Chapter Eight: The Professor's Concerns 0

Bai Luo's mouth twitched slightly. 0

Since Charles had brought up the topic to this extent, Bai Luo, not being foolish, understood that this "long-distance mental video call" was indeed purposeful. The purpose, it seemed, was to prevent Bai Luo from being swayed by Magneto after meeting him. 0

Although Bai Luo appeared to be only nine and a half years old, his mental age far exceeded his physical appearance. He could easily deceive Magneto, but it would be impossible for Magneto to manipulate him into engaging in terrorist activities for mutants. 0

Moreover, with a mission at hand, Bai Luo was even less likely to assist Magneto in carrying out any attacks. 0

The professor was clearly overthinking things. 0

However, Bai Luo didn’t mind much. He glanced at Charles, lingering on his bald head for a moment before saying, "Professor, you can rest assured. I won’t help Magneto with anything. I just want to meet him because someone is making the introduction. After seeing him, I plan to find Howard Stark." 0

While Bai Luo did intend to gain some benefits from Magneto, his first choice of meeting Magneto was indeed due to Mystique's timely appearance. Magneto was not someone to be trifled with; it was only through Mystique's connection that there was any possibility of interaction. Therefore, he was being half-truthful and half-false. 0

Charles furrowed his brow slightly; he still seemed somewhat worried that Bai Luo was on the "wrong path." At that moment, Bai Luo resembled a character from a martial arts novel—a seasoned master earnestly advising a young disciple. 0

And Charles truly embodied such a figure; his leadership style was not that of a tyrant but rather akin to that of a mentor. 0

Yet he refrained from further persuasion and said, "I happen to know people at S.H.I.E.L.D. If you really want to meet Howard Stark, I can give them a heads-up for you." 0

Bai Luo had been waiting for this very statement from Charles. He smiled and replied, "That would be perfect! Thank you very much, Professor." 0

His lack of decorum even caught Charles off guard for a moment. 0

Bai Luo continued, "Of course, I will also make time to meet you in person. After all, the great bald leader is respected by everyone, and my sister probably still needs your help..." 0

"My school is always open to anyone in need of assistance." 0

This was the last thing Charles said to Bai Luo. After those words, Charles's figure suddenly vanished from the room as if he had never been there at all. 0

At the same moment, in a school in New York, it is worth mentioning that this school has a rather peculiar name—Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters. 0

Indeed, this is the Mutant School founded by Charles Xavier, and he built it in New York with such an unusual name, making it hard for anyone to remain unaware of its existence. 0

Back to the main point, at this very moment, in a vast, ultra-modern spherical metallic room beneath the school, the bald Charles was slowly removing his helmet and letting out a sigh. 0

Beside him, wearing distinctive sunglasses, Cyclops Scott Summers said, "Professor, have you successfully communicated with that 'peculiar' Eastern boy?" 0

Charles nodded and replied, "He is merely a child who hasn't reached adulthood yet, but his mental capacity is at an adult level. The most crucial part is that I cannot listen to or influence his mind." 0

"Is he a mutant?" 0

"No, no," Charles said. "That is what puzzles me the most. He clearly isn't a mutant yet possesses abilities similar to those of mutants; he is just a child who has never left his birthplace but seems to understand the world and the current situation of mutants perfectly." 0

Even Scott was taken aback and asked, "Could it be that he has abilities like yours, allowing him to block your probing and still grasp everything without stepping outside?" 0

Charles shook his head. "Magneto is preparing something in Missouri. We cannot allow him to continue damaging the already tense relationship between mutants and ordinary people. I am also worried that this child might go astray and be led by Eric down a bloody path of revenge that he should not be on. Therefore, you and Jean must head to Missouri immediately. Whatever Magneto is doing, you must stop him. As for that child... if possible, bring him back first." 0

... 0

At the same time, Bai Luo had already gotten into a car, leaving behind the town where he had lived for nine and a half years. During these nine years, Bai Luo's greatest achievement might be his skyrocketing English proficiency; before crossing over, he could barely pass level four, but now he could converse fluently in English. 0

Driving was Mystique, while Bai Chu and Bai Luo sat in the back. According to Bai Luo's plan, they would first drop off his burdensome older sister and then go meet Magneto. However, Bai Chu clearly disagreed with this decision; in her view, she was Bai Luo's only guardian and would never abandon her younger brother to go off to some Mutant School. 0

Mystique remained silent; she believed it would be beneficial for both of them to join Magneto's camp. 0

But even Mystique could not have anticipated that after nearly half an hour of bickering between the siblings, Bai Luo would suddenly explode with anger and knock Bai Chu unconscious with a slap. 0

"Alright, the obstacle is gone." Bai Luo smiled broadly; at nine and a half years old, his smile appeared truly innocent while Mystique's lips twitched slightly. 0

She thought for a moment and said, "Eric will be very pleased to see you." 0

Bai Luo chuckled and replied, "I guess Magneto must be preparing some large-scale terror operation right now?" 0

Mystique looked somewhat surprised. "How did you know?" 0

"I have a System, what could I possibly not know?" Bai Luoxin said. 0

However, Bai Luo did not voice this thought; he merely smiled in silence. To Mystique, this child's smile seemed somewhat infuriating. 0

After a moment of contemplation, Mystique decided not to dwell on it further. She couldn't shake the feeling that this child, who often wore an inappropriate smile, was a bit enigmatic. 0

Meanwhile, Bai Luo had already turned his gaze outside the car. 0

The bright moon hung high in the sky as the old vehicle belonging to the White House slowly drove out of their town. In the wilderness, a giant billboard stood out prominently—Stark Industries. 0

At this point in time, most of the Avengers had yet to make their appearances, and Captain America had not yet been revived. In other words, this moment belonged to the mutants and the X-Men. 0

Yet, Bai Luo remained cautious. After all, with Ghost Call looming ahead, this so-called Marvel Universe was likely to be more "colorful" than he had imagined. 0
