At two in the morning, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department received an urgent emergency call.
"Hello, is this the police station? I'm near Nakasendo at the Furukawa Residence, something terrible has happened here!" The caller's voice trembled with fear and despair.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department sprang into action, dispatching a special task force composed of seasoned detectives to drive through the rainy night towards the Furukawa Residence. Leading them was the legendary figure of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, Silence.
The gate of the Furukawa Residence appeared particularly heavy in the rain, as if every inch pushed open required immense effort. Silence and her team crossed the rain-soaked courtyard and arrived at the main house. Inside, it was pitch black, illuminated only occasionally by flashes of lightning from outside, barely revealing the outlines within.
"Everyone, be cautious," Silence instructed in a low voice before pushing open the front door.
A thick stench of blood assaulted them instantly, nearly suffocating. The interior was in disarray; furniture lay toppled, and broken porcelain and blood-stained clothing scattered across the floor. Following the trail of blood, they stepped deeper into the core area of the residence.
In a bedroom on the second floor, they discovered the first body: Iori Furukawa, head of the Furukawa Family. He lay on the ground with wide-open eyes and a twisted expression, clearly having died in extreme terror. His wife and two children were also found in separate rooms, meeting their fates in similar ways. The entire residence seemed to have been utterly destroyed by an invisible force, leaving behind only silence and despair.
Silence meticulously examined the scene, trying to find any possible clues. What puzzled her was that this case had almost no obvious traces. The doors and windows were tightly shut with no signs of forced entry; valuables inside remained untouched, indicating it wasn't a robbery; aside from fatal wounds, there were no other marks on the bodies. Even more unsettling was that within the entire residence, apart from the sound of rain and occasional thunder, there was not a single other sound—time seemed to have come to a standstill at that moment.
"Silence," Silence murmured to herself; this case seemed to have some special connection to tranquility.
She immediately ordered a thorough search of the residence and requested surveillance footage and communication records from nearby areas. As time passed, however, the investigation appeared to hit a dead end. All clues pointed to a cul-de-sac as if an invisible hand was manipulating everything from behind the scenes.
Just when Silence and her team found themselves in a predicament, an anonymous letter quietly appeared on her desk at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. The letter contained only a brief message: "To seek the truth, go to Silent Forest."
"Silent Forest?" Silence furrowed her brow; she had never heard that name before. An instinct told her that this letter was intricately connected to the massacre at Furukawa Residence.
She decided to personally head to Silent Forest. In a remote area on the outskirts, she found a forest surrounded by dense trees. A mysterious and oppressive atmosphere enveloped the forest as if even the air had solidified. Silence navigated through the woods in search of possible clues.
Suddenly, she heard faint whispers—was someone speaking or was it just the wind rustling through the treetops? Following the sound led her to an open grassy area. There she saw a stone tablet washed by rainwater, making it hard to discern its inscriptions. It bore an ancient phrase: "In silence lies a sleeping secret; it shall awaken the slumbering truth."
Silence realized that this inscription might hold key insights into solving the case. She immediately returned to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and organized experts to interpret what was written on the tablet. After considerable effort, they finally unveiled the truth behind this secret.
It turned out that the Furukawa Family had once been an ancient clan tasked with guarding a secret related to tranquility. This secret was connected to an ancient curse. It was said that if someone violated certain taboos, it would trigger this curse, leading to silent destruction of their entire family. Ichiro Furukawa had inadvertently breached this taboo and thus brought about this calamity.
However, truth is often far more complex than one wishes for. During further investigations, Silence discovered that there was an even larger conspiracy hidden behind this case. Someone had exploited this curse as a tool to achieve their own nefarious goals. The Furukawa Family was merely an innocent victim in this grand scheme.
With solid evidence in hand, law enforcement swiftly acted to bring down those behind it all. Justice may have arrived late but ultimately prevailed. The souls of the Furukawa Family could finally rest in peace as dawn broke once again over the city.
