Xiao Liu set out, leaving Lan Xiaobao behind in Liu Yun Palace. 0

"I'll be fine, don't worry. Wait for me to come back." 0

He left in a hurry, summoning the ministers of the court overnight to discuss matters, and the next day he departed without pause, only managing to say those few words. 0

Lan Xiaobao walked back gloomily, feeling the disdain of the ministers around him. Some even boldly mocked him: "Lan Xiaoqing, you should go over there." He pointed toward the area where the palace consorts resided. 0

Unconsciously, Lan Xiaobao walked in that direction. The consorts' expressions were not pleasant either; they turned away in disgust. As he brushed past one of them, he heard a cold laugh: "Useless! You should be the one going to battle!" 0

Lan Xiaobao looked up to see a woman in an elegant white dress, unadorned with makeup, possessing a beauty that overshadowed all others. 0

"Sister, you are truly beautiful," Lan Xiaobao said sincerely as he gazed at her, then sighed. "A person as beautiful as you would have any man cherishing you in his hands. Why compete with these ordinary women for a man who doesn't love you?" 0

The Beauty was taken aback, and Lan Xiaobao added, "Sometimes, one has no choice." 0

Returning to the palace, he lay on the dragon bed. He had pretended to be profound earlier, but his mind was racing. She was right; he was from Tiger Gate and should be guarding Border Defense in Desert City at this time instead of allowing Xiao Liu to lead the charge. 0

He touched the small token on his chest and thought, I'm not a woman; why should I wait at home like a useless wife? 0

Half a month later, news arrived from Desert City that the Emperor had been injured, and Lan Xiaobao vanished. 0

Holding the command token, Lan Xiaobao gathered the city guards and rushed overnight to Desert City. 0

For several years, the Barbarians had been quiet, but this time they emerged in full force. The Border Defense was already desolate, and now with the onset of war, chaos reigned. Everywhere one looked, there was swirling yellow sand, with only a few Wolf Poison Flowers appearing sporadically. 0

Amidst the bleakness, Lan Xiaobao felt his blood boiling with excitement. He took a deep breath; the wind at the Border Defense was sharp as a knife, cutting through him and bringing a burning sensation that was both strange and familiar. Lan Xiaobao felt his heart racing—indeed, every man of the Lan Family should stand here to defend their homeland and stain the battlefield with their blood. 0

Ahead, fierce fighting had already broken out. Xiao Liu's banner flew high, and with his blood pumping, Lan Xiaobao raised his sword and charged in like a fearless little wolf cub. Then… he fell headfirst! 0

He was too short and riding a small horse that was unaccustomed to the soft sand; when it became displeased, it threw him off. 0

Lan Xiaobao tumbled several meters before rolling to a stop in front of the two armies' commanders. The commander, caught up in the heat of battle, froze for a moment as he watched Lan Xiaobao get up, shaking off the dust to stand unsteadily like a little dirt dog. 0

"Little Bao?!" Xiao Liu exclaimed in surprise. Lan Xiaobao turned around, feeling quite pleased. 0

"Brother Seven, I’m here to help you!" 0

"Haha," laughed the enemy commander, the Barbarian King, mockingly. "Is there truly no one in Xiao Kingdom? Even a weaned girl has come to fight?" 0

Lan Xiaobao's anger flared; he thrust his sword forward: "Clean your dog eyes and see clearly—I am a man!" 0

The attack was unexpected and fierce. The Barbarian King hurriedly dodged but still felt the blade graze his cheek, leaving a bloody mark. The worst part was that he fell from his horse; though it was just for an instant, it brought him great humiliation. The Barbarian King's face darkened, his eyes filled with murderous intent. 0

"Who are you?" 0

"Lan Family!" Xiao Liu answered for Lan Xiaobao, pulling him up onto his horse. He raised his sword high and shouted, "Brothers, Tiger Gate and the Lan Family have returned!" 0

Lan Xiaobao looked up and saw the man's eyes filled with blood-red sand and an army of thousands. 0

He pulled out the flag of the Lan Family from his bosom, the character "Lan" standing boldly for righteousness. With a flick of his hand, it soared high, the unchanging vow of the Lan Family resonating once again throughout Desert City. 0

"Until the Barbarians are dead, the Lan Family will not retreat! Until Desert City is at peace, Tiger Gate will endure!" 0

"I, Lan Xiaobao, have returned!" 0

He sought stability for the world, dedicating his life to the battlefield for that purpose. 0

Since childhood, he had cherished it dearly, holding it in his palms and nurturing it with care. 0

This battle was won without a fight; the century-old reputation of Tiger Gate and the Lan Family still instilled fear across this land. 0
