The townspeople stared at Erin and Lisa with wild eyes, filled with fervor and hatred, as if they could devour them at any moment. Erin felt a wave of suffocation wash over her, her heart pounding with fear and helplessness. They knew they had to find a way to escape quickly, or they would be caught by this frenzied mob and become the next sacrifices.
At that moment, Lisa suddenly grimaced and collapsed to the ground, letting out a piercing scream. Erin jumped in shock and quickly crouched down to check on her. "What’s wrong?" Erin asked anxiously, worry flooding her heart.
Lisa was in so much pain she could barely speak, only managing to stammer, "My stomach..." Her face was pale, and cold sweat beaded on her forehead, clearly enduring immense agony.
Erin's gaze followed Lisa's words to her abdomen, where she saw it swelling at an alarming rate, as if she were pregnant in an instant. Erin's eyes widened in disbelief. "This... this can't be happening!" she gasped softly, fear and confusion gripping her.
The shouts of the townspeople grew closer, and Erin felt time slipping away. But she couldn't abandon Lisa. "Lisa, hang in there! We will escape!" she whispered with determination and courage.
Lisa nodded painfully, trying to rise, but the sharp pain in her stomach made it difficult for her to move. Erin gritted her teeth, anxiety coursing through her. Taking a deep breath, she mustered all her strength to support Lisa, attempting to help her flee this mad place.
The townspeople reached out toward them, their faces twisted with frenzy and rage. Erin felt a surge of despair but knew this was not the time to give up. She inhaled deeply and said with all her might to Lisa, "We can't give up! We will escape no matter how hard it gets!"
The townspeople surrounded Erin and Lisa like a pack of wolves, their eyes burning with fervor and hatred as if they could tear them apart at any moment. Erin gripped the gun tightly in her hand, trying to intimidate the approaching mob with it, but her hands trembled uncontrollably as fear and despair overwhelmed her. "Stay back!" she shouted, but her words fell on deaf ears among the crazed townsfolk.
Their footsteps did not falter; their eyes were filled with madness and anger. Erin felt suffocated by helplessness and panic. She knew that the gun might save them, but she wasn't sure if she had the courage to pull the trigger.
Just then, Diego Montoro suddenly shouted angrily, "Everyone back off!" His voice echoed through the church, causing all the townspeople to halt in their tracks and look at him in shock.
"Don't you see?" Diego continued shouting, his voice brimming with fervor and excitement. "The prophecy is coming true!" He then erupted into fits of manic laughter that echoed with madness and joy.
Erin was filled with confusion and fear as she turned to look at the altar, realizing that Raphael had completed the sacrifice amid the chaos. The knife had pierced Mark's lower body, blood pouring from his wound.
At that moment, Diego laughed again, his voice filled with insanity and delight. He pointed at Raphael on the altar and exclaimed fervently, "Look! The prophecy is being fulfilled!" Erin looked at Raphael in terror and noticed something red and black stuffed into his bullet-pierced eye—something grotesque and horrifying.
A satisfied smile spread across Raphael's face as if he felt no pain; his gaze was cold and filled with madness. Erin shuddered; she knew this place was rife with insanity and danger—they had to escape quickly.
Raphael stood up forcefully, swaying as he moved forward while tightly clutching Mark's severed lower body. He shouted wildly, "The second part of the prophecy... The Son's egg sac... is now one with me!" His voice echoed throughout the church with madness and fervor. "Therefore... her arrival has already manifested upon the wise!"
He raised the bloody severed body part high above him, gazing feverishly at Lisa on the second floor. "Look! Isn't that his incarnation?" Raphael pointed vigorously at Lisa, his voice laced with ecstatic zealotry.
Eileen felt a sudden numbness in her mind, instantly thinking that all of this was impossible. She looked at Lisa, her heart filled with fear and confusion. Lisa's face was pale, her hands clutching her stomach, her eyes filled with pain and terror. Despair washed over Eileen as she realized that the crazed townspeople had completely believed Raphael's words; they would stop at nothing to fulfill this mad prophecy.
The townspeople's gazes shifted towards Lisa under Raphael's guidance, their eyes brimming with awe and fervor. Eileen felt a wave of suffocation; she knew these frenzied villagers would unhesitatingly bring Raphael's prophecy to fruition, no matter the cost.
"This can't be happening..." Eileen murmured softly, trying to calm herself. She watched Lisa, struggling to keep herself alert.
Diego Montoro stood on the platform, his face twisted into a maniacal grin, his eyes sparkling with madness. "Her arrival has already manifested in the Seer!" he proclaimed loudly, his voice echoing throughout the church.
