She looked at him with bright eyes, and Gert eagerly opened the file bag. Inside was a neatly bound contract, which he only glanced at before joyfully hugging Elena.
"You are truly my good sister. How did you know I wanted this project?"
Gert hugged with great strength, and Elena was almost out of breath. When she finally broke free from Gert's embrace, she immediately took a big step back.
"You're amazing, Elena, truly amazing," Gert's joy overflowed, leaving Elena blushing at his straightforward praise. "Oh, it's just a small gift, nothing special."
She flicked the stray hair by her ear and raised her chin in a proud manner. However, anyone could tell that she was in a very good mood. "Did you give Gert a gift?" Carrying her afternoon tea upstairs, Elena chuckled at her father's slightly reproachful tone.
"What about mine?" Mr. Snowd asked childishly, demanding his share. Elena placed her index finger on her lips and pondered, "How about this?" She leaned in and kissed her father on the cheek.
Smiling at the old Snowd with a happy yet awkward expression on his face, Elena knew that her father was very satisfied with his gift. Elena is a person who keeps her promises. On the day she handed over the land deed to Gert, she fulfilled her promise.
In the hospital ward, Amanda happily takes the apple that Osiris has cut for her. Before the sweet taste can reach her mouth, several men and women in doctor's uniforms stop at the door of the ward. The leader is a middle-aged man with half-white hair, rough skin, and glasses, giving him a scholarly appearance.
"Is this Miss Amanda's ward?" The man politely greeted the people in the room before introducing himself with a smile. "I am a friend of Professor Jason Parry. He is on a business trip in Marseille and won't be back until tomorrow, so we came today to conduct a comprehensive full-body examination for Miss Amanda."
When Jason Parry was mentioned, Osiris politely stood up and was about to speak when Amanda tugged at his sleeve. He lowered his head, feeling sorry for Amanda's timid appearance. " Aussie, I'm scared. Can we let they go, please?"
She tightly clutched Osiris and glanced at the doctors at the door. She recognized the one in the lead as the doctor who had examined her the last time she was held down. He was one of Elena's people.
This realization instantly made Amanda resist with her whole body.
"Amanda, don't be silly," Osiris frowned, but still patiently persuaded, "They were specially invited by me, a medical professor who has made great achievements in treating legs. Let them see your condition first. Don't you want to get better?"
Amanda lowered her head, not knowing what she was thinking. Osiris sighed.
He could understand Amanda's anxiety, but he didn't intend to miss the opportunity in front of him.
"Thank you, everyone," he said.
Amanda suddenly looked up, wanting to grab Osiris again, but he had already stepped back a few paces. She was left empty-handed, only managing to grab a handful of air.
"Aussie!"
Amanda's eyes welled up, Osiris turned away, no longer daring to look.
The examination took longer than expected.
Osiris silently watched Amanda from initially resisting to giving up resistance, her pitiful appearance making him feel uncomfortable as well.
"The detailed treatment plan will have to wait until Professor Jason Parry arrives tomorrow to discuss together. Mr. Osiris, Miss Amanda needs to fast from now on," the old doctor reminded before leaving with the team.
He left, and Amanda cried as she hugged Osiris.
"Don't be afraid, I promised to heal your legs, everything will be fine," Osiris gently patted her back.
But he didn't see the anger and resentment in Amanda's eyes as she clung to his waist.
