The old man finally reached his side, slowly crouching down and staring at Ergou for a while. "I don't deny it," Gu Ping said. "Where is he?" 0

Ergou shook his head, unsure. 0

"Did he say anything?" 0

He handed over the box and said that whoever sought it should take it. Ergou seemed stunned, his leg that was raised now dropped back down. 0

"Did he say anything else?" 0

"No, nothing," Ergou stammered. 0

"Did he tell you where he was going?" 0

Ergou shook his head again. He truly didn't know. Gu Ping hadn't mentioned where he was headed; he only explained the matter of the box before hurriedly leaving. Ergou was scared—he was really scared. His whole body trembled, and despite falling several times, he felt no pain. His legs were scraped and bleeding, yet Ergou felt not a single thing; he had been frightened into a stupor. 0

He had no regrets. Even if he knew where Gu Ping had gone, he wouldn't say a word—not even if it meant death. 0

"My lord," a warrior approached the old man, presenting the opened box. 0

The old man was none other than Ru Ming, the only idle prince of the Liu Xia Dynasty—the Seventh Prince, Liu Jia. He had been secretly watching the horse team since they left the capital. Before they had traveled even a tenth of the way, he had made his move, but unexpectedly, he was a step too late; Bei Qinping had escaped. 0

The Seventh Prince took out a book from the box titled "The Book of Radiant Path." He opened its pages and held it up to his face, sniffing it before placing it back in the box. "Take it," he commanded. 0

No. 0

Ergou did not shout for help, unaware that there was no one to save him. He couldn't even muster the words in his fear, simply being led away by someone, not knowing where he was being taken. But what did it matter? His mission was over. 0

The Seventh Prince did not see it; hidden on the eastern bank of the river was a figure resembling a statue. No one knew how long that person had been there, or even that there was someone at all. If that person had one defining characteristic, it was that they showed no sign of life, as if they did not exist. Even in a crowd, no one would notice them. 0

It wasn't until the Seventh Prince's people had left that the figure finally turned and quietly slipped away from the riverbank. 0

Where did everyone go? Liu Lao Jiu dragged Gu Ping from house to house, but they couldn't see a single person. Where had all the people gone? 0

Since entering the village, Gu Ping hadn't said a word. The entire village was shrouded in mist; visibility dropped to nothing beyond ten meters. Upon entering the village, they hadn't seen a single shadow, and now, after half a day, still no one appeared. Gu Ping's heart raced with anxiety; he just wanted to leave this village as quickly as possible. 0

Listening to Liu Lao Jiu's words, Gu Ping didn't respond but carefully observed his surroundings. How big could this village be? 0

Suddenly, Liu Lao Jiu froze. He understood what Gu Ping was pointing at. The two of them had yet to find the same inn or post station; in such a remote little village, how could it be so large? They had already spent at least half a day wandering around; they could have explored most of the capital city in that time. How big could a small village really be? Both felt a chill run down their spines. 0

After taking a few more steps, a large tree came into view before them. Gu Ping suddenly stopped and pointed at the tree, asking, "Doesn't that tree look familiar?" 0

Liu Lao Jiu also halted and scrutinized the tree closely; it indeed seemed to be just as Gu Ping described. 0
