As Zhang Qi gradually approached the old man in the black robe, the surrounding zombies attacked with increasing ferocity. 0

One zombie lunged at him from the side. Zhang Qi sidestepped and struck the zombie's head hard with the handle of his shovel, sending it crashing to the ground, but more zombies quickly closed in. 0

Zhang Qi felt his stamina depleting; his steps grew heavier. Yet, thoughts of the unconscious monkey, the safety of his teammates, and their predicament reignited his fighting spirit. 0

At that moment, the pressure on Lao Hu and A Ling was also mounting. 0

Lao Hu's dagger finally succumbed to the strain, snapping with a sharp crack. 0

He tossed aside the broken blade and grabbed a stone from the ground, hurling it at the Zombie Horde while cursing, "Come on! Watch how I deal with you monsters!" 0

A Ling had only one talisman left. She pressed her palms together, channeling all her energy into this final talisman. It emitted a brilliant light, temporarily pushing back some of the zombies. 0

Professor Li noticed some strange symbols on the walls of the tomb passage. He leaned in for a closer look and suddenly exclaimed, "I think I've found some clues! These symbols might be related to controlling the zombies' power. If we can decipher them, we might be able to stop them!" 0

Hearing this, hope ignited in Lao Hu and A Ling's hearts as they continued to fend off the zombies while waiting for Professor Li's further discoveries. 0

Meanwhile, Zhang Qi was still fighting his way through the Zombie Horde, getting closer to the old man in the black robe. A life-and-death showdown was about to unfold. 0

Zhang Qi navigated through the Zombie Horde with great difficulty; within this ancient tomb in Daxing'anling, coldness and danger intertwined. 0

The walls around him flickered with eerie phosphorescence. In the dim light, the twisted faces of the zombies appeared even more terrifying and grotesque. 0

His heart raced like thunder, each beat seeming to cheer him on. 0

He cleverly exploited the zombies' sluggish movements, sometimes sidestepping and other times crouching to evade their attacks. 0

The shovel in his hand danced like a beam of light, whooshing through the air as he blocked close-range assaults. His footwork shifted rapidly, resembling a nimble loach as he gradually tore a path through the Zombie Horde. 0

"Zhang Qi, keep going! Don't let that old bastard succeed!" Lao Hu shouted from behind as he fought off zombies with his broken blade dagger. 0

His voice was a bit hoarse, yet filled with strength, as if injecting a dose of adrenaline into Zhang Qi. 0

Lao Hu's face was splattered with the putrid stains of zombies, his hair a disheveled mess, but there was no trace of fear in his eyes—only a desire to survive and trust in Zhang Qi. 0

Zhang Qi gritted his teeth, offering no response, but his conviction grew stronger within him. 0

He understood that he bore the weight of everyone’s lives; there could be no retreat. Despite the sweat soaking his clothes and the dull ache from his wounds—each one feeling as if countless needles were piercing him—his gaze remained resolute. His only goal was to charge toward the old man in the black robe. 0

In this tense moment, memories of simpler times with Monkey in their small town flooded back to him. Those days, though poor, were filled with simple joys. They shared cheap roasted sweet potatoes from street vendors, the sweet aroma wafting through the cold winter air; they skated on the frozen river, their laughter echoing across the vast expanse. 0

“Monkey, I will definitely get you out!” he silently vowed. 0

This bond of brotherhood became his strongest motivation in this dark predicament. 0

Suddenly, a zombie reached out with its shriveled arm, aiming for his throat. 0

Zhang Qi reacted swiftly, sidestepping while bringing the shovel handle down hard on the zombie's arm. With a crack, the arm shattered, but more zombies closed in, blocking his path completely. 0

These zombies gaped their blood-soaked mouths wide open, exuding a nauseating stench as if they intended to devour him whole. 0

“You think you can stop me? Not so easily!” Zhang Qi roared. He spotted a zombie with a weak knee joint ahead and seized the opportunity. He dashed forward, leaping high into the air, and brought his shovel down with all his might onto the zombie's knee. 0

The knee shattered upon impact, and the zombie collapsed to the ground, clearing a small path for him. 0

At that moment, one of Wang Batian's subordinates came running toward Zhang Qi in sheer panic, terrified by the zombies. “Help! What kind of hell is this?” he shouted as he ran. 0

This subordinate was named Zhao Si. Normally a bully in town, he now resembled a helpless child. His pants were soaked from fear, and his eyes were filled with terror and despair. 0

Zhang Qi felt a wave of disgust wash over him but knew this was not the time for such feelings. 0

"Stay close behind me if you don't want to die!" Zhang Qi shouted. 0

Zhao Si quickly nodded and followed closely behind him. 0

Zhang Qi led him through the Zombie Horde, dodging and weaving as they went. 0

As they evaded the zombies' attacks, Zhang Qi occasionally glanced back to check on Zhao Si, fearful that he might get caught. 0

Although Zhao Si was a subordinate of Wang Batian, in this life-and-death situation, Zhang Qi couldn't bear to leave him to his fate. 0

"Keep up with my pace and don't run off!" Zhang Qi reminded Zhao Si while using his shovel to fend off the approaching zombies. 0

Zhao Si clutched the hem of Zhang Qi's shirt tightly, repeatedly mumbling, "Big brother, you have to save me. I don't want to die here." 0

His body trembled uncontrollably, and his steps were unsteady, but under Zhang Qi's protection, he had not yet fallen into danger. 0

Zhang Qi did not respond to Zhao Si's pleas; all his focus was on how to break through the Zombie Horde and get closer to the old man in the black robe. 0

His mind raced with strategies as he observed the zombies' movements, searching for their weaknesses. Each successful dodge and counterattack brought him one step closer to his goal. 0

He could clearly see the twisted expression on the old man's face and felt the malevolent aura growing stronger, yet he felt no fear—only determination as he pressed forward. 0
