Chapter 2: The Fog
Qin Sword didn't know how much time had passed when he felt someone pushing him forcefully, "Captain! Captain!"
Qin Sword Struggling to open his eyes, but saw the deputy company commander Hadan Batel shouting at him loudly.
He moved his body and didn't feel any pain there, and moved his limbs as if they were not affected.
Upon seeing Qin Sword wake up, Hadan Batel showed a slight relief in his anxious expression, but still spoke with urgency: "Captain, take a look around!"
- Could it be that we are surrounded by foreign armed forces!
Qin Sword Looking around, besides the seven or eight warriors lying beside me, there is no other sign of people. Not far away is a clear, murmuring river, and in the other directions, what meets the eye is not the familiar desert or wasteland, but from near to far, all I see is lush greenery. Flowers are emitting an infinite fragrance in the wind, stretching endlessly. This is clearly a grassland!
Listening carefully, it's completely quiet.
In the telescope, there are no suspicious or dangerous signs.
Hadan Batel gestured to look at his wristwatch: In addition to the timekeeping function being normal on the military watch, the positioning, weather forecasting, (altitude, coordinates, weather) data recording, accurate altitude measurement, and map encoding display functions are all malfunctioning just like the communication system.
The date displayed on the dial is May 31, 1162!
I got up to check, all my equipment is still on me, and looking at my comrades on the ground, their breathing is steady, heartbeats normal. It's only a matter of time before they wake up.
But the two military leaders really don't understand what's going on?
- China is too big. In addition to Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang, even places like Sichuan-Tibet, Yungui, and other areas have grasslands. Where are we?
What's with the thick fog? How did I end up here? What's the situation with my comrades from the armored battalion? Where are they and their equipment?
It should be yesterday, their battalion just wiped out a group of illegal armed militants, killing 13 on the spot, capturing 7 alive, and seizing a large amount of military supplies provided by Western countries, such as AK47s, MK2 grenades, rocket launchers, and C4 explosives, in a secret cave along the border.
This is a typical armored company under the organization of a northern army, with a full complement of 3 platoons. It includes one armored infantry platoon, with each platoon consisting of 4 tracked transport vehicles, each carrying a combat infantry squad with a vehicle commander, driver, communications specialist/mechanic, and 7-9 infantry soldiers; and two armored vehicle platoons, each consisting of 4 armored infantry chariots, with each vehicle serving as a squad, with the vehicle commander also acting as the squad leader, and 8-9 soldiers in each vehicle.
The company's directly subordinate units include a logistics transport team, a communications squad, with about 30 personnel, 5 transport and towing vehicles, 2 command vehicles, and 2 field kitchen vehicles. Although it is not a reinforced company, it is also equipped with two 120mm ultra-light mortar systems, as well as the latest unmanned reconnaissance and attack drones.
A combined force like this, placed in any inland province, would definitely make headlines if it dared to march openly, day or night. But not at the frontier.
The frontier is located in the northwest of our country, with a length of about 2000 kilometers from east to west and a width of about 1600 kilometers from north to south. Its total area is 1.6649 million square kilometers, accounting for one-sixth of the total area of the country. To put it in perspective, its area is three times the size of France and four times the size of Japan. It is even larger than the combined area of provinces such as Nanhe, Dongshan, Xishan, Beihu, and Hui'an.
The desert covers an area of 420,000 square kilometers, while the Gobi covers 290,000 square kilometers. With a population of over 20 million, it is a typical region of vast land and sparse population. It borders 8 countries including Mongolia, the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, with a border length of 5600 kilometers.
Due to its vastness, the unit that constantly combats illegal border-crossing armed forces must ensure long-term endurance in terms of ammunition, fuel, and supplies. The vehicle-mounted wireless communication equipment also possesses strong environmental adaptability, excellent interoperability, resistance to destruction and interference, and outstanding confidentiality. Additionally, it is easy to operate and maintain.
The battle ended, the company commander Qin Sword and the instructor Wu Jie, along with the deputy company commander Hadan Batel, were conducting a post-battle summary in the Command vehicle.
After receiving the intelligence, they were the closest mobile unit to the enemy. These people have been serving on the frontier for many years and have dealt with numerous heinous terrorist activities. In this situation, eliminating the enemy is to prevent foreign invasion and defend the territorial integrity of the country, fulfilling the sacred mission of soldiers to protect their homeland.
The platoon leader, Qin Sword, and the instructor, Wu Jie, both graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China. The deputy platoon leader, Hadan Batel, is a Mongolian man who is extremely enthusiastic about the informatization and electronic warfare of the modern army, and is a commander familiar with modern warfare.
When the platoon arrived at the designated area, they launched the attack using the Type 2 Unmanned Reconnaissance Drone System. The thermal imaging system quickly captured the enemy's traces and determined their quantity, and under program control and remote command, they swiftly launched the attack.
The Type 2 unmanned aerial vehicle has strong loitering capabilities and a long cruising time. It can conduct reconnaissance on various situations on the battlefield, making it a very flexible unmanned aerial vehicle. In addition, it has up to 6 weapon hardpoints and can carry 12 small missiles. After two missiles were launched, the enemies outside the cave lost all combat capabilities.
Two tear gas canisters were thrown into the cave, and the remaining seven surrendered with their hands raised.
unmanned aerial vehicleRetracted to the transport vehicle, several senior officers felt "not very satisfying."
But at present, in addition to the "combined units" in Xinjiang, Tibet, and abroad, which may still be able to "train troops" through actual combat, it is always better than the forces outside the region that can only conduct "red-blue" confrontation exercises.
There are currently no new combat orders. Checking the watch on my wrist, the Qin Sword command orders us to set up camp on the spot and wait for the helicopter to come and transport the prisoners of war and the large amount of seized supplies at daybreak.
In the frontier, this kind of wilderness camping is routine for them. Duty personnel have been assigned and sent to patrol the guard posts, and the camp quickly falls into silence.
Then I heard "enemy attack" and pursued... memories slowly pieced together.
- What is the situation with the fierce White mist? How did I end up here?