The townspeople gazed at Lisa, whose belly had swollen like a balloon, and began to kneel in reverence. In an instant, everyone in the church was on their knees, as if Eileen and Lisa were the most important beings in existence. Eileen watched this scene unfold, feeling a surge of fear and helplessness; her heart was filled with unease and doubt.
Lisa clutched her stomach, groaning in agony on the floor, her gaze becoming hazy as confusion and terror filled her voice. "Eileen... am I going crazy? I... I heard that voice... It told me... how much it loves me..." Lisa's voice grew weaker, her eyes losing focus as if she were about to vanish from this world.
Eileen stared in shock at the unfolding scene, her heart heavy with despair and pain. She didn't know how to help Lisa or how to face this insane situation. Tears filled her eyes as helplessness and sorrow overwhelmed her.
"Lisa..." Eileen whispered, her voice thick with anguish and despair. She tried to reach out to comfort Lisa but knew that everything had spiraled beyond her control. She watched as the light faded from Lisa's eyes, feeling an overwhelming sense of powerlessness.
"Eileen... I'm so scared..." Lisa's voice came weakly, filled with fear and helplessness. "It’s talking to me... It says it loves me... but... why is this happening?"
Eileen looked at Lisa in pain, her mind swirling with countless questions and fears. What exactly was inside Lisa's belly? Was it the cicada that had appeared repeatedly in her dreams? Or was it some terrible joke played by the cicada? Every cell in Eileen's body screamed that if whatever was inside were to be born, the world would surely be doomed.
Lisa's face contorted in agony, beads of cold sweat forming on her forehead as she pressed her hands tightly against her belly, her eyes pleading and desperate. Eileen's heart twisted painfully; she knew she had to make a difficult decision.
With trembling hands, Eileen slowly raised the gun, aiming it at Lisa's belly. Her heart was filled with anger and despair as tears welled up in her eyes. She struggled to calm herself, taking a deep breath while gently placing her finger on the trigger.
"I'm sorry, Lisa..." Eileen said softly, her voice heavy with pain and choking back sobs. "I can't let this thing be born... no matter what it is... I can't let it destroy this world..."
Lisa moaned in agony, fear and helplessness reflected in her gaze. Her lips trembled as if she wanted to say something but ultimately remained silent.
Eileen's finger tightened around the trigger, torn between struggle and contradiction. She didn't want to hurt her friend but knew she had no other choice. Despair and powerlessness flooded her heart as tears finally streamed down her cheeks.
Just then, Lisa suddenly let out a piercing scream, her body convulsing violently. Eileen felt a sharp pain in her heart; her hands trembled as helplessness and fear filled her eyes.
"Damn it..." Erin muttered under her breath, tears streaming down her face. She knew she had to make this decision, but her heart was filled with countless struggles and contradictions.
"You bastard!" Lisa suddenly shouted in a fit of rage, her eyes wild with fury. "How dare you point a gun at my child? Who do you think you are? You have no idea how sacred this existence is!"
Erin was taken aback by Lisa's anger, her hands trembling even more, the gun nearly wavering from its aim. "Lisa, calm down. I just want to protect you..." she tried to explain, but Lisa's fury drowned out her words.
"Protect me? You're trying to kill my child! You have no idea how great He is! He is the embodiment of God!" Lisa's voice turned sharp, her gaze filled with fanaticism and obsession.
Erin's heart was torn with conflict and pain; she didn't know what to do. Her finger tightened on the trigger, but she couldn't bring herself to pull it. Tears filled her eyes, and despair overwhelmed her.
"Lisa... I can't let this thing be born..." Erin whispered, her voice thick with anguish and choking emotion. "I have to stop it..."
"You bastard! You lunatic!" Lisa screamed frantically, clutching her belly tightly, her eyes blazing with anger and hatred. "You have no idea how great He is! You will destroy everything!"
Erin felt as if her heart was being ripped in two; she was lost in indecision. Her hands shook as the gun remained aimed at Lisa's belly, but she couldn't muster the resolve to pull the trigger.
"Lisa... please believe me..." Erin said softly, her voice filled with pain and pleading. "I just want to protect you..."
"Protect me? You don't deserve that!" Lisa shouted in fury, her eyes brimming with hatred and obsession. "You lunatic, you'll only ruin everything!"
Erin's heart was heavy with helplessness and despair; she didn't know what to do. Her finger remained tightly on the trigger, yet she couldn't find the courage to act. Tears clouded her vision as she grappled with endless struggles and contradictions within herself.
