had been prepared for it. During the questioning, Xiaomei claimed that all of this was instructed by her roommate Liu Yue, and they all chose to accompany Liu Yue to commit suicide. But the police didn't believe her at all, because according to the evidence collected at the scene, Xiaomei's fingerprints were left on the water cups of the seven dead people, and also on the fruit knife, and the owner of the agricultural supply store confirmed that Xiaomei had gone to the store to buy pesticides. But Xiaomei was not afraid of the series of hard evidence presented by the police. She also had her own reasons and explanations, and emphasized that it was Liu Yue who asked her to do so. She claimed that Liu Yue had the idea of committing suicide because of a broken heart, so she entrusted her to help buy a bottle of pesticides. After buying the pesticides, Liu Yue said that she was afraid of being lonely, so she asked the six classmates in the dormitory to die with her, and begged Xiaomei to help her.
So on the evening of the 22nd, Xiaomei gave them water with pesticides according to Liu Yue's request, and 7 people drank the pesticides at the same time. Because of the great pain after taking the medicine, Xiaomei handed them fruits to relieve their pain. Soon, 7 people died due to the violent reaction of pesticides, and Xiaomei stayed there with them all night until she asked for leave to go home early the next morning. As for Xiaomei's statement, the police quickly found Liu Yue's boyfriend and confirmed that the two had just broken up. However, because Xiaomei participated in the poisoning and murder throughout the process, the police prosecuted her for joint crime. Although Xiaomei's lawyer tried her best to help her get rid of the charges, the law still severely punished her and sentenced her to life imprisonment.
